who is this girl i see - Maegi - November 16, 2017 Last night, she dreamt of a spider--or, at least, the creature called a "spider," a word she hadn't learned yet. It was hobbling frantically away, being pursued by other, faster spiders. Their tiny appendages skittered across the huge web, making the silky white surface quiver in their wake. The spider was trying in vain to escape its pursuers, but was falling rapidly behind: it was missing two legs on its right side.
Faster and faster the others came, until the little black arachnid was overwhelmed, succumbing at last near the corner of the web to small, hungry jaws, tearing it apart until what was once a spider, a living being, was merely pieces of dark matter. Maegi had woken from this dream with a start, breathing heavily while her siblings dozed nearby. With a shudder, she rose to her feet and left the den, padding out into the clearing. Dawn had not yet broken that day, and the peace of night was still upon the forest, bugs quietly humming, the birds still silent. Little shreds of moonlight made their way past the thick canopy of trees above, lighting her white pelt with an ethereal glow. She sat down and looked out into the forest, trying to calm her fright from the nightmare. Her left forepaw stretched out before her, and her right. . . Maegi lifted it gingerly, examining what she saw. It didn't look like her other paw. Still tipped with dark gray, sure. But it was. . .wrong. The toes were fused together, the paw itself bent backward into the ankle. She had noticed that walking, running, had not come easy to her. Perhaps this was why. Something was wrong. Euron's and Ramsay's paws all looked the same. So did her mother's, her uncle's, even the dark stranger that had come to play with her that one day. Why was she different? What was wrong with her? Her lower lip quivered as she thought of this. She hadn't ever really thought something was the matter, until this moment. RE: who is this girl i see - Aries - November 19, 2017 It was still dark, and the moon shone in the sky. Soon the sun might rise, but for now it was hidden from sight. Neo had left his den with the intention to patrol, paws carrying him swiftly around the territory, but he halted once the scent of a pup drifted his way. Perhaps he shouldn't go near - that was his first thought. He wasn't a huge fan of small stinky things, but then again, it was one of the Woods. The ashen boy padded closer, until the figure was in sight. The moonlight gave the little wolf a ghostly glow, and he tilted his head. He didn't recognise the features of this one, but it was most certainly one of Blackfeathers. "Hello." He barked quietly, moving closer as his grey ears perked forward. RE: who is this girl i see - Maegi - November 19, 2017 She was about to go into a fit over her weird paw when a sound nearby distracted her. Her small white head shot up, eyes wide as she looked for the source of the noise. Gingerly, she lowered her paw--it didn't go down all the way; that couldn't be right, either!--and pricked her ears, waiting to decide whether to stay or flee.
A grey boy she hadn't seen before appeared, icy blue eyes blinking back at her in the dim light. He looked just about as old as Vaati or Ganondorf, but didn't look like either of them in any other way. Maegi frowned for an instant, trying to figure out who this could possibly be. "Hello." He was full of quiet strength. Maegi twisted her head an inch to the left as her lips tried to mimic the sound he had just made. "Huh. . .huh'loh," she tried, thumping her tail on the ground as she uttered the word. RE: who is this girl i see - Aries - November 27, 2017 He hadn't noticed the odd paw at first, gaze focused on the face of the youngster as though trying to determine who it might be. Still, nothing came to mind and the boy lowered hmself down on to his ashen haunches, icy eyes remaining on the figure. Then, he noticed the paw. Neo made no comment, but he could not help sending a quick glance to it as he wondered what was up with it. He'd never seen something like it before. The girl attempted to reproduce his words, but they did not seem to be something she'd had all that much practise on. "Who are you?" He asked out loud, having had the question repeating itself in his head a few times. He did not know them, that was for sure. Her paw was strange, but he decided that he would not judge her purely based on this. Not yet, anyway. RE: who is this girl i see - Maegi - November 27, 2017 Who are you? The question rattled around in her little head a few times as she looked for the words to answer his question. It had been this sort of philosophical question that had been plaguing her when he arrived, in a way, but she knew, after a few moments, that he was merely asking for her name and not a confused torrent of words regarding her mixed-up self.
"M-Maegi," she stuttered out, amending more confidently, "Maegi. Who you?" She wondered whether he was another brother. He didn't look like Potema, but neither did Ganon, really. Tail wagging with delight at the thought, she gave a couple little hops in place before beaming up at him, asking, "Brother?" RE: who is this girl i see - The Wispmother - November 28, 2017 Though she did not intervene with her mother around, with Potema's presence growing less Kotake's became more. Like Vaati, she would assist in rearing the children. They were not at fault for anything. Innocents, though their souls might hold some stain to them. She refused to see it. For despite Maegi's and Ramsay's physical deformity, she sensed in them something pure and good. And although the opposite could be said in Euron, Kotake did not find herself fearful of him, even when she caught him staring at their mother intently as she dozed. After all, Kotake stared intently from beyond their line of sight. It was far from innocent, but Kotake knew that the Melonii's served one another. All, except, for perhaps their mother. Sometimes, Kotake found herself staring at her too. She had not forgotten how swift her mother was to call him upon the scene the day her father—no, not her father, some man—came to rebuke him and oust him to those of Moonspear. Though she had not been there for the whole of it, she had seen what she had needed to see. This again caused Kotake to lapse into silence. For all she had done for her mother, healing her, aiding her—she felt betrayed! In that time another prisoner had come and gone, along with Vaati's once-shadow. Kotake kept away from it all then. Only Koume was permitted in her presence, and though she lurked at a protective distance from her newer siblings (though never among them) Kotake had yet to actively participate in their rearing other than bringing food to Vaati to bring to them. Today that changed. Another came. A wolf she understood was called Aries, but who she also had yet to interact with. As Maegi hopped in his direction, Kotake placed herself directly in the scene. She was unsure of his intentions; she only knew that he was a young pupil of Astrid. She lingered among them, her gaze holding onto the boy. She was conflicted; who could one trust within their own fold, now? But permitted his company nonetheless. Quietly she observed, stepping over the handicapped girl and attempting to nose her lightly enough that her balance would not be effected by it. RE: who is this girl i see - Aries - December 04, 2017 The small girl stuttered out a name: Maegi. He nodded, silent in his serious demeanor. Then he flicked his ear, deciding to give his own name in return. Perhaps, being as small and young as she was, she would not remember the ashen boy's name, but regardless he opened his jaws to speak. "I am Neo." He spoke, using the name he had taken up after arriving at Blackfeather. He was almost apalled when the girl questioned whether he might be a brother, and his fur began to prickle but then his eyes softened as he fought with his mind to remember this was but a child - and something about her innocence placed him in an interesting position. He was not her brother, but the star born child felt himself somewhat drawn to her, as if there was something willing him to protect her. And so, he held a strange like for the pale youngster. "..No, but you can call me your brother if you wish to." He muttered quietly, lowering himself slightly so that he might see eye to eye with the spiderling. It was then, in the moment of silence that followed, that his gaze trailed up and landed on the darker, ink-furred girl. He had not met this one before. She placed herself in the scene, standing above Maegi as if she was her protector. "Hello. I do not wish to harm her." He motioned to the small pup with the oddly twisted paw, striking blue eyes meeting those of the older wolfess. His words were truth - ones that he had not previously imagined he would say. Indeed it was true that he enjoyed causing havoc and yet he felt as though that was a ghastly thing to imagine himself hurting the tiny figure of the snow-furred child. RE: who is this girl i see - Maegi - December 04, 2017 Neo. Not brother. But. . . This new information filed itself into her brain, keeping locked down for later use. He was Neo, and he was not her brother. But she could call him that, if she so chose. While Maegi was intrigued at the idea of another sibling, she shook her head silently. She liked Neo better than brother, anyway. It sounded cooler.
"Neo," she repeated, her tiny voice nearly a whisper. Before she could speak again, a dark form exited the trees and made its way toward her, finally standing above and giving her a gentle nudge with her nose. Maegi knew this wolf--she brought food, after all--but did not know her name, only that she was her older sister in some way. Comforted, she nosed the dark-furred female back in warm delight, closing her eyes to slits and smiling. Neo had brought himself down to her level, his blue eyes incredibly bright. So bright, she noted, like stars. |
