It's a cold winter. - Burke - December 10, 2017 @Mato, but others are welcome too to find him.
Burke was out of his den, though he didn't know if it was the smartest decision. The elder felt the cold winds on his skin. This was a new development as his winter coat was not coming through as the years before. He shivered with each step. But he wanted to feel useful. He wanted to help his grandson with the pack. Plus, he felt if he would stay in his den for too long he would never leave it again. His days were numbered, he knew. Burke moved through the thick snow towards the borders. His idea was to patrol the borders. With each step, he grew more tired. Before he realized what was happening the elder felt the cold snow around him. Luckily the deep snow broke his fall. The elder closed his eyes in tiredness. The male was always quite determined but now he lost that drive and just liked to sleep. RE: It's a cold winter. - Ariel - December 12, 2017 *SNEAKS IN*
it hadn't been so long ago that mato and he had discussed relocation. that was before their sudden influx of new blood and before brienne's miraculous return and delight is glad that the topic had been shelved. he knew he'd been right to worrry about burke's condition (and he knew that mato would have tried to relocate anyway once he made up his mind - the morwinyon is single minded, for sure). (that's why he has delight anyway). delight hasn't seen the elder and so makes a point to keep his senses peeled. even in their little forest winter is sharp and cruel - burke had seemed fairly spry when they spoke last but the nénar worries. and is right to: he comes across the male near their borders, covered by snow. for a moment his heart stops, thinking the worst, but - no, moon-sharp eyes can trace the slow rise and fall of his sides as he breathes. alarmed, the nénar makes his way to burke's side, gently nosing his ribs (to confirm for himself) to rouse him. "hey," he says, "c'mon, we should probably get back to your den, yeah?" RE: It's a cold winter. - rip gemini - December 16, 2017 At first, Mato had scoffed at any mention Burke had made of dying …if only because Mato had been young and in his own ways extremely naive, but there was also the simple belief that such was what all old men spouted when they reached Burke’s age. The decline of Burke’s energy and presence within Tindómë was harder to delude himself with. It is winter and his bones are old but the truth was this has begun before winter seeped in and stole through the Wilds. There was a great and fierce concern for Burke that burned within Mato’s chest and what he stumbles upon only re-enforces it. At first… at first Mato thinks Burke is dead. He is snow covered and Delight is near him, attempting to get the Rochester patriarch to rise. “Grandfather?” Mato asks, voice thick and heavy as it leaves his lips, drawing near and moving to the elder’s other side hoping that this wasn’t how Burke had died. Alone and out in the cold. Where was Malice, Mato wonders with a small flare of anger that causes heat to rise beneath his fur. RE: It's a cold winter. - Burke - December 17, 2017
Burke grunted lowly when someone nudged him. To him, it felt like he had blinked for a long second and then woke. But the snow on his back indicated that he had been lying here for a longer time than he realized. Did he black out? Burke frowned lightly. His limbs feeling stiff and cold. So cold. The male started trembling a bit, barely catching the other wolf's worlds. He caught the word den. Oh yes, he liked that!
Burke slowly moved his head as he heard the voice of his grandson. Oh no. He didn't want Mato to see him like this. At least it spurred on the male to get back on his feet. He pushed himself up into a sitting position, the snow sliding off his back before the male's front paws gave in. He fell back down with his nose in the snow. Burke groaned loudly, mostly frustrated with himself. He tried to get to his feet once more. He needed help if he wanted to get out of this deep snow patch. "Help," he growled, not pleased that he needed help. RE: It's a cold winter. - Ariel - December 17, 2017 he hears mato behind him distantly and stiffens slightly, feeling a wave of anxiety at the thought of the morwinyon arriving only to find his grandfather dead in the snow. but burke responds to his nudging, lifting himself up - delight's heart breaks as the elder collapses forward again, asking for help. "gotcha, hey," the nénar says, voice firm, moving to help lift him up from under his chest. he glances at mato expectantly, indicating for the other to take burke's other side so they can guide him up and out of the deep snow. RE: It's a cold winter. - Burke - January 08, 2018 Burke groaned as he was helped up to his feet again. His grandson and Delight were helping him. The elder let out a soft huff as he got back on his feet. His limbs were very stiff from the cold, and if he didn't have his support he would topple over again. The elder couldn't help but continuously shiver as the cold took over his body. At least he was standing now. The air was almost warm compared to the cold snow. Burke blinked, though he wasn't out of the snowbank yet. He shakily put one paw forward, though it was tough to feel where the snow would stop. He almost tumbled over again, but he found his footing. With having two wolves on each side he was stable enough to walk forward while taking warmth from them. Burke was panting harshly once he climbed out of the bank. He was tired. He wished to sit down and planted his butt down. His eyes starting to droop. "Tired," he mumbled. RE: It's a cold winter. - Ariel - January 11, 2018 with mato's help they're able to maneuver burke out of the deepest part of the snow, but delight's still miserable about the situation, especially when burke sits back down again. he shares a look with the silvery prince, then nudges burke, not very gently. "you can sleep when we get back to your den, alright?" which, actually, thank elk mato's here, because the nénar doesn't know where his den even is. "c'mon, not much more now," he murmurs, hoping to urge the elder to his feet so they can make their way to the den with mato guiding them. RE: It's a cold winter. - Burke - January 15, 2018 Burke woke up more once he got a sharper nudge. The male then nodded and pushed himself back to his feet. Luckily with the help of Delight and Mato he could walk forward towards his den. As he walked his limbs grew warmer. Mato helped to guide him home to his den. Burke hadn't really been sure anymore where it was. He made it to the den. He was glad to reach it and curled up against Malice to give him warmth. His den was warm enough for the old man. He had been too tired to say a thank you to the two younger males. But even if he might not have been too tired he might not have said it. He disliked being helped even though they saved his life... We can wrap it up here?
