battlefield - Eljay - January 10, 2018

Eventually he stepped out of the forest and managed to make his way further down south. Eljay breathed easily having a visual overview of the territories. With a skip of his heart he saw the Calder in the distance and when he looked further left, he could see what he thought to be Blackfeather Woods, a dark, thick looking woods nestled against the mountain ridge. Ears perked forward as he watched it, almost as if expecting scary wolves to pop from the woods that instant, but nothing happened.

Eljay breathed out again and relaxed a little at that and he started making his way further down south towards the woods. Not much eventful happened on his way there but when he reached a nearby field from which both Redhawk Caldera and Blackfeather Woods were showing Eljay wondered what to do next. He glanced in the Caldera's direction but didn't see anyone come from there yet. The Heda must be there by now; how long would it be 'til they would stand and fight? Eljay fidgeted nervously and stood in the field as if expecting the war to come to him — he found a hill and decided to stay there because he'd surely see movement from either side should the time come.

The boy had entered her little meadow sometime that morning, and the siren had not missed it. She followed him for a time, once she'd chanced upon his scent, until he found a vantage point atop a hill. No longer could she remain unseen, but after a moment she slipped through the snow toward him, steps easy and stance amiable, trademark, ambiguous smile turning up the corners of her muzzle. She meant to investigate the boy that had stumbled into her meadow; though truly she knew she lay no true claim to the little piece of land, she thought of it now as her own.

Eljay kept an eye out on the landscape that surrounded him and didn't notice the approaching female until she was quite close already. He startled at first when he saw her approach, instinctively lowered himself to the ground in submission, but she didn't look very unfriendly. Ears perked forward curiously as she came closer and he called out with soft-spoken voice: "Hiya." He couldn't decipher the scent of Redhawk Caldera from her, and was a bit worried that she might be a Blackfeather Woods wolf, but she looked friendly and he was pretty sure the Blackfeather wolves were all evil and wouldn't be so nice to him should he run into them.

His submission was unexpected, but she could not lie and she felt no pride. Perhaps this was not truly her meadow, or perhaps he'd mistaken her for another, but the respect was nice. Pride was squashed, a smug lash of her tail stilled before it could even begin, and she merely dipped her own head in greeting. "hello," she said simply. It was a moment before she continued, but she was not that arrogant, no. "you don't need to do that."

Eljay shifted his weight as she greeted him in return and said he didn't need to do 'that'... Which he guessed was submitting. He smiled sheepishly and raised his body a lil' bit, though tail still hung low and he didn't raise himself above her level. "I'm Eljay. Are you, uh, are you from a pack?" The question came out awkwardly, since he was trying to find out if she was part of Redhawk -- though he doubted it, since he didn't smell mommy or daddy on her -- or Blackfeather Woods, perhaps.
