fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Alarian - January 17, 2018 The trio had traveled far since the battle in search of a place to rest for more than a day-- they would need time to heal, and they needed somewhere safe to do that.
It was deep in the mountain range that they found the entrance to a cave. Ali glanced at his companions, then back to the rocky mouth of the cave. He stared only for a moment before he spoke. Maybe this could be a place to stay. It was dark, and the very entrance to the place was swathed in shadows, so it was hard to tell from where they were standing. The boy shook his coat out and looked at his friends again. I'll go look, wait here! And then he was off, disappearing into the dark cave as fearlessly as ever. There really wasn't anything to fear anyway, as he promptly found out. His eyes adjusted to the darkness, finding it slightly less crushing than it had been at the mouth of the cave; he looked up, then, and realized it was because the ceiling had caved in at certain parts, allowing the moon and stars to shine through brightly. Though it was winter and most things were dead, some plants thrived even in the cold-- perhaps, Ali thought, because the cave was so perfect for such life. It was beautiful, silent, and the perfect place to stay while they healed. It's safe, you can come in!He called to his friends, tail wagging slightly at the discovery. RE: fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Lennon - January 18, 2018 Lennon had managed to keep his mouth tightly shut, and his words from biting at the others. It was nothing like him; angry, quiet, and almost emotionless. Yet, when Alarian ran of by himself, he simply couldn’t hide his feeling anymore. When the petite wolf went dashing into the unknown cave, a low grumble resonated in his throat.
Attempting to follow at a quick trot, he failed and only stumbled in pain. When finding Alarian, his gaze didn’t even catch the beautiful scene before him and the moonlight shining through. No, he was way to furious to notice, and instead, ears perked and hair standing on end. ”Don’t do that,” He snapped, ”Stop running off, have we not learned our goddamn lesson?” Not wanting to cause any more damaged, he jerked his attention on the temporary home and limped away from the group. RE: fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Korei Julia - January 18, 2018 Korei Julia kept close to both of the males, trying her best to comfort them both. They all had things that had been going on, and they were all sour. As Alarian sped off into the cave, she stuck with Lennon as he limped in. She flinched as Lennon snapped at Alarian, going over to a corner. RE: fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Alarian - January 18, 2018 PP with permission!
Ali had been ignoring Lennon's anger at him, but he could not ignore the biting words thrown his way. His mind instantly went to the incident with the stranger; he didn't think that was what Lennon meant, but his thoughts went there nonetheless. To the painful lesson he had learned. The boy's ears flattened to his head, but he said nothing.
Instead he turned to investigate the plants around the cave, to see if he recognized any of them. Ali already had enough knowledge to identify many plants, but he did not know as many medicinal uses. The information the witch, Thelxiope, had given him so kindly was now all he had to go on. Luckily, and unknown to Alarian, the dark damp cave and cool weather were the perfect conditions for Chervil to grow. He paused when he saw the first sprig of the plant, studying it to be sure he wasn't mistaken. Then he began to dig it up-- carefully, and sparingly, as he did not want to destroy the supply. When the boy was certain he had enough, he first approached Korei. I found something to help your ear. Can I? When consent was given, he cleaned the ear again before chewing up one of the roots as he had seen the witch healer do. He was not nearly as practiced as her, but he had watched carefully; with some time and care, Ali managed to apply the poultice to Korei's ear without making a mess of it. Then, reluctantly, he took the remaining root and approached Lennon. His voice was soft, nervous as he posed the question: Would it be okay if I put some of this on your leg? It's to keep away infection. RE: fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Lennon - January 18, 2018 He was mad because he cared; cared so much for the other too that the thought of them getting hurt anymore filled him with even more rage. The idea of losing Korei or Alarian was far too heartbreaking to even consider, but to lose them over something so stupid would only make matters worse. Already, he’d spend time pondering how he could’ve just done things right, when the cougar attacked he could’ve forced Korei to run, when the white stranger did he could’ve ripped out his throat but he didn’t- or couldn’t. Maybe he wasn’t meant to protect them, perhaps he was useless and only talked too often or sang more than enough.
His is head rested on his dark paws, injured leg stuck out while the rest of his body clutched to itself. In response to Alarian, he only huffed, with the intended meaning of yes. It dawned on him that he would have to show some form of communication outside of anger, or else his companion would likely jump to the worst. ”Yup.” Lennon muttered, his voice both tired and raspy. RE: fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Korei Julia - January 18, 2018 Korei Julia tried not to flinch back as her ear was cleaned over. Trying to keep her ear still for Alarian. He then left her to begin to tending to Lennon, and then she too followed over to help them out, helping where she could to clean Lennon's other wounds. "Do you...do you want me to get anything?" she asked, pausing in her helping. "Anything to help?" RE: fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Alarian - January 18, 2018 Alarian gently began to clean the leg wound as he had with Korei's ear, though he was far more hesitant and took quite a bit longer. He was careful not to disturb the bits of it that were beginning to seal up, and when the wound itself was clean he groomed the fur around it as well. Most of his ideas about where to go with it were based on practicality; keep the wound clean, keep the area clean, treat it as necessary with what knowledge he had. Briefly it crossed his mind that he'd need to hunt for them come morning. The very thought made him ache physically, but it had to be done.
With Korei cleaning Lennon's shoulder wound, it went a bit quicker than it might have otherwise. Ali was about to chew up the roots when she posed her question, and he paused for a moment. You could see if there are any cobwebs around this cave, if you want. They'd be helpful... keep the poultices in place. With that he began to chew the roots up, taking his time to prepare enough to sufficiently cover Lennon's wounds. RE: fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Lennon - January 19, 2018 Lennon shut his eyes, ignoring the awful sting envoked by every lick and touch of his wounds. He couldn’t ignore this, even if he tried. The two creatures in his life he cared for most were taking their time only to improve his life, no matter what had caused it. Tossing his ego aside, the desperate wolf grumbled beneath his breath.
”Thank you,” and quick paused, ”a lot.” It was intended for both Alarian and Korei, but he wasn’t sure if the snow furred girl was able to hear him, with how quiet his thanks had been. Truthfully, seeing the light pink of his muscle every hour or so made him nauseous. It was with great relief to not have to do so for a time, even if it be short. RE: fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Korei Julia - January 19, 2018 Korei nodded as she headed off to find cobwebs wherever she could. Eventually she came back with a bunch after Lennon gave his thanks, and just held them in her mouth, despite how weird they felt there. She had no idea how to put cobwebs on, and looked to Alarian to see if he did. She even nudged his shoulder to let him know she was there with them. RE: fly, fly, baby don't cry;; - Alarian - February 10, 2018 The boy softened when his companion offered gratitude, leaning forward to touch his nose to the other's neck briefly in response. Then he continued his chewing, finishing just as Korei came back.
Thank you, Korei. Just put them down.He said softly, beginning to apply the poultice to Lennon's wounds. Ali was careful and thorough-- and when he finished, assuming the cobwebs were where he had requested they be, he set to work using them to cover each wound. |
