bar hopping - Dune - January 29, 2018

Weather: 30°F. Mostly cloudy. Snow (6-10 in.) starting this evening and dangerously windy starting tonight, continuing until tomorrow morning.

There was a break in the snowstorm, and Dune took it as a chance to start out of the trees and into the vast expanse beyond. It looked like this too had been a forest at some point, but all that remained were blackened stumps and a few small saplings that were weathering their first winter. The white male trudged forth through the blanket of snow, keeping his eye on the mountain range ahead. He did not know what would be there, but they were distant, and he was a creature drawn to massive landforms.

The temperatures had risen over the past couple of days, and Dune was thankful for that. He had even seen sparse fauna out and about, which rarely happened when the temperature dropped to sub-freezing temperatures. Dune felt a sense of hope, if not purpose, in his life.

Wind was blowing and the redhawk could feel the wind underneath his feathers. Unknowing to the craetures that may be lurking nearby, the hawk lands on a low branch nearby.

Something above caused a branch to rustle, and Dune looked up to see a hawk perched dangerously low to the ground. Normally, he would not even think of attempting to hunt one... but this one seemed weak, perhaps out of sorts considering how low it had landed. The white male crouched, readying himself for the eventual leap toward the winged creature. Just as he was about to spring up, however, the bird took flight, and Dune gave up on attempting to catch it, returning to his journey toward the mountain.
