Think of it as living quickly - Pump - June 04, 2014

@Surra

Pump had wandered away from the borders towards the sea shore today. The news that a pack had decided to claim an island that was located not far from their own lands had yet to be confirmed, but the fact that there had been some kind of action going on there hadn't escaped her attention. She didn't like having neighbours in near vicinity, but as long as they didn't come here sniffing along the borders, she didn't care about them much. She had let Ragnar take care of it, since he was more protective and curious of them two.

It was cloudy and windy at the shores, warm, but not too hot. This was a weather she could tolerate and part of her hoped that it would stay this way for a very long time. No other wolf in the pack was affected by heat as her and if there was one thing she hated then it was feeling weak and useless. She walked along the narrow path, where water met earth, letting the waves touch her paws. She sniffed the ground, searching for morsels that were washed ashore and now and then she lifted her head to gaze at the distant horizon.

RE: Think of it as living quickly - Surra - June 04, 2014

Surra could smell, far off, more wolves. They seemed to be new - not the same scents he had smelled from afar when he first came to Horizon Ridge. Were they new members? He wondered at first. But it didn't make a lot of sense. There were four, maybe five new scents. He couldn't distinguish them perfectly from far off. And so he decided to move towards their source - towards the beach at the edge of the Horizon Ridge territory.

The young male trotted through the forest, ducking under low branches and stepping lightly over fallen ones, weaving in and out between trees. If his search came to nothing, at least this part would be enjoyable. He preferred trotting through the trees to full-out running, in most cases - it was enough to get his blood flowing through his veins, but not so fast that he couldn't enjoy the sights and sounds around him. He loved the earth, truly, and saw such beauty in it.

Soon enough, Surra ducked through a final low branch and emerged onto the beach. The scents far off were stronger, but, still far off to be sure. If Surra had to guess, they were beyond Horizon Ridge Territory. He lifted his nose and sniffed the air, and a familiar scent hit him like a brick - Pump. He whipped his head around and saw her walking through the water's edge not far from him. Immediately, Surra's tail dropped in respect, and as she approached in his direction he dipped his head to her with a slight smile.

Pump hadn't seen much of Surra, since she had accepted him at the borders, having been busy herself with various duties that came along, when you were a leader of a pack. When she had first stepped up to be the alpha of the Horizon ridge, she had promised herself and every person that pledged loyalty to her, that they would never feel unwanted or left alone in the group. It had proven to be easier said than done. Kennedy hadn't recovered, despite their best efforts and preferred to sulk on his own. Some other newcomers were detached from the rest of the group, but they never stayed here long. And with their numbers growing, Pump found it harder to interact with them all.

Therefore she was glad to catch the scent of the young wolf and she padded over to him, holding her position neutral. "Surra," she acknowledged his greeting.

Surra was greeted with his own name as Pump approached him. He had not seen her since she accepted him into her pack - but those ears were all too familiar, as if he had seen them mere hours ago, not days. He wondered about her heritage, momentarily - she must not be all wolf, there must be other blood in her. A question for another time, though, he knew. Surra knew he did not yet know his alpha well enough to ask her such questions.

"It is good to see you, Pump. I hope you have been well." Surra's voice was level and respectful. He noticed her neutral body language, but was sure to keep his tail and head just the slightest bit beneath hers. He turned his head for a moment back towards where the smell of other wolves was, before turning his calm blue eyes back to her. "Do you smell that as well? Others?" He sniffed the air again. "I have yet to meet everyone here, I know - but surely they must be beyond Horizon Ridge."
