Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Hexe - April 15, 2018 The beach had been fairly empty as of late and this did not stick well with Hex, who had got used to the daily scavenging parties that sometimes extended to late in midnight. More often than not the trash she overturned and skimmed through was of little value, but still a little morsel of food was always better than finding nothing at all. Like now. Nothing. There were some odd pieces of driftwood and meagre sea-weeds scattered in the sand, but nothing of particular interest for the scavenging junkie, who got more and more frustrated with every passing day. The idea that she should adapt and change her ways was repelling and she was more willing to give 100th second chance to an almost lost cause than try something new. And today she finally found that "X" on the map in a form of an oddly shaped block of ice. It would not have been of any interest to the dappled wolf, had not it encased a whole animal inside. The tail was the only body part that was free and, when it was clear that after some hefty tugs, the body was not going to free itself from it's icy trap, Hex sat down and scrutinized the object with such intensity as if wishing to melt it. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Erzulie - April 21, 2018 erzulie had returned to the water, and now she paddled 'round near the shoreline, practicing the breadth of her strokes. the icewater bit at her flanks, numbed her eartips, until the harlot found herself compelled to leave the ocean and whisk the water from her chai-tea pelt once safely upon the sand.
and here her eyes narrowed with a flare of her nostrils — there was another here, and erzulie saw fit to ply her trade wherever she was persuaded to roam in ironsea. thus the swab paced the shoreline until she had sidled to the flank of the other, and swept spiced ears forward. it was not the ice that held erzulie's attention, nor the curious shape caught in its embrace — no; it was the oddly-pelted she-wolf who enthralled the harlot. "what be you attemptin' heah?" she purled after a heartbeat, mint-glow gaze alighting on the side of her packmate's face. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Hexe - April 22, 2018 Makings and doings of Hexe's mind were simple, decisions - rational, actions - practical. While she did not possess the brilliance and intellect of a very famous fictional detective from 19th century, she was in many ways similar to him. All emotions and particularly love were looked down upon from the throne, where pure cold reason stood. And the more time she spent among the pirates, the more marked this characteristic of hers became. Therefore she treated the other's close presence as a nuisance and growled at her, before taking few steps sideways to feel more comfortable. She then turned her head to give a brief critical look at the she-wolf and then drew her attention back to the block of ice. She jumped on it eventually to have a better look at the creature inside from above. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Erzulie - May 02, 2018 erzulie had known ironsea would be a difficult place to ply her trade — still, she had not expected the rumbling growl that unearthed itself from her packmate's throat, the hard look that followed. unwilling to seem foolish, nor timid, the harlot lifted her chin and turned to move some several feet away. curiosity bound her to the sand; pride kept words from her lips now. the other had rejected her first overture; erzulie was sodden with an arrogant wisdom in her decision to say no more.
silently she watched. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Hexe - May 05, 2018 For all Hexe cared, she had achieved her goal - the female moved away without saying a single word - and just because this success was at the expense of some wounded pride, did not matter to the dappled she-wolf. The other was welcome to return, when she wished - others being interested in the same objects were welcome and even neccessary for Hexe to feel better and more confident in what she had chosen to do. But should the beautiful thing advance on Hexe again, she would be met with the same level of hostility. From the viewpoint of above, Hexe found a crack in the ice and began to dig at it. Lucky for her - the outer layer of the ice was brittle and soon her paws broke through. She had reached the place, where the encased animal's scruff was. Content with her success for now, Hexe lied down and took a good sniff at the creature, trying to decipher, what it had once been. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Erzulie - May 07, 2018 erzulie felt quickly the sting of indignation when the other did not turn back to welcome her. chiding herself for such pettiness, the harlot raised herself to the balls of small dark feet and stole closer — this time, her chai-tea hackles bristled in a vague show of defense along her withers, but erzulie offered no fight.
when the oddly-colored beast lay down, the swab followed suit, her two-toned gaze searching down into the gap, as if she too could see what the other did, and wished to know it also. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Hexe - May 12, 2018 Salt. Seaweeds. Fat. Fur. Wet. Sand. Sea-shells. Fish. And a lot of hints, tinges, flavors, stenches, whiffs, emanances, reeks and effluviums (now that is one word Hexe did not know, though it is very likely that she hadn't got the slightest idea of other synonyms to the word "smell" either) that I cannot either name or place anywhere among the known terms. And even with this wealth of information her mind had no idea, what it had been once or what it had become now. Therefore she shot an annoyed glance over to the she-wolf, who had drawn nearer again. This was a good moment as ever to impress the dappled wolf and the task was simple - prove that you have brains and use them! RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Erzulie - May 14, 2018 erzulie was quickly learning her elegance, usually catching to the eye, did nothing for the dappled wolf. fixed by the other's irritated glance, the harlot gathered herself to her feet and stole closer. there was the scent of something here — a new sort of fragrance that drew her attention from her surly packmate.
"beavah, perhaps," erzulie murmured, casting the other wolfess a quick glance. her focus returned to the creature; the harlot continued her perusal of what she could see beneath the ice. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Hexe - May 18, 2018 Biiivah-peraps? Erzulie's two word sentence caught Hexe's attention and set her mind into motion. She looked down at the frozen thing (which - in fact - really was a beaver), scrutinized it long and hard with a furrowed brow. One or two times she leaned down to have a good sniff of the odd animal again and at last it seemed that she had come to a conclusion. She lifted her gaze back to the she-wolf and gave her a quick winner's grin and a little wag of her tail. Biivah-peraps it would be. With this mystery now solved, she jumped off the block of ice swiftly and looked around for something else to catch her attention. It was a tree trunk covered in sea-weeds and after casting a glance over to Erzulie, as if asking, if she was coming, Hexe proceeded towards the new object of interest. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Erzulie - June 01, 2018 the other wolfess gazed hard upon the frozen animal, but it was not long before erzulie's assumption had been confirmed. breathing a silent sigh of relief through gently flared nares, the jezebel returned her packmate's smile. she had thought that the two of them would come together for further exploration of the thing, but the other had dashed away, satisfied with the harlot's pronouncement.
erzulie caught the woman's eye and followed, lengthening her stride until they moved alongside one another, erzulie's eyes searching the strand for whatever they would discover next. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Hexe - June 10, 2018 Hexe's air of self-importance grew, when Erzulie joined her. For those couple of seconds it took them to reach the reed-covered tree her head was held higher and her stride was prouder. And then they had come to their destination and the dappled she-wolf jumped right into action, tracing the tree-trunk with her nose, sniffing and taking in the myriad of smells it had to offer, sticking her muzzle in some of the hollows and in one hole she stuck in her paw and pulled out a tightly shut clam. She sniffed it, tried to pick it up, but due to it's shape and surface it was not easy to do, and eventually left it lying by her feet, while she examined it with a curious expression. Then a quick look over to the cream-colored she-wolf to see, if she was busy and, if she could lend her brain-cells again to tell, what it was and what could they do with it. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Erzulie - June 15, 2018 erzulie drew up alongside her silent new companion, indulging herself wordlessly in the scents strewn across the ground beneath their paws. her attention she kept trained upon the other, however, and was not far when her presence was silently requested. lengthening her stride, the harlot sniffed delicately at the hard-shelled object, humming beneath her breath.
"oystah?" she queried, unable to help a low laugh from slipping through her muzzle. gingerly she reached out a paw to prod it, but her claws grated on its surface and she pulled back her foot. RE: Why learn algebra? Finding X is only useful, if you are a pirate - Hexe - June 20, 2018 Now this wolf was like a living encyclopedia to Hexe. Oistah. It would be then from now on. She snatched it away from Erzulie, in case the other wolf had had any ideas in regards of this finding, then she stood still and thinking with the oyster in her mouth, and eventually, giving one last sly grin at the packmate, dashed off and away. This was an object that needed to be put somewhere safe immediately. |
