Hunger set in as she trekked on, she had been traveling for days now and she sits down as she catches her breath when out of the bushes hops a hare and she begins to lick her muzzle.

the very hare that the black female had her eyes upon, ich'aak had coursed possessively. he did not detect company as he swept out from the brush with jaws parted in the manner of some berserk demon.
the shadow fell across the unsuspecting creature; with a crunch, ich'aak's jaws terminated the beating of the rabbit's heart. triumphant, he turned around to quickly go somewhere quiet to eat -- only to come face to face with a wolf he had neither seen nor heard.

She saw a coyote in front of her and by the looks of it, he was hungry also. "This is mine sir." She says in hopes of avoiding conflict.

a chill slid down the wraith's spine, causing his shoulders to shudder. the female spoke, and despite his unfamiliarity with her tongue, he needn't know her language to understand her purpose.
Ich'aak cast her a hardened glare; it had been weeks since he had eaten, and his gradual starvation afforded so few chances. the energy he had extended coursing this hare could not be recovered -- especally not without a meal.
resolutely, he stared her down -- hoping she would get the message and leave him to the hard earned meal he had acquired.

Clearly the male cared not and Moonshadow looked at him as she only backed up slightly but not enough to show she was backing down. She hoped not to fight but she was just so hungry she couldn't afford to loose a meal.

in the end, he could not risk it. not his life for some measly meal -- even if that meal cost him significantly.
having come to this realization, he dropped the carcass -- and made an incredibly swift retreat.
