make it last before we die - Jarilo - June 16, 2018

A steady rainshower had made itself comfortable, drenching the verdant mountainside and all upon it. When it showed no signs of letting up by sometime later in the day, the grayscaled Ostrega was fed up with trying to avoid the weather. He relented soon after and delved out in it, throwing caution, and dryness, to the winds. There were far better things he could busy himself with and a part of him wouldn't mind seeing if anyone else was out too. A wet coat wouldn't melt him, and he did not like being quite so stationary for this long; the rain had outrun the yearling's patience.

After a kick of his heels, he took off, heading fast for the edge where forest met small meadow.

RE: make it last before we die - Lyra - June 25, 2018

The triplet had been keeping to herself for the past few weeks, a particular sort of apathy sinking deep into her bones and keeping her tied to the mountain, save for the rare times she accompanied her sisters on hunts and reconnaissances. Not that she minded really, as she was sure the pack didn't either — she was their only healer after all. She was needed, especially now with the latest litter finding their legs and making their way out into the world. The weather hadn't helped either, the dreary skies and relentless showers reflecting her lethargic mood.

Yet the rain didn't seem to stop the others. As the Ostrega lazily prowled the mountainside, her blue eyes focused on a dark blur that suddenly raced out from the shelter of the trees and streaked across one of the fields found upon Moonspear. She quickly recognised the form as Jarilo and wondered what her energetic brother was up to. Chasing something? Someone? She hesitated under the cover of the trees for a moment before deciding to embrace the younger boy's reckless abandon; her fur would always dry. And Alya was wonderful at setting their coats back to its usual pristine state.

Silently, she took off after her brother, noting the muddy ground underfoot with a sly smile.

Quite eagerly, he made his way and reveled in the race of his heart in the moments he bothered to feel. More importantly came the cruised of the land underfoot, with the very way it sprang up his legs towards his ears. He melded back to meet it, too, flattening out a stride accordingly when he could, and overall, simply enjoying the rhythm he sluiced through the rain.

With the scent of all the damp plants filling his nose, he didn't smell any company coming and neither did he concern himself. A sensation prickled at his neck, real or entirely imagined, anyway. Faster, instinct spurred, even before he knew he might be pursued but reason argued back, a quieter voice but still, something about how wet it was. Faster, though. He aimed more towards the meadow side of things, angling his gallop out into its open away from the forest--which if his shadow wanted to come too, he was more than welcome to the idea despite his speeding along.

Either he did not notice her or the boy was too caught up in his manic gallop through the rain that he didn't bother to acknowledge his company. She half-hoped it was the former — oblivious prey was always an easy target. Regardless, the triplet raced behind her brother at a distance, focused on his movements as he tore along a path beside the forest before veering out into the meadow.

She followed, her own trajectory splitting a ways off from Jarilo's. It would do her no good to simply tail him; he was lean, long-legged, and fast, but she had one distinct advantage over her little brother. She cast a quick glance at the woodlands surrounding the meadow, knowing that the two dark-coated Ostregas racing around in the open would be very much visible to those lurking within their depths.

Slowing her pace, Lyra then tilted back her head and let out a soft, low howl — a summoning for @Hydra and @Alya. This could be a chance for them to brush up on their ambush tactics.

RE: make it last before we die - Hydra - July 18, 2018

She and @Alya had been sparring amongst themselves, though their own game was paused when the sound of their twin called. At once, Hydra took off, and her right hand was alongside her. They were used to the earth beneath them, though were cognizant of the weather. Swiftly they made their way down until at long last, they were with Lyra. Adjusting her pace to match her sisters, the Beta moved to the center.

There was the scent of Jarilo present, and her eyes fell upon a blur in the near-distance. The greyscale wolf blended will with his surroundings. Hydra knew without words what her sister had summoned them for, and her tail waved. Her eyes flashed before her ears fanned downward before thrusting up in a wordless command to surround him.

He had to focus. On his speed, where his paws landed, and not exclusively on the looming threat of something potentially very menacing. By the second, he started to feel more like prey--and while they were subtle, and he was not, he sensed them near--and getting nearer. For all he could delight in it (he savored the thrill, and did not face them with any fear in his heart), such carelessness would only make him an easy target for them; he didn't want to lose this by some careless mistake like a misstep or worse.

His ears pivoted carefully, and no longer did he run at his flat-out now that he had openness (as much as the mountain was going to give him here) spanning all around him. Though he kept to a canter, his sides heaved and his jaw hung slack, panting generously as he loped, slower with each stride. He hoped this looked convincing enough--that he was as winded as he hoped to portray, and possibly lure them closer. He kept his senses sharp, just to see what it could turn into.

Soon enough, she was joined by her mirror images; Lyra sensed them before she saw them. Her gaze remained lock on Jarilo, though out of the corner of her eye she saw two familiar flashes of black, with one swerving towards the center of their formation to take the lead. She was quick to take note of Hydra's command and peeled away slightly, Alya doing the same on the opposite side.

However, as Lyra was not an experienced hunter or fighter like her sisters, she was fooled by Jarilo's trick display of fatigue. Her medic side took over, pace slowing as she eyed his lagging form, though still kept in line with Hydra and Alya, awaiting the signal to close in. For as much as she loved her brother, she was subordinate to Hydra, first and foremost. She gave her sister a glance, knowing mercy was not in her nature, but still signalling that he was winded in hopes they would end the chase swiftly.

It was a delicate balance, and one he was still learning the nuances of--the push, the pull, and the timing of it all? His mind whirred, body keyed up, and he always had to wonder--when, how? What awaits? He had been learning his entire life already and still.. when he sensed his sisters, or worse, his mother scheming and shifting through the lands.. he could scarcely compare. One day, he did intend to measure up better.. but they were always going to be on a different plane than him.

Now, though, he exhaled a heavy breath and decided to chance his luck. First, with an outright taunt, but he welcomed whatever his sisters may bring upon him. He loved them so fierce and looked up to them so boldly that anything, he was excited for, and was just happy to be with them--even if they were stalking him like he was prey. He loved it.

Should he break this into a full on clash, he intended to be ready. He did pack an alright bite, if he thought so himself. If not? Well, he was still pretty fast... and against more than one, he knew what his odds were inevitably, but it wasn't going to stop him today.
givin this a weird lil wrap, its old <3
