back to the years of loo-lee-lie-lay - Evening - June 28, 2018

Dusk fell as Evening rose to her paws and crawled out from under the protection of a very large tree, under whose roots she had been napping since dawn. Now it was the time for exploration and hunting. Summer was still in its early stages and it wasn’t exactly warm here, but she knew it would be possibly unbearably hot soon in the middle of summer, so she was enjoying these cooler temperatures while she could. The good thing about summer was that smaller prey animals were in abundance now. That would make hunting a lot easier, potentially, since there would be more to choose from. She’d had bad luck hunting recently, so she was hoping for at least a rabbit or something to sustain her for the moment. She was losing too much weight and was afraid she might have to come groveling to the borders of some pack soon if she could not catch food for herself.

She stretched and then meandered about the forest, rather enjoying this place. She could hear the sounds of many smaller creatures skittering about the undergrowth and bent her head to take in any smells nearby. She followed the scent of a rabbit back to its hole. It was not there, inside, but nearby, eating. It sat bolt upright at her approach and stared at her. She stared back. There was a tense silence for a few seconds, and then the rabbit took off with lightning speed, Evening close behind. Alas, she could not catch the creature, her lack of energy being her ultimate downfall. She watched dejectedly as she finally gave up the chase and it disappeared into the rapidly failing light. Another night hungry unless she tried again. She sighed, sitting down, and waited for her energy to return.

RE: back to the years of loo-lee-lie-lay - Ikkuma - June 28, 2018

She had been tracking her own dinner when a flash of movement caught her attention; the creature had escaped one potential death only to run headlong in to her, which was fortunate. Ikkuma did not waste time - seeing her opportunity (and having vowed months ago to never let herself go hungry again) she cut through the prey animal's path.

As a squeal broke through the quiet of the glade, Ikkuma wondered why the plump hare was running at such a clip to begin with. She gathered its remains and began to plot a course through the foliage without hiding her presence, going in the direction the hare had sprung from. Aside from the heavy scent of blood and food, she managed to find clues - a canine scent, some broken shoots of grass, an erratic pattern indicating a chase - and eventually spotted a silver-white shape.

She dropped the hare and hastily shouted, "Hey, you!" Which could've been made to sound a little more friendly, but whatever. Ikkuma just wanted to get the strangers attention.

Sorry lmao I was not expecting this response out of a character like Evening. It just happened??

Evening turned, startled, and saw a darker wolf… with a hare at her paws. Of course she could not be sure, but she decided right then that this wolf had stolen the hare that she herself had failed to catch. Evening was suddenly, uncharacteristically, angry. It came about instinctually — a fight over food — but the albino had never expected it to happen to her. But she was slowly starving to death and here was food right in front of her. Reason had flown right out the window and Evening was all hackles and teeth and she marched right up to the other female as if possessed by a demon.

The way the stranger turned and glared at her should've clued her in to something. They stalked over and as soon as Ikkuma caught a glance at her angrily contorted features she was drawn towards their eyes - they were red! What the fuck! Rather than do the charitable thing upon being confronted by the oddly spectral wolf, Ikkuma mentally "noped" and reversed her course. With a surprisingly nimble back-step she returned to her spot looming over the deceased hare and sharply dipped her snout towards it, trying to scoop it up in her teeth without taking her peripheral attention off of the oddity.

Short post cos... fight post.

Evening growled loudly, letting out a bark that would have normally surprised her, but full instinct had taken over and she was no longer herself. She was hyper-focused on food and this bitch was trying to steal it — or eat it — as Evening charged at her. She kept running full-tilt, hoping to bash her body against the other wolf’s.

RE: back to the years of loo-lee-lie-lay - Ikkuma - June 28, 2018

The wolf came charging at her and Ikkuma was forced to go backwards at a faster pace, hardly fluid as she did so. She wasn't about to be bullied by this desperate creature. At the same time, she knew fighting with the hare swinging from her jaws wasn't going to cut it. She reacted swiftly, tossing the hare sideways and out of view, then braced herself against the soil and lunged with bared teeth at the ghost; however, her defensive swerve did not land.

RE: back to the years of loo-lee-lie-lay - Evening - June 28, 2018

Evening did not even notice when the other wolf attempted to defend herself. The bite did not land, anyways, so it didn’t matter. She eyed the direction of where the hare had been thrown, wanting to go to it and tear it to pieces right then and there, but she needed to deal with this woman first. She would show her not to steal food! She lunged forward and snapped at the woman. Her teeth barely even grazed the other’s wolf’s pelt, doing all of… one damage. Good job, Evening.

HP: 50
Attack Damage: 1 (d10) LOL
Hit/Miss: 4 (Even hits)

RE: back to the years of loo-lee-lie-lay - Ikkuma - June 28, 2018

Having grown up a scavenger, it was not trained in to Ikkuma to show kindness or leniency in times of crises. It was a wonder she had even attempted to go after the thin ghost - but, lesson learned. She'd be unlikely to make the same mistake twice.

Half expecting the girl would take the bait of the disowned hare, she was taken aback by the voracity of the pale one's resumed assault; then again, fighting was what she excelled at, it got her blood pumping like nothing else. Ikkuma would fight for her precious safety and space if the need arose, and clearly this girl wasn't going to back down.

Ikkuma let the stranger expend energy, even slackened her posture to invite her in close, only to charge and throw her weight around. Eager to dissuade, Ikkuma snapped her teeth with an eagerness that would've made her brothers proud.
HP: 49/50
ATTACK: 10 (d10)
HIT/MISS: 2 (even is hit)

RE: back to the years of loo-lee-lie-lay - Evening - June 28, 2018

Evening let out a sort of throaty scream as the other wolf’s teeth clamped down onto her hide [being vague cos idk where she was bitten]. Later, if she lived, she would nurse her wounds and wonder what the fuck had overcome her senses to make her so insane. Right now, all she saw was red and now the scent of blood—her own—filled her nose. It drove her mad, even madder than she had been, and she viciously snapped her own jaws at the female. But the pain and severity of her wound were greater than she was aware of, and she stumbled when she turned, missing the female by inches.
HP: 40/50
Attack: 10 (d10)
Hit/Miss: 3 (even hits)

RE: back to the years of loo-lee-lie-lay - Ikkuma - June 28, 2018

She grabbed something - a lucky shot - and tasted blood. As soon as she did this, Ikkuma released her grip. It wasn't her desire to maim this mindless specter; she was a warrior, not a killer. But the pale girl would not relent, so the Anneriwok was forced to counter her efforts with more snapping teeth.
HP: 49/50
HIT: 2 (Even is yes)
DMG: 6 (d10)

RE: back to the years of loo-lee-lie-lay - Evening - June 28, 2018

Evening’s injuries were catching up to her, another bite added to the first. She whined for the first time, her young, weak body unable to cope with the attacks. She attempted to nip the female but missed again, half-blind with pain, as well as, you know, general blindness (nearsightedness). After her failed attempt at causing the wolf an injury, she found her legs weakening beneath her and suddenly she was slumped against the ground. She breathed hard and fast and didn’t even have the energy to look up into the face of her attacker. (Technically Evening was the attacker because she started it, but at this point, tired and hurt, she saw the other wolf as the bad guy, as opposed to someone trying to defend themselves).

She then promptly passed out from all the exertion, and from the shock of getting into her first real fight. In all actuality, it hadn’t been much of one, although Evening would have scars later from the encounter, but for this yearling, it was pretty traumatic, and she would look back later and think about how stupid it had been. For now, though, she was too busy being passed out to care.

Exit.

HP: 34?? I think? What is math, it doesn’t matter cos fight’s over.
Attack: 10 (d10)
Hit/Miss: 1 (even hits)

RE: back to the years of loo-lee-lie-lay - Ikkuma - June 29, 2018

It came as a surprise when the pale girl withdrew, not that she would ever complain. If anything, Ikkuma was more annoyed that the combat had ended. She was just starting to pick up her pace and get in the swing of it — and then the stranger was backing off, showing a heightened sense of self-preservation which had previously been vacant throughout the interaction. They didn't even go after the hare; this was all so bizzare, and for a few moments Ikkuma just stood there, gawking, confused.

But, with a nonchalant shrug, she turned and fetched her prize, and then got the hell outta dodge.
