welcome to the car wash - Charon - July 17, 2018 Charon had brought @Revui to the borders that day after he'd been asked many times if his old man could teach him some tricks. Revui was quite the fighter, and though his looks were more and more like what Charon remembered Levi to be each day, his personality was completely different; much more like his parents. @Yami had been listening in on Charon promising to bring Revui and had then launched a loud assault of noise until she was finally promised that she could come, too. Since he didn't see anyone else to throw Yami at and he didn't feel like arguing Charon let her tag along, too, as they set off towards the borders. They crossed the forest at the base of the mountain, where the birthing den had been, and kept following a narrow, winding path thick with the scent of Moonspear wolves -- clearly a well-traversed path -- until eventually the trees made way for the plains that lay beyond. The last trees of the forest were the last line of defence, where Moonspear scent was thickest. RE: welcome to the car wash - Revui (Ghost) - July 19, 2018 ✴ Being brought on a special trip with dad was a huge honor, not that Revui understood honor just yet. He was covetous of his father's attention and quite eager to be on the move, so as soon as they began his spirits soared — only to be curtailed by the addition of Yami — and once the trio set off, he was far more controlled than he would've been had they been alone together. It wasn't that he disliked his sister, he loved all of his siblings a tremendous amount, but his sights had been set on this special time with dad, and that seemed like an impossible thing now that she was with them. He tried not to let it get to him too badly, and kept pace with Charon without complaint; he did cast Yami a few harsh glances as they made their way, but all of that subsided as the trio reached the fringe of the territory, at which point Revui looked to their father for instruction. RE: welcome to the car wash - Charon - July 25, 2018 It was good for his children to learn to share, even though neither of them seemed to be that enthused about the other being there too. Yami was just generally excited, but whenever Charon'd give his interest only to Revui she would find something to be more excited about than her leviathan brother, then pretend it was unintentionally so. "Don't stray too far," Charon instructed his children as they reached the borders. "This is the edge of our territory. We must make sure that strangers know that it's ours -- we do this by leaving our scent at the frays." Charon rubbed his shoulder against a nearby tree, leaving a few white hairs here and there, to illustrate his point. Yami was quick to spring into action and started rubbing herself against trees here and there, never seeming to stay on one tree for more than a few seconds before spotting the next one that needed tending. RE: welcome to the car wash - Revui (Ghost) - July 26, 2018 ✴ The first thing he did was look to the trees, and Charon explained why they were there and why it was important they protect the edge of the claim. The next thing he did, with a brief glance at his sibling, was drop shoulder-first against the dirt. He did an uncoordinated somersault against the base of a tree, trying to align his back with the smells that had collected there; the boy then wriggled as if he were scratching an itch. When he rose again he was coated with a dusting of brown soil, and there were tangles of dry, baked golden grasses tangled in his coat. But he had gathered those scents to himself as if to reinforce that he was a child of Moonspear—although nobody could doubt that. He looked at his father again, his tail wagging and attention focused upon him. After a few seconds to bask in the praise he expected to get, he looked pointedly at Yami as if to say, neener-neener-neener! Of course, Revui couldn't go around somersaulting at every point, so after that initial try he began to temper his efforts. A few scratches in the dirt with his forepaws, a shoulder-check of a tree, the rub of his cheek against a spot his father had just tended to, whichever — he was Charon's doppleganger, a little silver ghost intent on being his father's favorite. RE: welcome to the car wash - Charon - July 31, 2018 Charon rubbed his shoulder against another tree, leaving some white hairs behind, and looked at Revui to see how his son was doing. Meanwhile, the little Levi-lookalike was copying the behaviour and also rubbing his scent over several places in the borders. "Good job," Charon praised; "It'll go faster when you all help." Yami, meanwhile, was just off running about, distracted by all manner of things -- rocks, birds, butterflies, leaves, bugs, her own tail -- while occasionally helping along half-heartedly with a quick roll on the floor. It wasn't difficult at all for Revui to be top of the class on this one. She was so busy doing all the other stuff that she barely even registered Revui's neenering, but when she did see it Yami huffed at him as if to say nuh-uh you're not better than me at this even though he very clearly was. So for the day Revui slipped easily into the spot of being Charon's favourite. He was trying hard while the other kid was mostly goofing off; but it was fine the way it was. Each child had their own strengths, and at this point in time, attention and discipline was clearly not Yami's. "We should also keep our eyes on the outside world," he then instructed as he glanced out over the open fields beyond the forest's frays. "If there are any strangers that don't smell like pack, we should make ourselves look big and strong so that they'll scram." RE: welcome to the car wash - Revui (Ghost) - August 04, 2018 ✴ His silver pelt was coated in a fine red dust from all the rolling, with pine needles tangled in the more unruly belly fluff that still grew along his underside and extremeties. Upon righting himself he caught a glance at Yami which earned a green-eyed glare, but then he was nonchalant, shaking the detritus off of himself. The boy placed himself alongside Charon in the next few moments, nosing at his father's hip the way a child might tug at a shirt sleeve, and his ears pivoted to listen to the next part of the lesson. It was something he knew he could do — this puffing up, looking bigger thing. Revui was already on par with being one of the larger children but the prospect of being even bigger, of playing this game of being menacing to outsiders, was right up his alley. When Charon mentioned looking bigger and stronger, he bristled and comically scrunched up his face to look as scary as he could. RE: welcome to the car wash - Charon - August 30, 2018 It didn't take much for Revui to take his advice to heart. Charon smiled as he watched his son puff up, then turned his head to look away briefly when he couldn't suppress a grin. Revui didn't look very threatening, more like comical considering he wasn't anything like a menacing warrior; especially not to the father who had raised him. But Charon knew that he would be one day if he tried -- Hydra, Lyra and Alya were a great example of what heights his children could achieve -- therefore he didn't want to discourage his son. When he turned back to face Revui again it was with a stern but approving nod. "You'll make a great guardian," Charon praised. Revui already loved fighting and scrambling around with his siblings and adults alike. He was already working hard and he'd get there, Charon was sure, with his work put in. "Let's finish this round up." Yami was still tagging along, though Charon'd forgotten mostly about her as she got distracted by things and then would run to catch up, whereas Revui stayed close to Charon, listening to every word said. |
