For the King. - Horcrux - June 23, 2014 @Majesty Koning -- or King, that is how the lanky Mees -- nothing more than a newly squire -- in the kingdom of Wheeling Gull Isle, would describe the male who accepted him. Two days had passed since he was granted access, and while exploration was high on his to-do list, all the new impressions left him behind with shaking knees. He barely absorbed anything as his thoughts still ran like a rollercoaster through his mind. He had spend the last two days trying to hunt mice, prey that was easier to come by now that the summer was rolling around. Hours after hours he made silly attempts and just at the point he was about to give up, he caught one. Proud the young male was now trying to track one of the fresher scents of Majesty Koning. He wanted to give a gift, as Majesty had given him not only chance but also hope. Now Mees had to step up to the game and proof his worth. But the lanky black wolf was neither the bravest nor the smartest of them all. RE: For the King. - Majesty - June 23, 2014 For future reference, you can just tag me by putting @*Majesty at the beginning of a post. (TAKE OUT THE * OR IT WON'T WORK.) Doing that sends a PM to my inbox telling me someone tagged me and giving a link to the thread. If it works, the writing where you tagged me will be blue. If it doesn't work, it'll still be black. All you have to do then is click the edit button, don't do anything, and click Update Post. That should make it work. If it doesn't work again, just click the Edit button and do the same thing over again.
Majesty was wandering the small coniferous forest on the right side of the island today. It was warm out. Not as warm as it could have been - for which he was grateful - but still warm enough to be noticeable. Over the last few days, the alpha had noticed an influx of mice running amok in the forest, probably due to the warm weather. There were enough of them so that everyone would be full even if all they ate was mice. Because of this, he didn't mind the amount of them. Food was food, after all.
During his wanderings, he came across Mees, the newest member of their pack. The small male's timing had been impeccable, since Majesty was still sore over losing Beric, who he had been tempted to give the Beta rank, alongside Ypres. He shrugged the hard feelings off. He had Erika now, and Naya, who was still his friend. The others, he thought, were still upset with him, but they would get over it with time. He shook his head to clear his thoughts and approached Mees, who was holding a mouse in his jaws. "Good day," he said, smiling. "I see you've been helping take care of our rodent influx." RE: For the King. - Horcrux - June 23, 2014 Mees was very naive and innocent about the pack's dredgeful history as -- from the ashes -- Majesty was challenged to build something anew. He was also very much new to being into a pack once more, his memory loss -- the black hole -- had whipped out all the details of his former pack. He was clueless but not stupid when it came down to pack formalities. As Koning appeared into his eyesight, a sudden heavy lump appeared into his throat and his heart began to race. He felt just as nervous as when he first joined; maybe it was because he wanted first impressions to be picture perfect. "Hell-o.." Mees said very jello as he changed his body language accordingly to reflect the difference between being top dog and ..the bottom dog, 'under dog'. Without further adieu Mees dropped his little prey from his mouth and pushed it gently towards Majesty. Then, he mumbled. "A gift. A thank-you." A subtle smile appeared on the ridge of his leathery lips before he stepped back. "I..--.." There was so much his curious spirit wanted to ask, for it was curious to learn more about the pack -- but he remained silent. RE: For the King. - Majesty - June 23, 2014 Majesty could immediately tell that the newest member of his pack was feeling very uncomfortable at the moment. He watched as the black wolf dropped the mouse and pushed it towards him with his nose. Then he began stuttering, and seemed to cut himself off at the last moment. But the alpha knew he had been about to say something. He smiled to the young one. "Hey," he said gently. "I may be the alpha, but you can speak your mind around me, alright? And thank you for the gift. Perhaps you and I should go hunting together one day. Would you like that?"
He laid down on the forest floor and crunched on the mouse for a moment. "To be honest, I'm not very good at catching small prey. My large body lets me lumber only. I am fast, but not usually fast enough to catch anything other than deer and the like. Perhaps you could give me some pointers." He smiled at his shy companion, waiting for his response. RE: For the King. - Horcrux - June 24, 2014 Mees felt as if his tongue was violently ripped from his throat for one second for he wanted to speak to the King but nothing -- not even a sigh -- passed from his leathery lips. Inwardly he felt like a fool because he failed to make a good impression. However, his foolishness was surprisingly answered by an understanding kindness. When Majesty said that he was bad at something, a frown of disbelief appeared momentarily on Mees' face. How could a King be bad at something? Then he realized that even superheroes had weak spots. "I could teach you; but we'll have to work together." Mees said while puffing his chest forward with a small ounce of pride; happy that he could teach the King something in return. "But I'm a squire and you're a knight, can you teach me how to be a knight?" Mees needed to search for his confidence and what Majesty could offer was a role model. He did not have a father or a mother -- at least they were eaten by the 'black hole', he was too old to be adopted. But for role models, no; no one was ever too old or too young to have a role model. RE: For the King. - Majesty - June 24, 2014 Majesty laughed when Mees called him a knight. "Oh? Is that what I am? A knight? Well! Thank you, young squire." He winked at the wolf. "Maybe I will teach you a thing or two. You are looking to become an Outrider, yes? I could teach you how to easily run for hours without stopping and without feeling tired. I am an exceptional runner, if I do say so myself."
Majesty stood from his small snack of a mouse. "Would you like the training to begin now? Either for my hunting lesson or your running lesson? I wouldn't mind. There is really nothing else to do right now." He smiled encouragingly at Mees, glad that he had chosen to let this newest member join. RE: For the King. - Horcrux - June 24, 2014 At ease soldier; and don't forget to breathe in, and out. Majestic's docile and friendly nature made Mees feel more comfortable as the seconds were ticking by. The Alpha was a warm-hearted wolf, open to jokes and jesters but also serious when the situation required him to be. That wasn't true for today, though. "I'd totally love to be an outrider. I'd betcha I'd be the bestest Gull outrider there is out there!" His claim to be the best was obviously playful by nature for a secretive smile curled up his leathery lips. "And, I also bet I can race faster than you to the edge of the galaxy and beyond; I challenge thee to a run!" But before his lanky paws would be set into lightning motion, Mees had one question left. "Before rushing off, could you tell me more about this pack? When was it founded and what's the thought and story behind it?" Mees planted his butt on the ground, curious to see what his Alpha had to say. RE: For the King. - Majesty - June 26, 2014 Yay! I can use this as a Chronicler thread!
Majesty chuckled at Mees' curiosity about the pack, and sat down also. He knew there was no talking the yearling out of it, so he might as well get comfortable.
"Well," he began, "I started this pack about a month ago now. Originally, I was from a pack of Silvertip Mountain wolves, to the southeast of here. I was, apparently, almost promoted to the Beta rank, or so I've heard. But I didn't stay long enough to earn the rank. I found, over time, that the alpha's methods of running her pack clashed greatly with my own personal beliefs, so I left. I left to begin a pack whose wolves did not resolve all of their differences immediately with violence." He cleared his throat before continuing, wondering where to begin next. "I found this island not long before I left Silvertip Mountain, and immediately fell in love with it, so that I knew exactly where I wanted my pack to be once I began gathering members. After only a few weeks of hard work, I had gathered three other wolves besides myself and we settled here." He smiled. "Not long after that, my mate, Erika, originally of Silvertip Mountain, came to join me." He paused, and then asked, "Is there anything else you want to know?" RE: For the King. - Horcrux - June 27, 2014 :D Perfect! His ears stood erect like little beacons, hungry for the story. If there was anything he loved, it were stories; he was a good listener. So when Majesty began to speak, his leathery lips were locked and his eyes were focused upon his imagination and creativity as he tried to change the words into a motion picture story. Of course like every yearling -- and young boy -- he enjoyed stories the most if they contained excitement and adventures. To hear that the Isle was a relative new pack came as no surprise as the lingering scents were still fresh. Still, the choice to settle upon an island was unusual yet interesting. However, that wasn't the only thing that peaked his interest. Mees was more curious about these personal beliefs and pack relationships right now; the past could definitely influence the future. "What personal beliefs?" Mees questioned like a curious little child after Majesty had told his story. "What is this Silvertip Mountain and where do we stand with them now?" RE: For the King. - Majesty - June 27, 2014 "What personal beliefs?" Mees asked. "What is this Silvertip Mountain and where do we stand with them now?"
Majesty chuckled. "So you do have more questions. Very well." He took a breath. "My belief is that, despite being a wolf, whose every instinct tells him to attack all who threaten him, and all who invade his territory, I do not hold to that. Under dire circumstances, such as I am forced to fight for my life, I will attack another. Under any other circumstances, I wait and listen first. What is the point of harming myself and others if there is no real reason to?" The alpha sighed. "Unfortunately, Jinx, the alpha of Silvertip, does not agree with this line of thinking. She is far too territorial for my tastes, and far too quick to anger. I feel she sheds blood too easily, and with a lust I do not care for. She and her wolves would do well to learn patience, but it is no longer my job to try and curb their violence. It was probably never my job." He stared off into space for a moment, thinking of all he regretted about the way he had so unceremoniously left - been chased away from - Silvertip Mountain. And then he shook himself and came back to the present, looking to Mees. "In regards to our pack's standing with Silvertip Mountain... I will say this: be cautious around any Mountain wolf you come across. Only attack if necessary, run if things begin to look dangerous, and never go near their territory if you can help it. They will kill you if given the chance." He sighed. "I don't mean to scare you. I just want you to understand. Do you? Do you understand?" Here, he looked in Mees' eyes, searching for confirmation that the boy had heard him and was listening still. This was important. RE: For the King. - Horcrux - June 30, 2014 Making an OOC ending paragraph to this thread due to circumstances. Mees tipped his head while listening carefully what Majesty had to say and taking it into consideration. He was a very instinctual wolf, so when the Alpha explained he wouldn't threaten or attack all who invaded his territory, the yearling thought what he would do instead. Roll out a red carpet and welcome anyone who wanted to trespass? With this afterthought he remained silent as the King shared more strategic information. He learned that the strategy under all circumstances was to wait and listen. This surprised the yearling as he could imagine that in some situations, waiting and listening would no longer work. However, he could also imagine that he didn't belong within Silvertip as they were more vicious opposed to diplomatic like Majesty. When Majesty explained to him that he was under a pending death threat -- with all his adventures outside -- just because he joined the Isle pack, something inside Mees snapped. "I'm not sure if I understand." He honestly said, not wanting to be a pawn in somebody else's war, but it wasn't certain that Majesty wanted war. But did he have a choice if Silvertip and all its members stood on this borders for bloodshed? In fact, that last he questioned. "But, but what peaceful countermeasures have you taken so far? And what will happen if Silvertip-gang-bang stand upon your borders, wanting nothing but bloodshed?" Because -- if Mees heard it straight -- that was what the mountain pack wanted. Ending. Mees listened to many more stories and questions as he gained more information about the foundation of the pack. When the sun settled, each wolf departed into a different direction. |
