The trouble is, you think you have time. - Elixir - July 28, 2018 Forward dated 3 days. Thanks for giving her the whump @Ghoul Elixir was her usual happy self, drifting farther from the band as they made themselves comfortable on the mountain. Her naivety was something she hadn’t shown for a few days or so she had thought. Wondering from the band can leave her helpless, but she did it anyway. With the band not in sight or ear shot she decided to have an adventure down the mountain to see what was available. The wolfdog started down the side of the mountain careful with her paw placement. She was wondering around where it looked as though a fire had taken place. It was dark and the trees were stripped of their greenery, every bit of nature was a shell of what it used to be. Her brow furrowed as she thought about what could have happened or did happen. A shudder came over and she shook her body. It was an eerie place to be which her mind told her to get out but her paws told her to keep going. Unfortunately she listened to her paws instead of her mind. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Ghoul - July 30, 2018 death had a specific kind of aroma that lingered on the wind wherever it had found its mark. that fragrance seemed to cling to each jutting bone on his weathered frame. he was made of it; born from the very terror that sniped away the last breath. the ghoul felt it, too. he knew well enough what it was that fueled him. near the mountain, the ghoul stopped to check his racing pulse. it throbbed in his neck and chest with a wicked fever. though he prowled the earth as a shadow clad deviant, he did not believe himself to be alive. after all, what sort of ripe hell could he have found if his body was still truly corporeal. narrowing dark eyes on the figure that stood out of place in the wild earth, the ghoul began to shadow step toward it without pause or concern. he was there to reap. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Elixir - July 30, 2018 The feeling was more unsteady as she stood there, her weight felt more heavy and the chills got more violent. When she looked over her shoulder again she saw something coming toward her. The ebony female squinted her fiery auds in hopes of seeing what was approaching but it was with no luck. It seemed like just a shadow coming toward her but as it grew bigger and came closer she realized it wasn't just a shadow. It was a very real feeling in this moment, knowing there wasn't much she could do but hope help comes. Yeah, she could howl and bark for help but would they come in time? The feeling of being alone when you're so scared and threatened by something, now she knows how the doe and her fawn felt when they were killed. The heart that was supposed to be in her chest dropped not even to the ground it felt farther, like to the roots of a tree. There was no cowering from her. If she was going to die, right here and right now, she was going to fight. This would be the first fight of her life. The one that would truly decide if she was strong enough to even be on her own. On the outside she was emotionless but on the inside she was all a mess. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Ghoul - August 04, 2018
they were all so wary - so watchful - and careful of him that they did not take the time to note the complete lack of care that was written on the dark hairs of his face. apathy was a devil and he carried it on his back with care and devotion, as if to contradict his own mentality. there was not another creature alive that concerned him, for he was already dead and he did not know what more there was to fear but the hell that he had found himself in. the ghoul mustered a gurgled sound from the back of his throat before he trudged toward her. she was different and he wondered if she actually belonged in the terrors of the suffering world at all. the wraith had never seen a dog; he did not know that her blood was tainted by domestication. it mattered very little, anyway. with a wet slapping of his lips, the ghoul marched at her and aimed to close all the distance that stretched between them. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Elixir - August 04, 2018 Her hairs were standing on their ends. Her eyes were opened wide, she knew what was to come next. It wasn’t like she was too naive not to know that she was going to die here. The only thing she could hope was that the shadow would be capable of mercy and maybe let her go with a little injury. There was no way she would get out without a scrape this time. In her life it had been so easy this far and she knew it wouldn’t last long but it blind sided her. A place with a dark past is obviously ironic that this would happen. Elixir coward up to a nearby tree, her last effort to become less of a threat to the moving shadow. If that was even the reason he was after her. The wolfdog was now in the most vulnerable place she could be in, of course she could move to the sides but she was frozen in time. The shadow was moving toward her slowly but if she was to run she knew what would happen. It was all too real for her, he would catch up to her because she would trip on something like a typical horror movie scene. The innocent woman let out a little whimper. “W-w-what do you even want from me?” She asked him in a damsel in distress voice. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Ghoul - August 08, 2018
want? want was such a simple word. the world seemed to revolve around the premise of what others wanted. the ghoul didn't care for wants or wishes. he was a visceral butcher, and it mattered very little what he wanted. instead, he was more inclined to act on those things he was skilled in. he was working to earn his soul back, after all. he needed the devil to be pleased with his actions. not answering her, the ghoul trudged forward and slathered a thick glob of crimson paste from the side of his mouth. it trailed through the dark hairs of his muzzle and then splattered against a pale stone. he coughed - a wet sound - and then lunged without another thought on the matter. his yellowed fangs and dark purple tongue were aimed to snap around the flesh of her shoulder. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Elixir - August 08, 2018 Elixir watched in fear as he walked forward, there was nothing more she could do but try and fight. The shadow coughed up sludge that ultimately fell on the side of his mouth and on a rock, disgusting. It would all be over soon if she could just fight him off, or eventually play dead. When the shadow came a certain distance he made his move and lunged toward her with his mouth wide open. His fangs looked venom soaked as she looked at him in the air with all the fear she had. It was all too much for her and she was glued in a cowarding stance flinching as he came down to her. His teeth sank into her shoulder and she could feel the flesh being sliced open. A loud yelp came from her throat as she squeezed her eyes shut. This was no time for her to be in fear, adrenaline coursed through her veins and stood on her legs. The shadow had just gotten ahold of her shoulder when she jerked back and tried for his ear. It was minor but if she got ahold of it she could do some damage to him just like he had done to her. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Ghoul - August 09, 2018
the fear had a smell - a taste on the air - as he cut the space between them. there were no hopes on his part. though he was there to reap, there was not an innate need to quell the life of the world. he would take the lives he could and grant them to the devil as payment. he would be released when he had offered all that he owed. the ghoul felt a satisfaction when he was able to contribute to the great debt. this would either go toward his freedom, or it would flee in the dead of the evening. a sickening crunch as his body made contact with the other. his teeth were fine and snapped down with precision, meeting their mark without fail. he gripped at the shoulder of the wolfdog with a reckless snapping and pulling. when she whirled on him and aimed to snap her teeth to his crown, she too met her mark. he could feel her teeth close around his ear and he wheezed into her dark coat, shaking his head violently from side to side. the pain of it was exciting. he shuddered against the grueling snap of her fangs but did not release his own hold. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Elixir - August 10, 2018 It seemed as if her attempt to get him to let go just made him even stronger. Though that was a failed attempt she let go and assessed the situation first. He had ahold of her shoulder, she was against a tree, and no one could help. Okay, now how could this get worse for the wolfdog. Elixir tried to think back about what she learned from Grezig about sparring hoping maybe something could be used to get her out of this. She put her head to her neck as he was still ripping at the flesh he had in his mouth. She could no longer feel the pain as the adrenaline replaced it. Fear was the only smell in the air as the wolfdog grabbed tried to grab his front paw in her mouth. If successful she would bite down hard hoping that this would help free up his jaws from her shoulder. Soon it would be a probably if he didn’t let go. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Ghoul - August 21, 2018
the ragged, choking, gasps of his maw were starting to strangle him. were it not for her attempt to latch to his foot, the ghoul likely could have choked to death on his own spittle while attempting to reap her. the stygian fiend was a creature that lacked a great deal of care for his own well being, but he knew the difficulty of a limb attack. it would slow him down and weigh heavy on his already sickly figure; if she were to latch hold of his leg, he would likely die. the ghoul released his hold on her and jumped back, stumbling against the movements of his own body and feeling the stones tear away at chunks of flesh on his feet while he attempted to regain his balance. once he had allowed for space to be between them, he felt he was at a disadvantage. the ghoul bared rotten yellowed fangs to the wolfdog and uttered a gutteral growl that slicked from the back of his throat like a threat from hell. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Elixir - August 26, 2018 It worked. Her pitiful attempted at getting him to let go by using her previous knowledge of grabbing limbs actually did some good. Now she stood there not knowing how to move as darkened blood seeped out of the wound and continued to roll down her shoulder and leg. The pain was non-existant as she stood there heart and mind racing as she looked for a way out. A piercing sound made her ears glue to her head as he let out a blood curdling howl. The howl just made everything seem a little worse at that point. She was scarred, going to be literally, and emotionally. The fangs that had been bared to the little wolfdog were poisoniously yellow, a color she could never forget. She looked past the shadow and seen that there was a small gap between her and him and that’s when she decided to make her move. Elixir jumped soaring through the air and made it past the small corner, hoping she missed the danger of his jaws again. If she did, she would run as fast as she could back to the band. Blood still running from her and fall to the ground, he could track her if he wished but she was headed to safety now. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Ghoul - September 02, 2018 thanks so much for the thread!
he had not done well in securing his target. she had found an opening where he had little means of protecting, and she had risked everything in an attempt to scurry toward it. the ghoul followed her with a flash of his inkjet gaze. though she had suffered damage, she did not appear to falter because of it. the hell hound released a wicked sound from the back of his throat that snapped in the air like a strangled cough. before he could move to pursue, she had already put enough space between them to make any attempt folly. the reaper felt shame and knew that the devil was playing tricks with him. he felt the burning in the base of his belly and allowed the warmth to flood his system. he had allowed that creature to escape when he could have stolen its life. he had allowed its fangs to tear into his very flesh. the ghoul cursed silently and followed the hybrid until he could not see her anymore. the drops of blood left behind were met with a dark tongue to collect them from the rocks where they had landed. not long after the wolfdog had left, the ghoul turned away and vanished into the shadows. his breathing was still ragged and strained; his eyes were searching for a new target. RE: The trouble is, you think you have time. - Elixir - September 11, 2018 Youre welcome!
Elixir had managed to get free and her adrenaline was winding down as she slowed when she was far enough away. It was starting to burn and ache so a limp was developing as she headed toward her band. Hopefully by morning she would be able to gather some things to help her, with the help of Liri. For now she limped her way back close to their camp sight and laid on her opposite side. She was still sore but was ready to sleep. For fear he would hunt her down she awoke every 10 minutes. |
