slowing down (long time coming) - Rannoch’s Ghost - August 09, 2018 Guilt gnawed within the pit of Rannoch's hollowed stomach—he should have been there when @Wisp had broken her leg. Since his daughter had been delivered back to the den by Hyacinth, Rannoch had kept a closer eye on his children. He had learned his lesson about letting them wander at such a young age. The den was quiet, and Rannoch had curled himself around Wisteria; he gently preened the top of her two-toned stripe. RE: slowing down (long time coming) - Wisp - August 11, 2018
The only wolves that Wisp tolerated holding and touching her so much were mother and father. Even Remi, her most sensitive sibling who was always looking to connect and understand, didn't get to offer so much physical contact without causing her to fret. Breaking her leg had made her more susceptible to seeking physical comfort, but only just; she still had a short fuse for it, so even Rannoch's ministrations in the silent den were getting to be too much for the black-striped babe. She fussed in his grip, just a little, just a warning that she was growing uncomfortable with being confined between his paws. The makeshift cast on her leg bothered her, too, and she reached her flat muzzle over to try to chew on the reeds wrapped around it. If she could only get her leg free, she would feel better... or so she thought. "Fa," she muttered as she tried to sink her teeth into the brace, likely to her father's disapproval. RE: slowing down (long time coming) - Rannoch’s Ghost - August 11, 2018 Rannoch had been grooming on auto-pilot, and it was only Wisp's fussing that had broken his brief stupor. He pulled his head back suddenly, and fixed his daughter with a questioning look—was she done with being groomed? Rannoch was slowly catching on to the things that triggered his daughter, and touching seemed to be at the top of that list. Although he did not understand it, he would do what he could to make his daughter happy. b]"Wisteria,"[/b] Rannoch said once he realized that she was messing with her cast,"Don't grab that. It's there to help you get better." He hated seeing her like this. RE: slowing down (long time coming) - Wisp - August 12, 2018 Wisteria managed to hook a milk tooth under a portion of the wrapped reeds and was nearly able to peel one away when Rannoch's stern voice made her ears swing back. She peered up at his leather nose from the corner of her periphery, half defiant and half submissive. "Bed duh, fa?" she intoned even as her muzzle slowly trailed down the tightly bound length of her splint. It still sucked. With a scrabble of her hind paws, Wisp extracted herself from her parent's hold and hobbled forward, only to wrinkle her muzzle and nip with frustration at the cast keeping her broken leg stiff. The softest of growls tumbled from her throat as she staggered into Rannoch's shoulder and gave her bound leg a shake. RE: slowing down (long time coming) - Rannoch’s Ghost - August 13, 2018 "Better," Rannoch agreed, "Means that you won't need your cast anymore." Rannoch motioned for the reeds that secured her leg; he was trying his best to put his thoughts into phrases that Wisteria could understand. Wisp lurched forward suddenly, with a defiant reach towards her cast and Rannoch's muzzle wrinkled unhappily. "Wisteria," he repeated, his voice firmer. While she presumably kept her hold on the reeds, Rannoch glanced around the den to see if there was anything that he could use to distract her. He found something of interest—an abandoned horse hoof not too far away from where the family slept— and turned towards his daughter with a smile. "You want something else to chew on, hm? Rannoch asked, hoping that the hoof could be the middle ground for them both. "I think I found something you miiiiight like." |
