the door and its tunnels - RIP Grezig - August 17, 2018

Grezig had recently discovered The Door and did not know how she felt about it. Apparently, it was to be a communal den site for the pack—a place to hold meetings, to shelter in bad weather, and a place where pups could safely be born. Yet there was something undeniably creepy about the place the farther in you went. It got darker and darker towards the back, but there were tunnels that seemed to go forever. The tunnels near the front were the ones for whelping and/or sleeping, but these ones in the back… Grezig shuddered to think of some poor soul getting lost in the dark back here. She turned then and went back to the entrance, poking her head through the vines and other foliage to look outside.

RE: the door and its tunnels - Yizur - August 18, 2018

During her time here, Yizur had noticed a very odd place, The Door. It was somewhat like an extremely deep tunnel, and Yizur dared to not even think about entering. It looked curious, though, and she wanted to check it out. She had noticed her older sister Grezig and headed over to her, noticing she was at The Door. "Creepy place." Yizur said, looking at The Door.

"Anyone could probably get lost in here if they ventured too deep."

Grezig, with her head poked out of the foliage, noticed that her sister had approached. ’Creepy place,’ Yizur commented, and Grezig grunted in agreement. She pulled herself all the way out of the vines and sat down in front of the entrance. Her sister then commented that anyone could get lost in there, and again, Grezig had agree.

“It is to be used for shelter during storms, as a whelping den, and for meetings,” she explained. “But yes, we will have to be careful. We must teach our pups, should the pack have any, not to go farther back than the light touches.” She turned and looked at the sky for a moment, seemingly lost in thought, and then looked back at her sister. “How are you settling in?” It was still strange to have Yizur around, having not seen her for months before they ran into each other here. “Do you miss home?” It was also strange to considered home. She no longer truly thought of the forest in which she had been born as home. Now, home was wherever her new pack was, whether it be the Plateau or anywhere else.

RE: the door and its tunnels - Yizur - August 19, 2018

Yizur nodded as Grezig explained what The Door would be used for. At least such a creepy place would be able to be put to good use. She nodded again once Grezig said that the pups would have to be taught to not go farther than the light touches. Yizur had always wondered what raising pups would be like, but the kind of packs she was used to were ones where only the alphas could breed, and Yizur wished she could have her own one day, but with the "high ranks breed only", or "alphas breed only", that would be impossible for the she-wolf who was still young.

When Grezig had asked how she was settling in, and if she was missing home, Yizur decided to explain. "I've been settling in fine lately." She replied. "I slightly miss my home, but I've gotten used to being here." Yizur wondered if she would be able to make any friends with wolves from the pack, if she even did.

Yizur told Grezig that she was settling in fine and that she “slightly” missed home. Hmm. “You have only been here a few days,” Grezig commented. “It is natural to miss one’s home when one first leaves it.” In all honesty, Grezig herself had not really thought of home at all since running into Liri and Kavik. She had known from an early age that she would leave her natal pack behind. She had wanted to start her own family since she had been a year old, and that was not allowed in her birth pack. This meant she would have to leave in order to find a mate and have pups.

So, she had left. And, upon finding Liri and Kavik, and learning that potentially anyone in the pack could have pups if their ranks were high enough, she had decided to stay. Now she was Beta. What a strange ride it had been. Strange, but satisfying.

Closing this cos Yizur went inactive.

Grezig and her sister finished up their conversation and departed from the Door, going in separate directions. Little did Grezig know that her sister would soon disappear from the pack lands without a word to anyone...
