Sea Shanty - Steelhead - August 30, 2018 Anyone? @Coelacanth maybe?
He had been allowed into the sea pack with his brother and while he was happy to be back by the sea with his last remaining family member, he still yearned to convince Sockeye to leave with him and roam just the two of them. Another aid to the anxiety plagueing him was that only a few days after he'd joined, a massive fire burst on the mainland. The air became thick with smoke and ash and everyone seemed to suffer. He choked often and his throat was raw, but by now it was getting better. He was currently knee deep in the sea water, standing as still as a rock as he watched fish swim around him. He had a long leave in his mouth, tickling the surface of the water and drawing the fish closer and closer. As one curiously swam in close to him, he gingerly released the leaf and lunged, his jaws grabbing the fish behind the head tight. Quickly he carried it to the shore and dropped it, waiting till it suffocated before he picked it up and carried it inland. He picked up traces of puppies and hesitated, looking panicked before he sighed and continued onward. He dropped the fish by the den, pushing it inside to leave for the mother of the puppies before he turned away intending to head off maybe for a swim. RE: Sea Shanty - Coelacanth - September 02, 2018 The egress that opened to Coelacanth’s denning site, tucked behind a shimmering curtain of water in the shadow of Skybowl, was no longer a secret. Given the foot traffic of four growing puppies and a variety of adults, the scent trails leading to and from it were numerous and thick. Today the sheepdog watched her puppies, two pale, two dark, romp through a section of the crepuscular Labyrinth, but a soft, whispered bark warned them to caution. If they were going to be rowdy, such roughhousing was better done in the sunlight and soft earth outside. She was about to suggest this when a sandy paw slid a fish into view and then departed. Cocking her head to the side, she approached the gift with an overabundance of caution herself, as wary as @Thresher could be sometimes — but it was just a fish, and a fresh one at that, and she carried it outside with a summoning whuff to the puppies. The wolf she faced was unfamiliar to her, and she wasn’t terribly pleased about that, but Stockholm had described Sockeye’s brother — and the family resemblance was plain. The piercing nature of her cerulean eyes softened. “Peace be, Tauhou. Steelhead?” RE: Sea Shanty - Steelhead - September 02, 2018 He had tried to be quiet about it and not disturb the family inside but his retreat was disturbed by a feminine voice, an odd one at that. It was all hushed like her vocal chords werent used to being used. She also seemed foreign, like she wasn't used to the language either. He slowly turned around, eyes warm and bright with curiosity as he studied the black furred womam for a few moments, eyes widening at the blue of her eyes. "Yes ma'am, I'm Steelhead. My brother is Sockeye. I hope I wasn't trespassing, I just figured you may need some food with all the little rascals here" he responded his tail giving a slow sway behind him. His eyes moved behind her to stare at the puppies, a surge of anxiety making him lift a paw nervously. For some reason puppies made him nervous, he was always so scared he would accidentally hurt one or he'd be asked to watch one and they'd get hurt on his time or run off somewhere. Even so, her babies were extremely cute and he gave them a wary smile. RE: Sea Shanty - Coelacanth - November 02, 2018 Ah! The confirmation that this was Steelhead, the once-lost brother, allowed Seelie to relax a fraction. She was happy to know that the brothers had been reunited here on her island. What concerned her was the lurking anxiousness in Steelhead that she had not detected in his brother. Experience told her that nervous wolves were not altogether to be trusted, and while she did not find Steelhead to be an overt threat, she bade her children through a mixture of gestures and mouthed words to bear the fish-gift to their father. They complied, a sixteen-legged knot of fluffy fur, each of them jostling to help carry it, and Seelie watched them fondly before inviting Steelhead for a seaside walk-and-talk. |
