set his face toward the mountain. - Gilead - September 08, 2018 The meadow was something of great purity, he could tell by the way the light caught upon the green leaves of the earth-locked shrubs; their berries were plentiful, ripened by the holy gaze of the Lord, and the wandering boy took his time as he plotted his course. He stopped time and again when the allure of the bounty became too great to ignore, and he carefully plucked berries with delicate nips of his teeth; they were dark and soft, filled with lucious juices that turned his tongue a deep shade of purple and blackened his salt-and-pepper chin. They were not filling but, Gilead still enjoyed his time among the plants. He felt the warmth of the Lord upon his back, and soundlessly gave thanks. RE: set his face toward the mountain. - Onyxia - September 08, 2018 It has been such a long time since Onyxia had tasted fresh berries, and she had craved them for so long since the apocalypse reached Lower Mainland BC. Her nose picked up the sweet scent from the forest she had found herself aimlessly wandering after dropping off a younger female back to her pack lands. She had seemed to have left unscathed and none of the Blackfeather seemed to have ever followed her out.. Or so she assumed.. Nares flared to the scent of the sweetness of the berries as soon found herself in the middle of the meadow. She found her lips caressing that of a sweet berry and she devoured it like it was going out of style. She paused short as she had let her guard down not seeing the male wolf beforehand as she approached the berry bush. She was standing a few hundred feet from him, and wondered if he even saw her. She ducked low to take cover, but it was of no use, he must have seen her by now, as her black pelt stuck out like a sore thumb in the wind. Golden eyes scanned the terrain carefully as she slowly poked her head upward to have another look. He too was enjoying the berries. Berries were a scarcity, and they were precious. Her mind instantly moved to defence mode as she devoured more berries from her place of hiding before she made herself clearly seen; stepping out from her hiding spot realizing he wasn't there hunting for her, as he simply was enjoying the berries. It's nice to see sweet berries growing here! She spoke clearly as she stepped out confidently toward another bush that offered several more berries. She only found herself wandering a few feet closer to the silver male, inch by inch as she picked and ate. Her belly was getting full, but she wanted more, to stash away for the next day, but there was no way of doing so. I have not seen berries in so long... She added. Onyxia by the way.. She announced her calling with a yip after a smack of her lips taking one of the bitter ones. RE: set his face toward the mountain. - Gilead - September 08, 2018 Some of the less promising berries were left to drop against the soil. It may have been considered wasteful to any other creature, but the boy knew that his Lord would make the seed take root and bring life again; he continued to glut himself upon the berries until he felt nearly full, and pulled away with a deep sigh of contentment. It was during this moment that Gilead spied a shape. At first it was a shadow — a blackness that marred his vision and made him think of ill omens, as all dark things were tainted things, but he had to put aside his superstitions. The stranger drew near, grazing as he had been, and then she spoke to him. The words were meaningless to Gilead, who saw her for what she was — this dark thing, this tainted thing. A shadow made solid. He wondered if these berries were her only supper — but he saw no blood, nor any indication of foul play. If the demon were hungry then the boy would protect himself; however, she seemed only interested in conversation. Nor have I,and that was the truth, for he had traveled a great distance and meadows were scarce from whence he came. His ears twisted at the sound of her name and he would have laughed, but there was a grim expression set upon his face that did not change. No demon would give their true name to a Lightbringer. She was a liar, but he would not be tricked. From where do you come from?He kept his name safe, for there was power in names. RE: set his face toward the mountain. - Onyxia - September 08, 2018 The lady was far from evil, but at times she definitely could be. She was a warrior and commander of death to those who sought for it. She knew not his judgements as he replied. He asked where she came from. She wasn't really proud of her birth place nor desired to answer his question. instead of telling him where she was from, Onyxia grabbed another berry and swallowed it whole. There was a silence between the two that felt as though it lasted eternity. I escaped the apocalypse.. South... was all that she gave him. She wasn't too keen on telling strange males where her home pack lands were only because of past enemy packs that offered male assassin's to kill off the rest of what was left of her pack. The apocalypse affected over 30 different packs, but hers was on a wanted lost only because of her stupid Alpha made a wrong kill order to a nemesis pack; now each surviving member was on the wanted list. Could he very well be one of the assassin's after her? RE: set his face toward the mountain. - Gilead - September 08, 2018 An apocalypse? He knew the term, but could not hear truth to what she spoke of. There was a tone to her words that gave him a moment of trepidation; however, the world as he knew it had not ended, so perhaps what she spoke of had yet to transpire. He felt neither apprehension nor fear when that thought struck him. The Lord would keep him safe, and all who followed the Light. There was more to her story but she wouldn't speak of it, and he would not ask. Gilead still doubted, for the only truth came from the Light — and Raas had not spoken to him in some time yet. Unfortunate,he blithely said, but there was little feeling to the boy's tone. He was bored of the topic. But he was curious, too, of this demon. It was not often that he encountered those outside of his faith and especially rare to find a creature such as this in a holy place — and this meadow, with its glorious light, was indeed holy. You should not be here,he murmured next, but there was no threat to his tone, it was just as lethargic as before. Hardly a warning; perhaps more of a promise. Perhaps your apocalypse will follow. RE: set his face toward the mountain. - Onyxia - September 09, 2018 His words tore seared through her ears telling her that she should not have been there.. Who was he to judge whether or not she should have been there? a snort emitted her nostrils as he spoke this. Then he mentioned perhaps the apocalypse may follow her... Perhaps. keeping her safe distance she didn't trust this stranger as far as she could throw him. Maybe... But I am prepared.... Are you? ... Only our Gods can save us... Her voice gave away irritation from his words and they hung into her mind as she spoke. I step where my heart takes me.... A disgruntied irritation expression could be seen washed across her face ass she fucked her tail in anoyance. What was up this guy's tail? I have come here to enjoy myself just as much as you... I haven't the time to get mingled up in bad conversation... She nodded in his direction to indicate she was done with his petty rash talk and she wasn't going to have it, not today. She was too tired and had a lot plaguing her mind. As you were.... Good day to you.... [b/] she turned away from him swiftly wanting to get out of there. She didn't care anymore of the apocalypse followed her or not, she knew what to do, she survived the first wave and knew how to survive the second one coming... She began to pad off irritated with him. She wasn't sure if her feelings were hurt or is she was just having a bad day in general. Something was amis. Perhaps a good run in the forest would have been a good outlet for pent up frustration and annoyance. RE: set his face toward the mountain. - Gilead - September 10, 2018 She spoke of gods, which further cemented his view of her as a creature of the Darkness. All of creation was a product of the Lord of Light; every life blessed by him, each identity created because he willed it. There were no others to contend with, save for the Darkness and it's many faces. To hear a stranger speak of gods — it was easy for Gilead to judge this girl as a heathen, and he was pleased to see her flee before him. Perhaps he would find her again once he'd amassed a flock, and their righteous fury would purify these darkened places. |
