battle torn and holy - Helix - September 19, 2018 This morning, Helix moves swiftly. She does a round on the southern border and considers visiting the sound again but thinks better of it. Instead, she moves through the fields she’d spent time in with her son and, later, Étoille. She is no more familiar with it than anything outside of Drageda so she moves aimlessly, taking in the sights and smells as she gets further and further away.
It’s been a few days since she’s hunted and out something in her belly and now is as good a time as any. Finding something easy out here will be beneficial, something small since she is in her own, and if she is to find something bigger perhaps she has time to return to the borders and gather others. For now, she moves with little purpose, absorbing what she can along the way. RE: battle torn and holy - Easy - September 23, 2018 Going by the plateau had been a painful experience. She hadn't visited, but had stopped by the foothills of Adeline Laughs to sniff around. There were fading traces of her family's scent, and new bones beside what was left of Chaska. Blackbear had blinked away tears before fleeing the scene, her healing hurts suddenly raw once more. But that had been a day ago, and she was still soldiering on. Back in lands she knew, but hopefully well away from any familiar faces. If she really wanted, she could go to Undersea to be sheltered by her aunt... but that was a last resort. She wasn't ready to face even Coelacanth just yet. The appearance of another wolf drew her attention. Blackbear changed her direction just slightly, now heading toward the other. "Hey," she barked, tail wagging in a tentatively friendly manner. RE: battle torn and holy - Helix - September 23, 2018 Her nose twitches as the scent of another is carried upon the thick, salty wind. Her head lifts and she turns, spying the younger female altering her direction for her. Helix’s gait slows to a stop and she distracts herself from searching for nothing in particular. The trails she follows lead her nowhere, or don’t even begin at all, but she rolls it off her back as best she can.
The closer the stranger gets, she sees the youthfulness to her—the same as Lava, perhaps similar in age—but she does not like the sadness of his disappearance to her features. “Hey,” she responds and falling silent. The other approached her and she lets her lead the conversation, but as luck would have it, a young doe crosses the background in the distance. Helix’s attention immediately shifts like a dog spying a squirrel. RE: battle torn and holy - Easy - September 23, 2018 Blackbear didn't really have anything to say. It was just that - there was another wolf, and she was itching to attach herself to someone else already. The woman smelled like the coastal pack that she and Daddy had visited together, once. A new goal already turning in her head, Blackbear gave a friendly wag of her tail and closed the distance between them. She'd been about to say something about definitely needing to follow the older woman home when something prickled at the back of her neck. Both their gazes swung toward the doe. "Are you as hungry as I am?" Blackbear asked, not really thinking much on the question. The answer didn't matter, really. It was obviously a suggestion that they hunt. RE: battle torn and holy - Helix - September 23, 2018 In Trigeda, hunting with a stranger is unheard of. One sticks to their own easily and with the threat to their food source always gives them pause before trusting. Teekon does not offer the same and Drageda does well that she does not mind sharing with a loner for a bite; what’s left of the deer will offer her pack plenty for their growing children and recovering mothers.
Helix nods once and points back, the doe continuing on as if she does not have two observers in the distance. Saliva begins to pool in her mouth and her stomach rumbles, slowly hunkering down as she starts to slink forward. Between two capable women, they should be able to take the beast down, and so she gets into position to start chase. |
