"I don't know... do you want to go in there?"
"Yes."
How long has it been since he's seen him, now? The world shudders around him — no, it's him, he's cold, he's so cold and he doesn't know where he is, he doesn't know why he's so far from home now. But running is in his veins and even through the ice growing crystals in his lungs and eyes he breathes, he lives, he feels his limbs move as they always have.
He makes it three feet into the tunnel before they, too, abandon him to his fate. He hears a different voice, now.
"I'll stay. Of course I'll stay."
"I love you."
He breathes, he breathes, he breathes — and slowly, he finds peace.
"I don't know... do you want to go in there?"
"Yes."
