taking advantage of a deepening grey atmosphere, a dark wolf stole across the riverside glen with a swift and lengthy gait on that breezy autumn morning. he passed over brush and under branch, his steady lope driven by a force yet unseen and a purpose never spoken. he thought not of the troubles he'd seen or of the wolf who had seen him through it, but only of what he had left behind -- of what now lie ahead; like the river he splashed and swam and powered his way through with the force of a locomotive.
having accomplished the hard swim more or less gracefully, the reedy warhound churned restlessly with a burst of sinful pride as he reached the shore. he shook himself, taking on the appearance of a silvery urchin, and feeling like he could do anything in that moment, took off at a gallop down the coast.
