divinity will stain your fingers and mouth like a pomegranate - Polarys - November 03, 2018

dawn has settled over the wilds, painting the steep, ridged peak in a golden and milky pink glow. the night spent in the southern part of the evergreen forest that peppers the mount's base was chilly and frost dusts everything in polarys' sight. he puffs his chest, steeling his shoulders and giving a low shiver. his winter pelage is thick and coarse and it's kept him warm enough through the night but he knows that he cannot spend too many nights out in the open. he will have to find shelter ...or in an extreme alternative a pack soon. he lets out a low huff, breath pushing from betwixt his lips in a writhing wisp of steam and he stretches, loosening muscles stiff from a tense slumber.

he sets about settling the rumble in his stomach, finding and extracting the small mountain goat he'd taken down hours previous and hidden. his sleep hadn't been long, nor overly restful — but he was lone and he had to prioritize survival over a full night's sleep. he noses through the sinew and flesh, coloring his muzzle with streaks of crimson as he eats. he tries to pick and choose, not sure how long he'll have to make this carcass last him. another meal, he thinks. perhaps two, if he lets nothing go to waste.

he can't afford to let any part of it go to waste, he thinks as he takes another bite, ears alert atop his skull, always vigilant for tell-tale sounds of another.

RE: divinity will stain your fingers and mouth like a pomegranate - Takiyok - November 07, 2018

The early morning found the snowy leader some distance from the glacier exploring the peaks she frequently studied from atop her own mountain where she escaped to be alone. Taki had way too much on her plate currently, and it mixed with her strained relationship with her brother to create quite the heavy weight on her shoulders. Sia had taken the death of their packmate a lot harder than she had expected, and she had not seen much of him lately, nor had she scented him very much along the borders. Must she always be left to pick up his slack? Resentment spiked in her chest at the thought, bringing their current disagreement to mind. Of course when she made mistakes, he was quick to judge her harshly and shame her with his disappointment, but when he couldn't be bothered to attend to his duties, she was still expected to take care of everything. It was just too much, so she had ran far from the borders this morning to try and find some solace from her heavy burdens.

The malguk easily trekked across the mountain terrain as she sought out solitude to clear her anxious mind. She was soon met with the scent of another, though. Curiosity urged her forward against her better judgement and need to be alone, but she regretted it when she saw the male in the distance tearing into what she assumed was his kill. She wasn't sure if it was too late to fade away unseen, so she froze, studying him for minute and trying to search for any indication that her presence had been noticed.

polarys tears another strip of meat from his kill, savoring it. he eats it slower than he normally would, giving his mind time to register that he was eating in the hopes that it would signal that it was full without consuming more than he actually needs. he wants to devour it but he knows better and this time, practicality and logic wins over desire. he is lone. winter is bearing down hard upon these lands. prey still seems rather accessible ...but for how long? he knows nothing about these lands, about the migration patterns of these herd animals. he chews and swallows and lowers his muzzle, staining crimson from where it disappears into the corpse to find some other piece to eat only to look up with a snap of his head to attention at the sound of approaching footfalls.

she would've blended in well with the fresh snow that dusted this world; except for her eyes. two twin orange suns staring out at him from the delicate and pretty planes of her face. bi-colored gaze of pale silver and deep violet assess her. his hackles bristle for the briefest of moments, ready to protect his prey ...but they smooth a moment later. she appears to have froze staring at him, just as uncertain as him he presumes. he draws his tongue across his jowls in an attempt to clean them, swiping up bits of carrion that cling to the short, blood stained hairs. the stains ...they would have to fade and wash off on their own, unfortunately.

he draws in a breath, scenting the air. there is no breeze to aid him but he thinks he smells the scent of many against her pale pelage. under normal circumstances it might've made him nervous but polarys is confident that he is not in any danger of being too near any pack lands. there were no pack scents anywhere around the peak he current haunts and thus he offers a rumble of greeting, not bothering to mask his curiosity, hello.

so long as she doesn't try to take his kill from him he doesn't see any reason why he can't be civil.

Her eyes locked with his when he lifted his head from his meal. She watched him with her usual suspicion as he attempted to lick his muzzle clean. Finally, he spoke a greeting. The malguk was quiet for a minute. Had they been closer to the glacier, she would certainly have some curt words for the silver male, but they were far enough away that she was willing to be less brash than normal. Plus, he hadn't started a fight over his food that she had no interest in, which served to make her a little more receptive to a conversation with a stranger.

The snowy leader dipped her head. Hi, she offered. Taki studied him a little more after she spoke. He was big--bigger than she was, which was not the case with most wolves she met. His eyes were unusual and intriguing; one was the palest silver she had ever seen while the other was a striking shade of violet. She decided he was handsome, which surprised her. She rarely paid much attention to such things. The maguk moved a little closer and sat down, still ensuring that she wasn't too close to his food. I'm Takiyok. I live on the glacier just east of here, she offered next with a lift of her head towards home.
