no one gets left behind - Dante RIP - July 03, 2014
@Fireblaze figure we could have another one! If you like, that is! This will be set before Osprey disappeared (loving the drama, just don't want the thread to be about that)
Dante was up with the sun, as usual, though today he broke from the norm. Instead of heading straight out to hunt or for a walk about the territory he stayed where he was, silently contemplating. It still blew his mind that Peregrine had named him Gamma, but with that came some measure of responsibility. Suddenly he was that much more invested in making sure that the pack ran as smoothly as possible. And this meant ensuring that everyone was happy. He hadn't seen Fireblaze since he had met her hunting, but since she was the newest one here, he wondered how she was settling in. Making up his mind, he rose, setting off to find her. Last time he had spoken with her she had seemed upset and Dante hated to think that she might not be settling in well. If there was anything he could do to help her, he would. RE: no one gets left behind - Fireblaze - July 04, 2014 (I'm going to base this thread after thread there might be coffee.) Fireblaze was curled up in her den, crying because she now knew he hated her. He had basically snarled at her, so she left. Without thinking, she dug a hole, the dirt flying to the back of her den. She had eventually made a dip big enough for a wolf to lay in. She curled up I the hole. Sniffing, she smelled a wolf out in the clearing. It can't be Perry, she thought. It just can't. She had done everything possible to get his approval, and then she said her beliefs. She decided to stay in the den the rest of her life. RE: no one gets left behind - Dante RIP - July 04, 2014
Figured you may =]
As Dante entered the clearing, he caught her scent just as he heard someone crying softly. Well crap. Frowning, he padded slowly over to where he heard the sounds coming from, peering into the darkness of the den. "Hey," he said softly, wondering what had upset her. "What's wrong?" He hoped she would come out and talk. He'd said that he would be there if she needed anything and was serious about that offer. If someone had done something to her, he'd at least look into making it right. RE: no one gets left behind - Fireblaze - July 04, 2014 My character believes there are humans here, even though there aren't so this will be an interesting chat:). Could you jin my pack hunt thread? Fireblaze heard approaching footsteps, and tried to stop crying, but she still sniffed here ad there. It was Dante. He asked her why she was crying. She slowly padded outside of her den, sat down facing him, and stopped sniffling. "I scented something weird I the water, and I know the scent. It is humans. (lolz)They did it once before, and every wolf/ hybrid that drinks the water will get sick. "So I told Peregrine, and he told me that all my mum and dad ever told me was a lie. That they were wrong about everything. Then he said 'What is wrong with you', so I turned tail and fled." RE: no one gets left behind - Dante RIP - July 04, 2014 Dante stepped back to let her come out, then sat down, ready to listen to what she had to say. It was clear that something had her pretty well upset. As she went into her tail, his thoughts raced. He had seen humans before in his travels, but that had been much closer to where he came from than this place. As far as he knew there were none even close. He did not believe that her parents would have lied to her, though, about the danger that things tainted by humans posed. "Perhaps you are both correct," he responded. "Maybe it was something that smelled so similar as to seem the exact thing. I'm not sure how human danger would have gotten this far from where they tread, but there may very well be something in nature that seems to be the same." He frowned, concerned. "And I bet it still does contain danger, just not of the same variety. I would steer clear of it just the same." He was not too surprised to hear that Peregrine's reaction to her findings were less than diplomatic. He respected the Alpha but knew Perry well enough to see that he didn't really have any issues speaking his mind freely. Dante envied that in him a bit. It was hard to speak his mind when he was constantly evaluating how everyone around him would take every single word that he spoke. It might lead to less conflict but it also gave his personality something... lacking. Or at least he saw himself that way. Perhaps he should have a talk with the alpha about their newest member. See what his thoughts were. "I'm sorry he upset you. I'm sure that wasn't his intention." He frowned. "Have you been making any friends in the pack?" RE: no one gets left behind - Fireblaze - July 04, 2014 (My new character, Firestorm might join BDP. She is the sis I was talking about.) Fireblaze bowed her head, lay down, and turned onto her back, her soft underbelly facing upward, in submission. "No, not really. I have Pura, you, and Blue Willow. That's about it." Leaping up, she asked "Do you want to go hunting again, and try to fill some of the caches?" She bounced on her toes, all sadness forgotten as she waited on an answer. "You know, you as of right now are my closest friend. I just wish I had family. I mean, my sister was left in the sanctuary when they let me go. I don't know about her." She raced in circles around him, her puppiesh instinct kicking in, since she was still just above the juvenile tier. RE: no one gets left behind - Dante RIP - July 05, 2014 She certainly bounced back quickly. It was an admirable trait, to not let how others saw you get you down. "Just try and be yourself, don't worry too much about others think. As long as you show them respect, it's their problem if they don't like you." Dante smiled. The names she had listed were good wolves to know, he was glad that she was interacting with packmates. He was glad that she considered him her friend. She was still young, as was obvious from her actions and the way she carried herself. If he could help her out in learning to better serve her pack and find the family she was seeking, he would do all he could. "I too had a sister that I now miss. She found a new family, though, as have I. Maybe you will too. And perhaps the Plateau will be that family, perhaps not. Only time will tell." She was crazy about the hunting, wasn't she? "Sure!" RE: no one gets left behind - Fireblaze - July 10, 2014 When Dante said yes to hunting, she raced out into the forest, paused, then ran on, realizing he would be able to track her scent. She bounced around quietly, sniffing out a mouse. Creeping up on the scent, she saw a brown mousie. Pouncing, she gave it a quick nip to the neck, and picked it up. Grasping the mouse, she trotted backwards, following her own scent trail. She sat down and waited for Dante. Her tail wagged like crazy. (Oh, I have been at a camp, so sorry about the lack of response.) RE: no one gets left behind - Dante RIP - July 15, 2014 It's fine, things have been insane here
He shook his head as she took off, marveling at her energy. True he enjoyed the hunt, but not to the extent that she did. He followed where he knew she had gone, moving at a more stately pace, keeping silent and alert for any sign of movement around him. He could find no prey in the direct vicinity, but this did not trouble him. Often it took a while, and some of the prey may have noticed Fireblaze's sprint and taken cover. She might have some luck when she slowed though. He veered off the path, then slid silently and carefully through the thicker undergrowth. This took some doing with his size. Suddenly his pelt caught on a branch, pulling it away from the bush it belonged to. Dante sighed at the inevitable as the stick whipped back, setting its fellows to rustling and causing a bit of a chain reaction. This turned to interest in an instant, though, as a ptarmigan flushed from the growth, frightened to the air by the sudden wave of movement. Springing powerfully, he managed to snap his jaws around one of it's wingtips, dragging it down and whacking it with a paw. It's spine instantly broke, killing it painlessly. Pleased with his luck, he picked up the prize, then continued back in the direction his packmate had taken. When he emerged he saw her sitting there waiting, a mouse in her jaws. "Looks like we're in luck," he said, having set down the bird to speak. The one thing he hated about hunting birds, however, was the feathers. Even as he spoke he could feel one on the roof of his mouth. "Ugh." He grimaced, spitting it out and looking at the bird ruefully. "So delicious, yet covered in such irritating things." RE: no one gets left behind - Fireblaze - July 16, 2014 Fireblaze sniffed the air intently, then stopped dead. "Cougar," she whispered. She backed away slowly, dropping her mouse. "Run." She dashed into a nook in a tree. "Dante," she wailed as it came up behind a tree. "Run...." RE: no one gets left behind - Dante RIP - July 20, 2014 Dante growled as the feral stench of the cougar came over him. Fire blaze shouted to run but he ignored her... the creature was far too close to the heart of their territory and needed to be dealt with. They had pups to think of and Dante shuddered to think of one of them venturing out only to meet up with this creature. "We have to make it leave, help me!" Dante urged, ruff standing on end and lips drawn back in a snarl. Slowly he approached the cat. If she joined his guess was that the cougar would go back where it came from in search of easier prey. If so they could follow and make sure it left. It hadn't decided yet, though, and he could see the wheels turning. A single wolf might be worth the chance of fighting, even one his size. RE: no one gets left behind - Fireblaze - July 20, 2014 Blaze watched, ready to spring at the cougar to tae it by surprise, when she heard a sound. Another cougar emerged from the depths of the forest. She sprang at the new one before it could react, starting a war with it. The cougar bit at her foreleg, and she yelped, but bit its neck, killing it unintentionally. It crumpled below her. The other cougar started towards Dante, but she wouldn't let it hurt him. Leaping towards it, she grasped a foreleg, allowing Dante to do what he wanted with it. RE: no one gets left behind - Dante RIP - July 30, 2014 Gonna tie an ending on this as best I can >< this took a random direction lol
He wasn't sure where all of these predators were suddenly coming from but knew that they needed to go if the pack was to live in peace. Fireblaze it seemed had a sudden burst of courage and took care of one of them. She then was able to somehow turn and immobilize the other. Though he hated to kill without reason, these creatures were intruding and unwelcome here. The fact that they were still aggressive after being presented with quite the challenge showed how dangerous they were. Using his considerable size to flatten the cougar, Dante jumped upon it's back, ignoring the spitting. Opening his jaws, he bit down on it's neck, severing the spine and killing it instantly. Silently he rose, eyeing the beast regretfully. If only it had heeded his warning and run. "Let us put them over there," he said, indicating an area of brush where they would be out of the way. Nature would take care of the rest. "Then let's get out of here." |
