I've never seen an elephant fly - Rueger - November 27, 2018

@Nunataq

The sun had set a few hours ago, and when Rueger was sure the borders were safe, he moved inward to find a spot to snooze for a few hours. He hadn't made a den to sleep it, and the ground was probably too cold and stiff to dig one now.

With his nose to the ground, he hoped to find one that was already dug, and hopefully not already occupied. He moved about the trees, not concerned that his paws left prints in the snow behind him.

RE: I've never seen an elephant fly - Nunataq - November 28, 2018

What the damn hell??? This description of Nunataq's thoughts on the matter was pretty accurate. Snow had come as a great surprise to the teenager, who up until that point had been very sure of having seen everything in the world. The cold, powdery, wet substance was like a white blanket that covered the ground, trees and since it was still snowing, it had soon caked Nuna with a broad stripe of white on her back.

But this was not, what made her puzzled, because after half an hour of exploring it, she had come to a correct conclusion that this was an unusual form of water. And that it was in no way harmful, therefore she had continued with her daily schedule. However, soon something very cold and sharp was pricking her paws between the pads, making her stop, lift the offended paw up and inspect it thoroughly. There in her usually soft slippers of fur a piece of ice had formed. She tried to shake it off first, then growled at it, but it still did not get the message. Finally she attacked with her teeth and soon she was free again.

Not for long though.

It happened right, when she was about to engage into something very interesting (following a trail left by another guardian of the hollow). Now she felt exactly the same kind of pain in three feet out of four. Which made her yelp and growl in frustration. Unable to stand on them, she was forced to flop on her bum, keeping both hind feet and one of the forepaws up in the air. "ARRRGGHHH!" she let out an angry groan so that Rueger, who was not too far away from his incapacitated comrade would hear her clearly, and then leaned down to decide, which foot should she free first, because hopping on just one of them was out of question.

An unusual noise stopped him in his tracks a moment before he turned around. His ears perked as he began to retrace his steps, and it didn't take him long to find the source of the aggravated tone. He tilted his head as he tried to discern what was wrong and why on earth she was sitting in such a peculiar fashion. Rabies? No, she wasn't foaming. Temporary loss of sanity? That could very well be it.

She wasn't one of his leader's children, so he assumed she was apart of the new group that they had merged with a short time ago. She looked young, not even a year, he supposed. He approach slowly, as he didn't want to alarm her as she seemed to... look at her paws? He chuffed to get her attention. Hey, are you okay? he asked, pausing a few yards from her.

Nunataq leaned down to chew on her forepaw angrily, lacking the experience and ellegance in freeing the spaces between her fingers from ice, she bit her skin painfully on more than one occasion. Yelping and yipping in annoyment, every time this happened. She did not deserve this torment.

Rueger's polite inquiry was met with a frustrated gaze and a growl - What are you looking at, moron???? - though, of course, he would not read the insult precisely from her expression. She put her forepaw down and then turned to free one of the hind-paws. In doing so, he lost balance and fell on her side.

Bloody hell. She growled, lying on her side and shooting an acidic look towards her paws and then over at Rueger. Someone had to be blamed for.

But he did not seem like that kind of guy. Therefore Nuna sent another dirty look his way and marched off, limping on three feet, but holding her head proudly.
