We can sleep and see 'em coming - Ephraim - December 14, 2018

Close to Rusalka's borders. For @Tux and maybe 1-2 others!

He left the cliffs with the intention of mapping more of the beach below, but swung out into the taiga first in pursuit of a rabbit. He'd inflicted a surface wound on its flank, but in return, it left a long scrape along the side of his muzzle with its hind paw and escaped his hold. His chase had been half-hearted after that; it wasn't long before he turned back with a snort. There was a reason he wasn't a Hompleia. He was a good enough hunter to get by if he absolutely needed to, but not good enough to successfully feed the entire pack.

His gait was loose and easy as he approached the cliffs near Ankyra, where they veered off toward Drageda's claim. He hoped to go down and explore more of the caves, maybe mark a little further in today, but his plan was cut short the second he got close enough to smell the scent markers. He stopped dead in his tracks, tail bottle-brush and lashing. What the hell.

There hadn't been that many scents a mere day ago when he and Tux had gone down there. There hadn't been anything close to markers that were present now. Gritting his teeth, the young coywolf stepped back several long paces with his ears plastered back to his head. The fuck was this? Maybe it had been folly for him to believe that he and Tux could claim the beach for Drageda, but he never would have expected Eurycrates to gather more wolves to himself in such a short period of time.

RE: We can sleep and see 'em coming - Illidan - December 14, 2018

illidan spent his time on the borders to ensure that they would not see trouble during their formation. the boy did not wish to admit that he preferred the time alone; that the bustle of what they were attempting to accomplish had started to carve a madness into his mind. he kept busy, because it was in this busy mindset that he could forget about his betrayal of liri and kavik. the trekking put him into a state in which he did not have to worry about how he would fall asleep. more than this, it ensured that their borders were clearly marked with a heavy scent and that there was a body present in case any should have drawn near.

it wasn't expected that the dark-hooded wildling would happen upon his brother again. illidan had imagined that ephraim had perished similarly to their father. internally, he did not mourn the loss of his sandy sibling nearly as much as the grizzled old man. to illidan, ephraim was the reason that kierkegaard had died. so, as the savage young man prowled closer to edge of their claim and drew his sights up, he did not even recognize his own blood. instead, his lip peeled in warning and he drew his crown upward.

that was, until he saw just who was on the other side.

“you...” his gruff voice hitched against the back of his throat on the way out. a fire ignited in the pit of his belly that caused his hackles to rise along his shoulders and spine. at once, illidan transformed into a beast that did not belong to the living world. his back arched and his lips peeled into snapping canines. the boy had become a savage hellhound.
