decisions - Amsu - December 26, 2018 Will close in three days if no one replies.
Amsu had climbed mountains before, but this was perhaps one of the fiercer ones. The ground was tough on his paw pads, littered with broken, jagged pieces of rock fallen from somewhere higher up. He avoided climbing this mountain, though he heart longed to reach the top of it. The Way of Light dictated that mountains were one the sacred places, for they were closer to the sun and moon than other land formations. Every mountain made him want to climb to the top of it and meditate in the light of the day or night. However, this wish was not always practical, like when the climb was deemed too dangerous or currently unnecessary. He had studied this mountain for some time before deciding that such a place was unsuited for his family, therefore there was no real reason to climb it lest he wished to commune with the Light. But it was foggy today—not a good day for communion. With a small sigh, he stood up from his rest and intended to move on. RE: decisions - Blindside - December 26, 2018 He'd decided to stray from the forested refuge to battle the winds crossing over the mountains; looking for something yet nothing in particular. The sun was striving to pierce the snow laded clouds but to little avail. Small spots filtered through the low lying clouds that covered the stone in layers of slick dew. He called a soft screech. A mating call in vain. He was yet to find there was a lack of strigine creatures. His wide eyes cast about, searching. A wolf rose up from the rocks, including the avian. He didn't know wolves could climb so high. He swooped down, silent save for a beat of wings to speed up. He passed low and close to the wolf, close enough that the soft air from his glide could be felt upon the fur over the lupine rump. He rose and wheeled, turning back to pass another inspection of the creature. This time, however, he opted to perch upon a rock and lock the wolf in his gaze. He cooed softly, seeking reaction from the creature. He stretched out, beating his wings before nestling down again. Watching the wolf. RE: decisions - Amsu - December 26, 2018 Birds were of particular interest to Amsu because they could get closer to the sun, moon, and stars than anyone else. Their wings gave them a freedom that he envied, somewhere deep inside himself. Finding a new home would be much easier were he able to travel as quickly as this owl. He’d felt it brush over him a moment ago, and had tensed up, waiting for claws or a fierce beak, but no such attack came. Instead, it sat upon a rock nearby and cooed at him, staring with its large eyes. In wonder and joy, he stood and watched it for a moment, and then said gently, “Hello there.” He wondered what it wanted, if anything. RE: decisions - Blindside - December 26, 2018 The wolf didn't seem to be rushing towards him with a flash of those nasty teeth; instead utters soft-spoken words that he could make no sense of. He did have the idea, though, that he wasn't about to be breakfast for the wolf. He hopped off the rock, now peering up at the creature with curiosity. He hooted this time, a low, brisk sound. His beak clicked together, talons curling slightly. His head canted to hold the opposite direction, wondering what wolves actually did. Well, he knew they were easily annoyed. He enjoyed that. RE: decisions - Amsu - December 26, 2018 Its sudden hop forward and louder hoot startled Amsu, who took a few quick steps back. He was not about to cross talons with an angry owl, for those talons could probably kill him if given the chance. But the bird immediately calmed down again, so Amsu relaxed. Tentatively, he sat down and watched the bird. This was a very strange thing, indeed, to happen to him. This owl was acting outside of its usual nature… Perhaps it was a sign from the Light. After all, birds were sacred animals, communing with the Light more than most land-dwelling creatures. Perhaps the owl was there to lead him somewhere, or to let him know something. Amsu stood up cautiously and asked, “Are you here to tell me something?” He took a small step forward, his tail wagging. RE: decisions - Blindside - December 26, 2018 He stood his ground as the lupine darted back -- wondering how he, a tiny lil owl -- could scare a wolf. It dumbfounded the simple bird. He hopped backward when the wolf stepped forwards again, speaking again. He took a few more hops back and hooted again. He wondered in the wolf wanted to climb, but simply couldn't find the path. He flew a short way then landed again, looking back to the wolf. Maybe he didn't have to be a butt for now. He took off again, this time wheeling around to search for a path to help the traveler. Why was he doing this? Maybe he was just having a release of kind nature; something he kept hidden to save his own feathers. He'd certainly have to dive upon someone later. He circled back to the wolf, flying lower and slower, serving as a guide westwards. He felt a strong desire to turn in that direction and felt like the wolf would be curious too. He didn't mind flying, the mountains weren't that bad; right? RE: decisions - Amsu - December 26, 2018 When the owl took off, Amsu watched it carefully. It circled ‘round and then landed again and turned its head to look at him. He took a step towards it. “Do you want me to follow?” he asked curiously, tail wagging again. It took off again, this time going west. Its body remained relatively low and it was flying slowly. It was still faster than him, but Amsu was careful to keep up, watching its flight in the sky and making sure he was going in the same direction. A voice in the back of his mind told him he was insane for thinking that a bird would lead him to his new home—most of his religion was symbolic and not literal, anyways—but that was okay. He had intended on going this way regardless. It just so happened that he and the bird were going the same direction. Smiling, he followed along. [Exit.] |
