look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Piper - January 06, 2019 Set before this thread
The girl figured that she would trek as far as she could to the east before her legs got tired and she was forced to consider turning around and taking the coast back toward home. She was already weary after having stopped and visited Stigmata. She wished that he had been able to join her in the remainder of her journey, but she knew that he had far more important things to tend to. Piper would see him again when she had finished her search. She would turn around and go back to the mountain near the valley that he intended to roam, and she would tell her family that was to be her new home. The thought of informing her mother of such a decision was both sickening and liberating at the same time. Piper swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat and moved through the copse with her ears swiveling atop her crown. The terrain seemed so different out there; like it was meant for different wolves to wander upon it. Her long legs made easy work of traipsing through the woodland, but she had to be mindful of scent and sound in order to guarantee that she wasn’t missing anything. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Kiwi RIP - January 19, 2019 True to form, Kiwi was keepin an eye out on things. The hawkish girl wasn't about to let anything horn in on this place that wasn't approved by her or her mom, even though they weren't officially of the ground just yet. She knew the only difference between a territory and a random forest was that once you had it, you had to keep others off it, at least unless they agreed with you about you owning it. So anytime she saw a stranger, she wasn't reeally shy about it, and this was no exception. HEY!She barked out, her smaller legs carrying her fast as she could towards the other wolf. What do you want here? There was definite accusation in her voice and a clear unfriendly manner to the way she approached. Ambassador probably wasn't a trade path she'd be following anytime soon. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Piper - March 01, 2019 WOW this is late... i am sorry
The voice that flagged her down was one that would have been difficult to pretend she hadn’t heard. In fact, Piper thought that the whole place was probably aware of the it. Turning her attention around, the girl set her sights on a brown figure with glittering green eyes. The tone of the younger girl’s voice had been surprising for her age. Piper wasn’t yet a year, but she had some time on this squirt. Besides, what kind of business did she have running around after strangers and shrieking at them? “Uh… to walk through?” she answered in a tone that suggested the response should have been obvious enough to never have asked in the first place. “What do you want?” Piper then turned back around on the other with a pointed stare. Her brows were knitted tightly over her pale moon gaze. She was unappreciative of the third degree from the brownie scout. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Kiwi RIP - March 01, 2019 It seemed plain enough, but Kiwi wasn't sure she bought it. This place was nice, so she wouldn't be surprised if other wolves were lookin to settle here. If they were, they weren't doing it without agreeing to join them first. She wasn't about to let anyone other than her mom head up the copse. I'm patrolling, she said, and it was her turn to use a tone that airily said she should have already been able to figure that out. And we're claiming this place. So you can't stay unless you agree to join. A better method might have been to politely ask if she was looking to join somewhere, but Kiwi tended to tell it like it was rather than worry about formalities like recruitment tactics. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Piper - March 03, 2019 The brown girl said that she was patrolling, and that Piper couldn’t stick around unless she planned on pledging her heart and soul to their fledgling pack. The Redleaf girl almost snorted in response but managed to keep a lid on it. Her pale moon gaze squinted sharply at the other girl, sizing her up. The wildfire wasn’t so sure she even wanted to know what it would be like to get on the bad side of a group of wolves who were all similar to the one standing in front of her. “Good for you,” she remarked with a sweet grin that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “I don’t want to pledge myself, or stick around; I’m looking for my lost brother so I need to keep moving,” Piper then added in a tone that suggested the matter was very important and any deterrence would lead to all-out chaos. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Kiwi RIP - March 04, 2019 Okay. Good luck with that, she said, clearly not caring one whit about her or her lost brother. She didn't quite understand why she bothered - if her brother was stupid enough to get himself lost, she was probably better off without him. Kiwi did take a step or two towards her, though, making it clear she didn't intend to let the stranger pass through unattended. No use trusting her only to find out she'd hidden herself away somewhere or something. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Piper - March 15, 2019 The only person she was better off without was this nuisance of a stranger. Piper could have gone on with her day without ever having run into Kiwi, and she would have been pleased as punch to keep trekking forward. Instead, she was forced to stop and chat it up with some nosy little shrimp who was way too big for her britches. It wasn't until the other girl took a step forward, suggesting that she wasn't about to let the Redleaf continue without supervision. “I don't need an escort, champ,” the wildfire remarked with a swift smile and a wink. She had almost said that she didn't need a babysitter, but she felt like that would have opened a door she wasn't ready to enter. Besides, it was far more likely that her present company would have found more use out of a figure like that than Piper would have. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Kiwi RIP - March 20, 2019 Maybe she didn't need one, but she was going to get one. Kiwi wasn't charmed by the wink - she bristled slightly. She hated it when wolves made out like she was a joke. And as soon as you leave, you won't have one,she answered stubbornly. Her first task here was making sure this place was secure and a good home. She wasn't going to let some girl talk her out of doing it well. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Piper - March 28, 2019 It wasn't that Kiwi was a joke specifically to Piper. No, just about everything was looked at jokingly by the confident young Redleaf. After having trekked across half of the map in search of her long lost sibling, she really wasn't phased by much of anything. It would definitely take a lot more than a talking Snickers candy bar to shake her up. “So are you the toughest one? Is that why they sick you after helpless wanderers?” Piper asked conversationally. It wasn't like she thought she could talk her way out of the escort. She had come to the conclusion that she wasn't going to really get anywhere without the company of the stranger. All that meant was that Kiwi would have to deal with Piper too. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Kiwi RIP - April 02, 2019 No, I'm the one they know will do it right, she answered with more than a little bite behind the words. Kiwi didn't respond particularly well to needling, a fact that Piper would probably find pretty easy to take advantage of. Doesn't seem like you are doing anything super important.Looking for a lost brother didn't count. They'd probably just told her to do that to get rid of her, wherever she'd come from. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Piper - April 24, 2019 one or two more posts and i think we can wrap this. i'm sorry for making you wait so long <3
Piper did not like this little girl's attitude. Damn, she needed some adjustments. It wasn't until she mentioned that she didn't see how Piper's quest was all that important that the Redleaf girl finally seemed to snap. Her hackles rose threateningly, and she darted her gaze toward the brown figure with an expression of snide contempt. “I mean, if family isn't that important to you... I guess that's your childhood trauma. It's definitely not an issue I'm keen on tackling. Don't think I have the time to rummage through that,” Piper responded with a nonchalant bob of her head and shrug of her shoulder. It was meant as a burn and she hoped that the other girl really felt that. In better news, it seemed as though the landscape was shifting and they were getting much closer to being free of each other. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Kiwi RIP - April 25, 2019 no worries ever!
Wow, yeah, no it wasn't. She wasn't stupid enough to play into that. Not family that's dumb enough to get themselves lost. If they don't care enough to stick around or learn to find home, that isn't my problem.she shot back, figuring it's good riddance to get rid of the wolves who obviously couldn't take care of themselves. Conveniently forgetting, of course, her own foray as a pup and how she herself had gotten lost. Whatever. She shouldn't let herself even defend against whatever Piper said - strangers weren't worth it, and she wasn't looking to join anyway. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Piper - May 24, 2019 i will leave this open for like 4-5 more days if you want to throw one last reply. if not, i'll archive it <333333333333333
Finally! God, Piper felt like it had taken a fucking million years to reach the edge of their supposed claim, but she had finally gotten to where their scents had faded and she was met with nothing but wide open wilderness. The Redleaf girl turned to look at the brown guard. She cast the other girl a sly wink and a cheeky expression. “Well, this has been just… the best talk,” she offered in her most sarcastic tone. “Smell ya later!” Without so much as another word to the nuisance, Piper set off at a steady trot which quickly evolved into a full-out sprint. Her lengthy limbs allowed for her to cover a great deal of ground in a short amount of time. Before long, she had already forgotten about Kiwi and her aspiring pack. RE: look, it's getting late, so either shoot us or go away - Kiwi RIP - May 27, 2019 Kiwi bristled at Piper's parting words, but the girl was already gone. Good riddance. She sniffed, cast one last glare Piper's direction, and then disappeared back into the woods. Thank god she hadn't wanted to join, imagine living with that? |
