we've made every mistake - Dalia - January 15, 2019
from outside dalia's den, a short scuffle could be heard. there was a moment of silence, a growl, and then a loud yelling of words not from the common language. "you dumb rodent!" exclaimed dalia in her native tongue, a less than insulting slur of words expelling from her mouth. it didn't matter, of course, no one could understand her and, beyond that, no one would have been offended by what she'd said. no matter, moments after, a fat rat scuffled into the snow, squeaking and squealing before disappearing into the drift. dalia materialized just after, appearing ruffled and agitated -- a little crazy in the eyes.
"ugh!" she exclaimed, unable to see the dumb thing in the snow. and so she sat down at the mouth of her den and glared into the clearing, ears flat to her skull.
and it remained gone. dalia never found the damn thing, but it would come to torment her for months.
