Ku'uipo - Noelani - February 03, 2019 @Mawk - sorry for the short post!
The woman trotted amongst the usually flower crowded meadow, now snow-covered and barren of the sweet aroma of tulips and lilies. She knew she was close to Easthollow, though the border was uneasy and unwelcoming. However, the scent of a foreign pack lingered west, providing a ray of opportunity. Snow, admittedly, was no Noelani's favorite. After spending her entire life amongst the sunny beaches and mountains that only lead to steamy volcanos, it was easy to say she was fighting for her life.
Did she think she would die? No, her demise was out of the picture. Although she was the fittest for the wintry environment, she surely was capable of catching food and moving enough to stay alive. Admittedly, though, it was getting harder to do it alone. She was in desperate need of a home or else her suffering was inevitable to continue. RE: Ku'uipo - Mawk - February 05, 2019 Dreamland. That's what he often thought he was walking in - reality had become merged with fantasy in late hours, and often the scout walked in his sleep, amongst the clouds and the sea; where nothing could touch him, and all was at peace. He ambled with the willows, sung with the eagles, raised his wings and soared into the heavens. Sometimes he fell into the embrace of Illecebra... other times, his children were sat beside him, racing alongside him. But when Mawk woke, he knew that it was false. A lie, conjured by his brain to try and maintain some of his peace - it simply drove him insane. When he erupted onto the snow-covered meadow, void of life and empty, he stilled; breath pooling out in little puffs of frost, eyes trained on the ground in confusion. A scent had rolled over the mist, and for once, he did not feel inclined to run away. He'd been avoiding company, but perhaps something had shifted - he felt terribly alone, at war with himself and all around him. The Saefyn did not want to be. He searched. It did not take long to uncover the source of the scent (he drank in the sight of graceful vanilla), but he wondered whether he ought to back off and leave her be, or approach and make some attempt at conversation; he just... wanted to speak, wanted to breathe. It was different with a stranger, he thought, - so, with a gentle chuff of greeting, the wolfdog traipsed closer, letting the frigid air clear his thoughts and leave him with some semblance to what he was before the deaths. "Hi," RE: Ku'uipo - Noelani - February 06, 2019 Your writing in that was beautiful !
Despite being directly in between two neighboring packs, the flower of a girl hadn't expected company. She sprung backward when the stranger announced himself, her gaze filled with obvious confusion, eventually morphing into one of relief. Although his arrival wasn't anticipated it was far from unwelcome. She forced him to linger in stiff silence as she observed his face.
Finally, the she-wolf spoke. "Aloha," she sang, her voice rich and surgery like Virginia honey. Something about him was... peculiar. His smell close to the usual wolf- and Easthollow- but his musk was tainted with a less familiar brew. Wolfdog. The puzzles clicked into place once she spotted his curled tail, forcing her to smile brightly. Her home was one accustomed to many half-breeds, quarter breeds, even full-blooded dogs. They all lived in harmony amongst the rocks, but she had spoken to few longer than a passing conversation. "You're from Easthollow," Her tone had a hint of teasing, similar to a pups taunting. Still, her genuine grin made it clear she meant no harm. RE: Ku'uipo - Mawk - February 07, 2019 tysm ;-; <3
He held her gaze as the stranger inclined her head to lock eyes with the wolfdog - he was connected from afar with eyes as sweet as honey, a pool of fathomless light that he struggled to comprehend. How could she be so untouched by the terrors of the world? So pure and... and... gods, her coat was a beautiful blend of pale gold, capturing the sun's rays and painting them in the vanilla strands of her fur with an unspoken grace - he couldn't sweep over it. But then he forced himself to remember: never judge a book by its cover. No doubt she claimed some sort of secrets, just as he did. Just as everyone did. Mawk shook away any lingering thoughts, sucked away by the smooth voice that swept to the blackened tips of his ears. Aloha, she said, and though he didn't understand the meaning behind the word, he took it to be her greeting; dipping his chin toward her and waving the curled tail upon his back to show he was no threat on this frigid day. "Hello," he returned to her, but blinked in mild surprise as she made mention of the Easthollow scent upon his pelt. The teasing grin made a single brow raise in curiousity, lips threatening to tug upward in a smile of his own - what on earth was she grinning at? "I... yes, I am. You know about Easthollow?" ! - Noelani - February 07, 2019 Once their eyes were sealed onto the others she was caught off guard. His orbs revealed a kindling flame so entrancing the fae was brought into a separate reality. The pop of wood crackled in her ears as a bath of warmth radiated at her side. Fire, especially uncontained, was a beast with only the intention of devouring whatever came into its light and burning it to ash. However, this was no ordinary fire. This was the controlled flames she watched from afar, sitting humbly on a stick. This was the campfire that she and her family observed whilst two-legged men danced round and round unharmed. This was a benevolent flame she did not fear.
It was a good sign once his tail started to wag, although she didn't initially fear him tensions would always lift once she noticed a stranger's equally welcoming wag. He stuttered in response, just as she had wanted- she loved catching people of guard. "Yes, I am." That was all she would say for now. He didn't need to hear her short time lived there nor did she care to tell. The wolfdog was rugged and scruffy but not in the way she'd seen most wolves beyond Maui with disheveled fur. He was similar to the ambitious yearlings that never yielded to adventure, but she wasn't sure if that was the case for him. Either way, there was a sense of charm that came with his untidiness. "I'm Noelani," she greeted. "Who are you?" RE: Ku'uipo - Mawk - February 09, 2019 "I'm Noelani," The wolfdog absorbed the name quietly, sipping on the sweetness of her voice and the silk of her gaze - the name suited her, tropical and smooth, with hints of light sprinkled above. She reminded him distantly of spring, when flowers bloomed in the sunlight, and the rain breathed life to the flora; so very different to the fierce flame kindled within Illecebra's chest- oh god, Illecebra... what had she told him before her last breath? Go on with your life? Move on? Live again. "Mawk. Mawk Saefyn." Came the low response, deep and partially accented with the remainder of his country voice - a tone that had faded somewhat with his time among others. This girl was a breath of fresh air for the scout, who'd been so confused with the wolves in his home - the familiarity combined with an odd sense of distance provided Mawk with plenty of stress, an uncertainty of his belonging. He felt none of this discomfort with Noelani. "Are you... from around here, then?" RE: Ku'uipo - Noelani - February 11, 2019 Sorry for short phone post !
Mawk- a strong name given only to the most deserving.
The girl couldn't help but giggle, the question wasn't foolish, only an entertaining thought for her to imagine a world where she didn't spend her days climbing sea-worn cliffs and basking for hours in long-lasting beams of sunshine and instead dealt with the bone-chilling winters and hunting muscle bearing elk instead of fish and small mammals. "No, I'm from a very different kind of place." His accent was different than hers, something more foreign than she recalled in the wolves of Teekon. Then again, she didn't spend much time here. "Where are you from?" RE: Ku'uipo - Mawk - February 21, 2019 His brows perked curiously as she began to giggle, the light, luxurious sound wisping around his ears like playful spirits and causing him to squint humerously in the golden girl's direction. When Noelani mirrored the question back to himself, Mawk hesitated, carefully attempting to piece together the pieces of his past that had fallen during his travels - truthfully, he doubted he'd be able to recognise the trail back to his homeland (with a jolt, he recounted the memories of his travelling-sister, Skylaris, but pushed them away). "Far away from here, further north, if I remember correctly." Which he probably didn't, but the willowy figure before him wasn't required to know that. "What... brought you to the Teekon?" he enquired, intruiged - there was nothing truly whimsical about the stretches of land building this place, but perhaps she'd simply fancied a change of scenery, or was looking for somewhere to settle, or maybe she was a even scout like himself. |
