cake boss - Maera - July 13, 2014

for @Jökull :) hope your up for a sis thread

Each day in the Sveijarn's life was more exciting than the one before, and in every one of them red-kissed daughter always found something new to channel her attention to --even if it was for a just a few seconds.

First she had been utterly obsessed with her tail, she found its wiggling fascinating until her short attention span made her mind shift elsewhere; it was then that she had discovered the wonders of chewing. At three weeks of their birth the pups had begun to develop milk teeth and Maera was overly excited when it came to using them. She didn't care about the dangers that came with her new weapons, she used them on her siblings and stray sticks on the den's floor without remorse.

Today she was impressed by something a little less harmful. A pile of dirt sat in front of the babe, whispering tentatively for her to press her paws in the filth. Ultimately Maera gave in, she lunged forward sinking not only her paws but her muzzle into the dirt. She continued to do this for a couple of minutes flinging the wet soil with her nose and then piling it together again. She'd make the greatest dessert mommy had ever seen.

RE: cake boss - Jökull - July 13, 2014

Jökull was fascinated by the sharp things sprouting from her gums. Confessedly, all of them were, but Jökull has seen firsthand the demolition these little daggers wrought. Her soiree with Leaf had proved to be...most interesting. She learned what she was that day. Okay, so she knew she was a wolf all along, but not what they do. Safe to say, she knows what they do now; how they live, how they thrive. Jökull would come to embrace her ancestry. In time.

As for the present, she was content sleeping, eating, drinking and...I guess one could say pillaging. Poor Lárus received the brunt of her ransacking. Valtýr did as well, but he was not afraid to raise his own teeth on her cruel sister. And Maera? Well, she rarely went above and beyond as she did with Lárus when it came to her ruddy sibling. If she ever bared her teeth to her sister, Maera replied with a certain carefreeness that subdued the dominant Jökull. Lárus and Valtýr could learn a thing or two from Maera. To be spared of Jökull's teeth? Who wouldn't want that? Hell, not even mommy or daddy was relieved!

As with all things, when a rustling sound could be heard, Jökull was there to investigate. Or she would have been were it not for the tussling earlier today. Opening one eye, she looked at her devil-may-care relative attacking what appeared to be...was that a pile of dirt? Stretching and yawning, Jökull rose to her feet and waddled over to Maera. Stopping, she watched her sis try her paw at culinary art. What she saw did not look much like a cake. Just a mound. A very tempting mound. Without so much as a second thought, Jökull jumped. She must topple that dirt-cake. She simply must.

RE: cake boss - Maera - July 16, 2014

Soon the aspiring little baker was completely covered with mud, to the point it was hard to tell if she was still playing chef or had ditched the game to get a cleansing facial. Deep in the back of her mind she knew her dirty behavior would get her nothing more than a frown from mommy and a dreadful bath, still she kept kneading the worm filled dough with her paws until every little space between her fingers was covered in filth. And let me tell you, her cake was beginning to take a nice sphere-like shape when Jökull came along and destroyed Maera's culinary dreams.

Out of her three siblings, it was Jökull who held the top position on the red girl's heart. That was because Valtýr never seemed to want to play with her, and Lárus was seen more like a personal pillow than a potential accomplice, while Jökull was the perfect candidate to accompany in her adventures --of course if you learned to overlook the fact that she was the quartet's instigator and little miss bossy pants it could be fun to hang with the older Sveijarn.

However today was not the case.
As her oldest sister and closest friend threatened to squash her work of art a new and strange sensation appeared in the fire-kissed girl's body. Inside her belly the stomach acids had found a new way of making her feel utterly sick, something other than digestive juices broiled inside her: anger. An emotion she had only felt once or twice when Tuwawi refused to give her a second serving of retched meat or when Njal stopped her from chewing off Lárus' little ears with her newly discovered teeth.
She had felt anger but never like this.

The always laid back baby furrowed her brow and gave a loud stomp to show her complete disapproval at her sister's behavior, and with her tail lashing furiously allowed a booming, "NOOO!" to rupture the space between them. Then she curled her upper lip back as she had seen other angry wolves do so, and blew hot air out of her nostrils. All she wanted now was for Jökull to apologize for trying to ruin the cake Maera was making for mommy and sit quietly, if she did maybe, just maybe, she'd get a piece for good conduct.

RE: cake boss - Jökull - July 17, 2014

Rather than demolishing the cake completely, Jökull toppled over but a sizable chunk. Delight raced through her like lightning. However, it was short lived. Maera screamed, rage unmistakable in every letter of her lament. Going stock still, Jökull ceased her ruinous rampage to look at her sister. Maera released a brutish exhalation accompanied by a curl of the lip; one lone tooth visible for all the world to see. Uh oh.

Maera was not a creature of aggression or plenteous ascendency. Actually, she could remember but one other time where Maera was as incensed as she is presently. The Tuwawi incarnate displayed nothing besides burning hatred, so Jökull knew she has royally messed up. Self-reproach sneaked up and bit her in the bum, stricken at having hurt her sister so. So instead of straight-out challenging her female sibling, Jökull lowered her head and backed away from Maera's terrene confection. Dearest sister would receive no spoken apology, but her regret was sent purely through Jökull's actions.

RE: cake boss - Maera - July 18, 2014

Jökull was not the only one surprised by the young Sveijarn girl's reaction; Maera herself was astonished by her sudden fit of fury. But it was Jökull's reluctance to back away what was more surprising than all. The second after her explosion, she had expected her ash coloured sister to snap back at her and give a couple of warning bites and maybe a couple of punches for good measure--never had she thought she'd win (if you could say that was a win) a squabble against her sister.

All the growling and frowning had left the red girl exhausted. She stood protectively over the remaining pieces of her crumbled cake, her sides heaving as she recovered her breath. Silence had settled between them once again, and for any bystander the scene was probably nothing but bizarre. A mud covered monster hovering over a simple mound of dirt, covered with filthy soil from her head to her toes while staring down another baby who slunk away shyly from the dirty creature.

The whole event brought Maera newfound confidence, it wasn't everyday one got to boss over your own boss. While she might have liked to waddle over to Jökull and smear a kiss on her cheek, something deep inside her heart told her not to waste the little piece of authority she had stolen from her sister.

With great care and delicacy, she began to re-strengthen the edges of her cake and only once she was completely satisfied with the look of it, she flicked her tail to summon Jökull's attention. A last warning glare was shared between the sibling, until finally with a bit of hesitation the smaller sister stepped away from the cake and closer to Jökull.

"Juu?"She cooed while bumping her nose to her sister's lowered head. They could play now, while the cake was in the oven.

RE: cake boss - Jökull - July 24, 2014

She expressed regret and submission because she valued her sister's favor. Namely because Jökull was none too keen on being an overpowered outcast of the bunch. The biggest Sveijarn thrived on the connection they shared, even as it continued to bloom outside the womb. Really, Jökull felt she would be nothing were it not for her family. She did not want to blemish or – God forbid – sever this dependence of frost and flame. Maybe she was just...over analyzing things. After all, Maera's creation was an inedible dirt cake.

As the flame inspected her piece, Jökull sat haphazardly and waited. Maera sought to repair the damage the tyrannical Jökull wrought. While her own interests lied in activities outside of Maera's artistic (and adroit) cookery, she could not help but watch the cake become whole once more. There. All better. Maybe a little lopsided, but it was no less tantalizing...Jökull wanted to tackle it into nonexistence like before, but she knew that would upset sis.

Summoned, Jökull rose to her feet and waddled over to Maera. Dry dust caked her bum, but it did not bother her. What did bother her, however, was Maera's warning glare. Internalizing her upset, she gazed upon Maera's creation in all its delicious glory. Mommy will definitely eat this! By looks alone, it was appetizing...

Drawn into Maera's prod, Jökull faced her sister more fully and barked. Now was the time for play! Trying to nip Maera (anywhere would do), the gunmetal Sveijarn jerked away just as quickly, screaming, “Yous it!

RE: cake boss - Maera - July 26, 2014

While Maera's patience had run dry, the love she felt for her sister overflowed from her heart. Flooding her entire being with a feeling of enchantment and admiration for her older sister. She was bossy at times, yes, but she was her frosty hero and Maera her fiery side-kick. While she tapped her sister in the head she couldn't resist planting a wet kiss on her crown. It was not common for the smaller girl to show affection in forms of kisses to her siblings, but Jökull deserved it.

She didn't see that her short lived role as boss had upset her silver sister. She was now to busy watching her sister carefully waiting for her to decide what game they would play, her little tail wagged wildly as she returned her sister's happy yap. Even if she had been looking at her closely her nip caught her off guard. She pulled her front leg away, ow, and followed the fleeing Jökull with her eyes. Maera lips pursed as she took off after Jo, she didn't like the feeling of being it.

"JUU!" she called after her, even if she knew that her sister would not stop. She'd have to catch her, but her little legs couldn't seem to be able to catch up with her. "om 'ere", she barked as she tried to speed up.

RE: cake boss - Jökull - August 05, 2014

Maera's protests egged Jökull on, limbs flailing this way and that in an attempt to run. Picturing herself to be an imperial, historied huntress on the chase, Jökull looked more like a half-witted fawn discovering she has legs. Wishing to see her sister in motion, she craned her head just so to take a peek at the galloping Maera. To her horror, Maera was nearly upon her already, and they have not even reached the mouth of the den yet! What witchery is this?! Being the biggest afforded her many luxuries, but speed was not one of them. Jökull did not want to lose at a game she herself initiated, so she pushed herself harder and faster than ever before. Eat my dust!

RE: cake boss - Maera - August 05, 2014

Maera pressed on, moving her stubby legs with all her might. Still her furious gallop wasn't enough to catch her sister. She was about to give up,until she saw her sis's face turn to her. That simple gesture was enought to boost the lazy flame and push her to continue in her persuit.

Happy yaps erupted from her throat as she realized that the distance between her sister's bum had been reduced. She was cathcing up! It was incredible that the pup who had once been fearful to take a single step was now up and running like that.

It was closer now.
She snapped her maw blindly, hoping to get her tiny daggers in her sister's bum though she was lucky her teeth didn't reach their target. Still she didn't resign. She lunged forward with a last effort of her hind legs, letting out a screeching battle cry while in mid-air, "JUUU-UUU"

RE: cake boss - Jökull - August 25, 2014

Puppy feet pounded against the earth, sending dust this way and that. Mommy would have to give them a bath after this, but Jökull was more concerned about her sister riding her heels. “EEEEE!” screamed she, pink paw pads brushing against the fur on Maera's chest. She was close now, nearly upon her. Adrenaline kicked in just as Maera pounced, releasing what was probably a triumphant roar. “AHHH!” Near hysterical with elation, Jökull tried to bound out of Maera's grasp, but it was too late.

Nnnnnnnnooooo...” A defeated groan slipped past her open mouth, twisting her head to look at sis. It was uncomfortable, but not impossible. Taking in the short-winded display of her capturer, she noticed that Maera had managed to wrap her front limbs around her hips, pinning her hind end to the ground. However, the other half of her body was unrestrained...Wiggling her butt, she tried to slip free of Maera's grasp. If she did not let go, she was in for a wild ride.

RE: cake boss - Maera - August 25, 2014

The sisters' hot persuit was coming to an end as Maera pounced on the older sibling, she managed to awkwardly wrap her front legs arund her sister's waist, bringing her down momentarily. While Maera might've thought that'd be the end of it, Jokull was not ready to give in.

Her unfortunate crash and burn was not enough to discourage her from fleeing, and though it was technically Maera's turn to run, the ashen babe continued to buck and kick like a wild bull trying to rid herself of the parasite that Maera had become.

The fiery baby clinged to her sister and nibbled her back as Jokull tried to wriggle herslef free. However her legs began to loose their grip on her sister's hips and slowly she felt her sis slip away like water between her fingers. She squealed in frustration when Jokull broke free and pouted as she watched how she tauntingly walked away.

Maera narrowed her eyes and stared at the little Houdini stand triumphantly in front of her. An exaggerated sigh left her mouth until she remembered that according to th game's regulations she was now the chasee instead of the chaser."Get me!", she screamed happily while pulling herself from her paws and taking off in the opposite direction, where her cake still laid cooling off after being taken from the oven

RE: cake boss - Jökull - August 31, 2014

A few brief seconds slipped on by where Jökull openly gloated. She had escaped her sister's grasp. That along was worthy of celebration. Maera's squeal of frustration only enlivened Jökull's triumphant revelry. The larger Sveijarn's face was twisted into a wide grin. She had lost but had also won. What are the odds!

Jökull could be pigheaded when it came to taking turns. She was greedy when having fun, but she would chase Maera because...well, Maera was her best friend and her favored sibling. It was only because of the love she had for this flame cloaked girl that Jökull would go out of her way to make exceptions. The closeness they shared – would it last a life time? Such heavy pondering was too much for the north blood. Now was not the place nor the time.

Once Maera spun around, Jökull was on her heels...Well, not literally. She was kinda breathless having escaped Maera's grasp; she did not have enough time to really take a breather. Despite knowing this, Jökull was not about to leave her relative unattended. With gaping jowls and flapping gums, Jökull galloped after Maera in attempts to pin her.

For all her haughty ministrations, Jökull did not have as much energy as a full grown wolf. Yes, she chased Maera around the den, but she noticed how her sister kept slipping farther and farther away. It was not long before Jökull gave up. Plopping down onto the dusty earth, Jökull closed her eyes and took a deep breath...and quickly fell asleep.
