when all is said and done - Constantine - March 09, 2019

The shadowrunner stalked the length of the winding creek, the moon hanging high in the sky. Spring was just around the corner--soon, the snow would melt fully, and the lands would blossom. He had lost track to how many moons they had laud claim to these lands, but even worse, the Mayfair had lost track of those who had come and gone. Each day felt like the cusp of survival from some emotional turmoil, and the swarthy wolf could openly admit he was exhausted. The fire of his eyes distinguished with each passing day, and as he wove forward, the male felt a surge of what was to be expected come over him. Tipping his muzzle up, he sought out the scent of @Kavik, his stocky form lingering a respectful distance from the den of Alessia, knowing the dame had just recently birthed the Alpha's litter.

It was time to talk.

RE: when all is said and done - RIP Kavik - March 13, 2019

He hadn't left the den much other than to hunt or patrol, his drive to keep everyone safe riding him hard since the birth of his children. It had not been an easy delivery for Alessia, and so the alpha had also been overly-concerned about her in the days following the birth of their pups. The evening had been quiet and fairly uneventful, and Kavik had posted himself near the den entrance, sufficiently able to keep its inhabitants in and any intruders out. He was stretched out on his side listening to the slow, soft breathing of his sleeping mate, the occasional squeak from one of the pups breaking the comfortable silence. The wind howled softly outside as his eyes drifted shut; he wasn't really asleep, but he was basking in the unexpected peace of the moment. But his eyes flicked open as he heard the rustling of someone outside close enough to the den that he had been alerted. Quickly rising to his feet, he exited the den and sniffed the breeze as it blew past his face. Constantine. He wondered what would bring him here so soon after Alessia had given birth and hoped something wasn't troubling the other alpha. He saw the dark man in the distance and trotted towards him, releasing a chuff as he stopped in front of him. Kavik dipped his head. Constantine, he greeted. What brings you out here? he asked next, eyebrows drawn together in concerned curiosity.

Kavik emerged—an impressive sight, and with the greeting offered, the Mayfair took solace in the co-lead he had happened upon in the mountains. Perhaps it had been fate—he was certain his sisters would have told him that some divine entity had a purpose and plan for them all, but mostly, the regal could only believe it had been the right place and the right time… and his ability to finally let go of the reins that shouldn’t be within his grasp any longer.

“Kavik,” he greeted, his own tone warm as he dipped his muzzle in turn. His tail swayed as he gave a thoughtful study of his companion, considering how to word the news he was about to unleash upon the other. “How are you, and Alessia? How are the little ones?”

We are all doing okay, Kavik answered first. The birth was difficult, but everyone seems to be gaining strength, he finished. The pups were weak and sickly, but they didn't seem to be getting any worse, which he thought was promising. Now only time would tell if they would grow stronger as they got older. And you? he asked after a few seconds. How have you been? He hadn't had much time to talk recently with everything going on, and he was curious how the other creek leader had been getting along, especially with all the new pack members and drama. He wondered if he would be having children this spring as well but kept the question to himself for now. His ears flicked back towards the den, checking that nothing sounded out of place as he waited for Constantine to respond.
