this is the one song - Quellcrist - March 14, 2019 for parents or siblings or anyone who'd realistically be allowed in the birthing den!
quellcrist's second day of living outside the womb was well ...like any other day, really. her world was still dark and quiet. she could feel the vibrations of her mother — deeper than the smaller vibrations of the other squirming puptatos. she recognizes them as like her because despite that she can't hear herself she can feel the vibrations of her throat as she makes noises. sometimes, quellcrist makes noises not because she wants something but because she's curios about the new things in this new world. as awful as some of those high-pitched wails might be to her poor parents and packmates who were unfortunate enough to be in the general vicinity. this afternoon she'd woken up from a nap — she'd fallen asleep napping and drooled on herself and probably elixir — and smacks her lips together. her belly is still full and it won't be long before she's snoozing again but she intends to make the most of this time spent awake in the dark world. it didn't take quellcrist long to realize that the more vibrations she made that she got things like baths ( she really liked those! ) and alas, she sucks in a mighty breath and lets out a series of chirps that threatened to teeter into a banshee wail if she wasn't given attention in what she felt was a timely manner. RE: this is the one song - Elixir - March 14, 2019 The birth was just the beginning and it was over now but there was no rest for the wicked... almost literally. For the most part all of the pups were okay. Elixir hadn’t slept a wink through the night as she watched the suckling of the babies and then their little tummy’s rise and fall Justin in case something was too happen. I guess one could say she was a worrisome mother for now. Now it was the second day of having the litter and she was a hair less uptight. The pups were doing their own thing suckling and what not, Elixir was trying to take a moment to clear her head and that’s when she heard the first few little mumbles from Quellcrist’s mouth. Elixir hoped that if she didn’t make eye contact (even though she couldn’t see anyway) the little one would fall asleep and not make a noise. A moment to herself would be much needed but the wolfdog breathed slower for a feeble minutes testing the waters to see what Quellcrist’s next move was. RE: this is the one song - Quellcrist - March 15, 2019 the whole 'don't make eye contact' part just tickles me every time i read it. bahaha. poor elixir. i'm sorry you birthed a little sea monster. ♥
her chirps cease and her head lifts but too heavy for her neck to actually support it yet it lowers. what? her chirps did not bring with it the attention she wanted. the siren is baffled by this because she is warm, nestled against some other puptato and against the one she would come to know as mother. she even pokes her nose unceremoniously and lacking gentleness into elixir's side just to make sure she was, indeed, still there and hadn't done a clever parent trap move on them. either way they should know she wanted a bath, right? right! quellcrist doesn't comprehend the passage of time but she waits, albeit not for very long and still no bath comes. e x c u s e me? a last warning noise leaves her — a sharp punctuating chirp. a last chance to give her what she wanted before she let the entire of stormrift know she wasn't happy. RE: this is the one song - Cortland - March 15, 2019 cameo unless he's called back in ❤
sentinel hasn't found much sleep, either; he's been hyper-vigilant since the birth of his children, spending his time lingering within or just outside of elixir's den. just now, though, he's returning from the first "break" he's taken — with a freshly-killed hare for elixir. he hesitates only a beat before he steps into the den, tail swishing slightly as his gaze lands first on the pups. his heart jumps a little at quellcrist's sharp noise, though he isn't quite sure what it means (no baths from dad anyway, sorry kid). he drops the hare near elixir, nosing her cheek gently before he returns to his self-appointed post outside the den. though part of him wants to stay, he can't shake the fear that he'll make a mistake or hurt one of the pups somehow — and it just doesn't seem worth the risk.
RE: this is the one song - Elixir - March 28, 2019 Elixir huffed after Quellcrist has made it a point that she wanted something and wouldn’t take a no for an answer. Sentinel walked in smoothly and set food down and she was ever so grateful, as he nosed her cheek she embraced it softly. The contact was much needed, she was lucky to have Sentinel to help her out or she wouldn’t have gotten any nutrients today. She looked up as he left with thankful eyes and then started to turn her attention back to Quellcrist. “Come here sweetie” she said in a baby voice. The wolfdog picked her baby up in her mouth by the scruff and slowly laid her in front of her. Elixirs tongue rolled out to touch the soft fur of Quellcrist, ever so carefully she continued to clean the darkened baby. Hopefully it would be what she wanted, then when she would fall asleep Elixir planned to move her back to her side so maybe just Maybe some peace Andy quiet would Be upheld in the den. |
