holding your vast power - Ailill - March 15, 2019

want a free fish ( or two )?? you've come to the right place! i'm going to use this towards ailill's hunter trade! c:

with spring right around the corner the snow and ice has begun to melt as the world around warms. the air is still chilly but there is a fog that ailill is beginning to think may be permanent that has settled eerily over the wilds for the past how-many days. maybe the teekon wilds had a fog season in lieu of spring. there a tremor of excitement laced with anticipation along the blackthorn's spine as he makes his way towards the bank of the creek. soon the bass will begin to spawn and the river will turn black with their writhing bodies. there are plenty of them here now, gorging themselves on food in preparation of their spawning season when they will fast.

ailill's gaze follows one, utterly ignorant of his looming presence, as it swims nearer. his muscles tense and he pounces on it, trapping it's strong, writhing body beneath the weight of his paws, cold water splashing around him graciously as the beast and his would-be dinner grapple.

RE: holding your vast power - Lilah Silverback - March 16, 2019

It was a beautiful day, warm with an slightly cooler breeze to make it perfect weather. Lilah had been out roaming all day and had just decided to make her way toward the creek when she caught the scent of a stranger. It was a man and she felt a thrill of excitement, wondering if he had come to join them. That would mean another man that could possibly be her husband, another chance at a family. She changed her posture until she was gracefully walking forward, her tail hanging loosely in a relaxed fashion though her eyes were alight with excitement....

Until she got there and saw he was just fishing. A silent sigh left her lungs and she hung back, considering turning around to leave. Then her curiosity won out and she slowly crept forward "You are really good at that" she said in her usual soft spoken voice, eyes moving from him to the dead fish and then back again.

at first, the sound of approaching footfalls was lost to the blackthorn as he wrestled with the bass. it put up a valiant fight — managing to whack ailill in the muzzle with it's tail a few times — but in the end the beast won the match and plucks his limp prize from the water swirling with fresh blood. his or the fish's he isn't sure. it's easy to forget that unlike other fish that bass have teeth and are not afraid to use them in self-defense. it's only as he turns and begins to waddle out of the water and notices, for the first time with a start, that he isn't alone.

the woman is small and willowy, an agouti mixture of light grey, blonde cream and white. her eyes momentarily draw and hold his own gaze — he can't recall ever meeting someone with eyes a shade of purple before. he tosses the fish unceremoniously onto the bank with a small thud where in it's death it convulses and twitches, his attention drawn back to her at her compliment. his left ear draws back as he lets her words sink in. in truth, ailill much preferred bigger prey but he'd learned quickly after departing his natal pack that beggars did not have the luxury of being choosers. thanks, he says without much modesty. you can have it if you want. i was going to catch another one anyway. he indicates back to the water with a look and a small, sharp gesture of his muzzle.

He jumped at her presence and she lifts a paw, blinking once in surprise as he stares at her. She wasn't sure exactly what he was looking at but she broke the eye contact by dropping her gaze and lowering her fluffy hindquarters to the ground. She lifted them again at the sound of another fish hitting the ground and she watched it twitch and flop before dying, it's mouth opening and closing  a few times in silent gasps for air. Pity...it was weird but she felt bad for the thing, drowning in the air like she could drown in water. Her ears perk as he speaks and she turns her attention to him as he says she could take one eyes going wide with surprise. He was a gentleman to offer her one of his fish and she politely nodded, she would take one before heading away further into the territory.  "Thank you. I'm  Lilah" she said in a friendly tone, figuring  introduction was necessary now that he had given her a meal.

Watching him fish was interesting. Seeing how he waited so patiently and then with incredible speed just snatched one from the icy depths of the creek was impressive. She wanted to try it for herself. Slowly she walked to a spot a respectful distance from his and stared into the water, catching glimpses of silver flashes. Her ears perked and with too much gusto she lunged, her balance going and causing her to nearly fall face first into the water. Luckily she corrected her stance so that her forelegs hit the water and caught her on the bottom before she fell. Her ears went back and she slowly pushed herself back out, licking the excess freezing water from her legs and avoiding looking his way.

ailill watches casually over his shoulder as she nods at his offer. he's relieved. in truth, he wasn't sure what he was going to do with more than one fish. it didn't strike him as practical to have a bunch of food lying around as a lone wolf — it would be too much temptation for other, more unsavory predators; and he wasn't looking to get into a fight over a fucking fish. not to mention, it was going to be a pain in the ass to haul around and find hiding spots for it. don't mention it, he shrugs in idle acceptance of her thank you. ailill blackthorn.

he watches idly as she wads into the water a few feet from his place. he knows it's rude to watch and he tries to curb his curiosity on whether she'd succeed or not — catching fish was harder than it looked — but ultimately he ends up watching her out of the corner of his eye not really paying attention to what he was doing. she makes an impressive lunge but ends up falling in the water. ailill tries not to laugh. he makes a painful effort that shows in the stifle of laughter that ends up being a small snort instead. it's harder than it look; and maybe it's a bit cliche but fish really are slippery bastards.

She had prayed he hadn't heard her but she wasn't surprised when she heard the small snort of laughter coming from his direction. She snuck a glance at him while getting the last bit of water off her legs and saw him struggling to not laugh more. She would have been offended if it wasn't for his kind words, soothing her embarrasment. Her lips slowly curled upwards and she laughed softly at herself sitting up straight "It'll take a while to learn, I can see that now. You're pack must be proud to have such a fine hunter" she said and then flicked an ear realising she hadn't asked if he had a home. "I'm sorry for assuming. Do you have a pack?" she asked. If he didn't she would absolutely attempt to snag him for Rosings. They needed more men around here, for her and for the other women who may end up unwed.
