plus, he didn't even lick any of our eyeballs - Aengus - March 15, 2019

life was definitely a lot harder since his eviction. he thought about trying to appeal to some higher order so that he could get his sweet digs back, but he was hoping there was a way to do it without having his siblings go back in there with him. he could hardly imagine how much room would be available without stinky and the twins hogging all the space. sure, there were a couple of renovations that could be done in-utero, but that was something he'd have to think about once he got back.

there wasn't a lot to do in the outside world. mostly, aengus just mulled about on his little nubbin arms. he would eat frequently and sleep even more frequently, but there were definitely long bouts of boredom that he could not fill with anything substantial. try as he might, the dark boy wasn't capable of occupying his free time with anything constructive. so, he did what he could to scramble over sionnach with a few puppy grunts.

It was weird having baby siblings. Breccan could hardly imagine that he and his sisters had ever been that tiny; it just wasn't possible! He was fascinated by them, and thus he spent a lot of time just watching them. Presently, he was sprawled just outside the mouth of the den, his face pointed inward and his chin resting on his paws. His orange eyes watched the little furry blobs intently, even though they hadn't been up to much yet.

His ears pricked, though, as he watched one potato start to clamber over the other with his stubby little limbs. He was pretty sure that one was Aengus, and the mountain it was climbing was Sionnach. "Good job," the big brother said, taking his gaze briefly off his siblings in order to smile up at his ever-watchful mother.

the boy was pretty oblivious to the fact that he not only had his three annoying littermates, but there was an entirely different litter out there that had been born roughly a year before and had already gone through the process of being weaned and grown into adults. it was hard enough to share the space with his lumpy sister. this was his primary goal for climbing her like a mountain. he wanted to show that he could literally be on top – no issue.

when breccan issued a, ‘good job,’ aengus squeaked immediately after. you’re damn right it was a good job, big bro. aengus was not about to mess around with first impressions. he wanted the world to know just how competent he was. having a headstrong approach was just one of his many strengths.

After receiving both an encouraging smile from Liffey and a brave little peep from Aengus, Breccan took his cue to move closer. He shuffled forward on his belly until he was only a few inches from Aengus and Sionnach. So far, the pup on the bottom of the pile hadn't given much protest to her brother's conquest, but Breccan didn't want him to squash her. Since he was bigger, he would provide a more challenging mountain for Aengus to climb without risk of suffocation; now he just had to get Aengus to notice him in his blind state.

"C'mere," he urged, whether or not the little boy could hear him, and he reached out to nudge him with a forepaw and draw his attention.

no, breccan, aengus could not hear the request to come hither. still, the boy was curious enough by this faint new scent that he tumbled from mount lump and landed with a soft oof on the den floor. then, he squeaked a quiet and pitiful little sound from the back of his throat before scuttling forward on weak ass nubbin limbs. the nudge was helpful, because it gave the dark brown boy a means of finding out where this stranger was located.

with a determined wiggle, aengus inched toward breccan on eager little arms and legs. his milky blue eyes seemed to search for something, but he couldn't have seen a damn thing in that den if his life depended on it. he moved solely based on the touch that had been granted, and he did surprisingly well for all of his limited capability.

As Aengus plopped unceremoniously onto the floor, Breccan winced and glanced at Liffey, afraid that she would disapprove of what he was doing. He wasn’t really sure how fragile his little siblings were. She seemed fine with it, though, and he understood that Aengus’ little body was tougher than it looked.

During this brief transaction between Breccan and his mother, Aengus had begun to wriggle toward him. His short legs didn’t carry him very far or very fast, but he had covered a few inches of ground when Breccan looked back at him. Nice work, buddy! Breccan praised, then lowered his chin to his paws so he was almost nose to nose with his brother. He exhaled, blowing a warm puff of air in Aengus’ face.

yeah, aengus might have been a small ball of lard, but he was a pretty tough small ball of lard. he could take a tumble or two without really being phased by it. there was a high chance that he was missing a few of the brain cells that helped him to avoid being hurt all the time. he really didn't need those, right? he would do just fine on his own. the world of was his oyster and he was ready to take what he could from it.

the praise fell on his deaf ears, but it was the hot breath of air that really tickled his fancy. the small bull lifted his wobbly head upward and squealed in delight at the feeling. had his parents really blown in his face before? most likely not. his mother had been hawkish in his short lifetime. it seemed that she was always peering over his shoulder with those judgmental eyes of hers... he wouldn't get to know the real mom stare-down until he was much older and far more capable of causing real trouble.

hoping to illicit the same feeling, aengus poked his nose around in front of him and let out a series of soft whines. surely, his cute ass noises would cause the air to come back, right?

After breathing out in Aengus' direction, Breccan paused and waited for a reaction. The little seemed to think about it for a moment, as his stubby little nose moved in the now-still air, and then he whimpered. Breccan took this to mean he was asking for more, so he was happy to oblige.

This time, he blew a few short exhalations toward Aengus' face in rapid succession, orange eyes watching for his brother's reaction.

breccan was a good brother; very in-tune with all the things that little aengus was asking for in his puppy pleading. the older boy breathed quickly in several puffs to the child’s face. the sturdy little bull pulled his head back and seemed to laugh in childish delight. he stretched his stubby limbs outward, hoping to feel around for what might have been causing this fun new game. it was too bad that he was blinder than a bat in his youthful stage, but that did little to temper the curiosity that bubbled up inside of him. he sought the button that would continue the game of air-blowing, and so he inched forward a little further and began to poke his nose around where breccan was.

As Aengus giggled, Breccan laughed too. He watched as his little brother flailed about, expressing his pleasure clearly without the use of words. His paws stretched out towards Breccan and then he began to wiggle forward, blindly searching the space in front of him with his nose.

Breccan lowered his chin to his paws to make his face more accessible to Aengus. "Right here," he said, not intending for the pup to hear him, obviously, but rather for the breath accompanying those words to brush against his cheeks. He then edged his head just the slightest bit towards his sibling and effectively booped Aengus' snoot with his own.

aengus would have been fortunate if he was able to learn some manners from his big brother. breccan was gentle and attentive enough that it had managed to keep the young puppy completely enthralled. the little bull did not want for anything more than what he was getting in that moment. with he feeling of breath on his face again, the roly poly puppy cooed with joy and then squeaked loudly at the feeling of breccan’s nose against his own. aengus stretched his front legs out as far as they would go, hoping that he could at least touch his sibling with his toes to know that he was on the right track. after all, he was only blindly wandering around the den. sure, the breathing was helpful enough… but he needed a little bit more. it was time for some quality aengus snuggles.

RE: plus, he didn't even lick any of our eyeballs - Breccan - May 28, 2019

Aengus continued to express his pleasure with miniature wolf-sounds, and even reached out with his front paws towards Breccan's face. "Yep, you got it," the older brother said, carefully sliding his chin off of his paws and between them on the ground so that Aengus could wriggle right on up to his cheek if he so desired. Although there wasn't a whole lot he or his littermates could really do at this age, Breccan was still impressed by this one's determination and inquisitive nature.

would love another with you now that gus is a little older <33

oh yeah, breccan was the man. what a solid older brother. what a stand up guy. aengus approved, even though he was so young that it didn’t really matter much what was swimming around in the two braincells he had in his noggin. all that mattered was that the baby bull was getting some quality sibling time with the best guy in town.

he followed the path that had been set for him, right up to breccan’s cheek. once there, aengus breathed a soft sigh which seemed to transition well into a big yawn. he pressed his dark nose into his brother’s cheek and breathed as deeply as he could without snorting up some fur. instant lights out. the boy faded into sleep with a content little smile on his dark muzzle.

Yes plz! <3

Predictably, Aengus wasn't long for this world -- almost as soon as he nestled up next to Breccan's cheek, he huffed a contented-sounding sigh and fell asleep. Breccan smiled, feeling the gentle weight of his brother's bulk against the side of his face with the movement, but otherwise remained still so that Aengus could nap undisturbed. After a few minutes, his own eyes drifted closed and he took a short rest, too.
