syakki kamuy - Amekaze - April 10, 2019 Matters had escalated, they still were escalating even. She was just the same, now far more irritated than before, but Charon had taken leave of the mountain after she had not catered instantly to all of his concerns, so Ame stayed on patrol just to see what he might try to do. Patience on the matter had been long lost, apparently, and she had half a nerve to keep him there, away from their family if he was going to misunderstand her so badly as that. She rounded off one of those said patrols late afternoon, and started climbing the elevations on the prowl. Hunger was starting to trail after her, and she was after something good, something fresh--and something to really rip her teeth into. With greenery starting to flourish and return generously to the mountainside, she trusted she could rally up prey that could fit those needs. Thinking about where her damned offspring might be, she willed them into helping her as she started to pick up a vague scent of a wandering deer. She'd need more noses, or better odds. RE: syakki kamuy - Revui (Ghost) - April 11, 2019 There was much still to do if he was going to please his father; things to learn, people to talk to (shudder), and places to be. There was only so much that he could get done in one day, so the boy returned to the mountain's higher reaches, noticing a chill in the air. It wasn't all that he noticed — his father's scent had lost some of its strength, which could only mean that Charon had left the mountain-home for some reason. Revui was not concerned. He was unaffected by the turmoil between his parents (truthfully because he was oblivious to it), and did not presume to know his father's mind. He trusted things were alright, for they often were calm upon the mountain. As Revui climbed he took notice of another dominant scent — that of his mother, which seemed to dominate beyond what Revui was accustomed to. She was roaming among the trees when he found her; his own advance was not subtle, but upon noticing the seriousness of her posture and the interest she was showing to the animal paths, Revui soon adjusted so that he was flanking her - silent and empathetic to whatever she was attempting. A part of him wished to impress the woman; whatever she was chasing, he would eagerly lend his strength. RE: syakki kamuy - Amekaze - April 15, 2019 In keeping her options open and perceptions spread mightily around these familiar turns, she drew back her head when she realized Revui's presence filtering in alongside her own, with sight of the rest of his sterling self seen just after. Truth be told, she was still getting used to his return, but it came naturally enough to her only a few seconds into her realization. She still did need to remind herself how big he was, and while much the same as his siblings, there would always be a certain something distinct about him that she did not know how to pinpoint exactly, but to her, this was why her blood mattered and why her offspring were always first in her heart. She couldn't fathom such a bond with those who were not her too, no matter how intrinsic, unspoken, and difficult to see it might be. His company would very likely help her, however, and she could get to know this now-older, more scarred son a bit better now that she actually knew where he was.. generally speaking, on most days. Still, she rumbled fondly for him and kept her sights on ahead, silently approving of him being the first responder today; she badly wanted a distraction and subtly, looking forward to this possibility, her strides began to edge up into something faster. The trails underfoot still rang as good enough for her needs and bolstered by him here too, it was better than flying solo by leaps and bounds. Hungry?she asked over her shoulder to feel it out, though did not need any verbal, tangible response if he did not see it fit. She liked to think he would know, just as she might too, to some degree. RE: syakki kamuy - Revui (Ghost) - April 22, 2019 He thought that he could smell @Hydra among the trees, but it was just as likely that his sisters were both roaming elsewhere — although there was a strength to Hydra's scent that could not be ignored, and caused him to slow his pace just slightly, when Amekaze took notice of him and called out. The singular word made him snort, finding an odd little moment of amusement there. Revui was always hungry, always wanting to sink his teeth in to flesh or taste the blood of those that came to oppose the mountain. Whether it be prey or fellow predator, he was always eager to show off his physical prowess. Perhaps in knowing this Amekaze hoped to appeal to his obvious instincts — and so he forgot about Hydra's strong scent (which might've just carried upon Amekaze's own body since they had previously been fraternizing); if his mother wanted to hunt, he would happily lend himself to it. As he closed the distance Revui rumbled a low sound of pleasure, sort-of like a crocodile calling to a potential mate, and by the time he was beside his mother the sound ceased. Charon had wanted him to be more vocal, to utilize conversation opposed to the more natural ways - his ways - and in an effort to show off his skill, Revui commented, Yes, where? Umn, goats in the high fields, or deer in the lowlands? He knew that speaking would likely spook any critters that were close to them at this moment, so he kept it short and sweet - although Revui wished he could remain silent so that they could prowl together without the use of language, as they were meant to as beasts. RE: syakki kamuy - Amekaze - April 28, 2019 His rumbles swung her ears, but that was perhaps more expected of him than the string of words to come just from her simple ask. Considering he had been gone, she still had a lot to refresh about him even if he may always be her flesh and blood. But of course his voice was just on that line between familiar and not, always a touch of a surprise with it in the first place. She knew generally enough of his proposition with his father, so could understand why.. but it didn't mean it felt quite right to her. Maybe still new, or maybe she missed trying to understand his type of savage silence's little nuances. Deer trail is fresh. I have not been.. up,she admitted, though it wasn't how she wanted it to be and she only half bit back the sigh that followed. Before Charon's pressures escalated, and Hydra's flux, it had offered its plenty and she had comfortably roved. But, she had been distant to the heights, so that small part of her felt torn and pulling towards the skies, although she knew a warmer trail to be a fresher one--and they may find more siblings near and along the way, so towards the lowlands was their best bet. Still, any potential plans or hunts or otherwise aside, she sidestepped enough to reach herself closer to him and his path to brush shoulders--briefly, before pulling away with a sweep in her stride. She rumbled low and fond as she turned away to say, in the distinct, watchful quiet of her own, that she had missed him and was relieved he had come back.. especially now, storms afoot. Ame moved towards the spotty trail she had kept, and pressed on it, though kept an ear aimed for her son. RE: syakki kamuy - Revui (Ghost) - May 03, 2019 She responded in much the same clipped manner as he had spoken, which made Revui feel a little more at-ease with his own voice; but it took a second before he registered just what she was saying, and he nodded. Deer then. That made it easier. They could scout the terrain together and single out something small - or, if more bodies came to their aid, perhaps down a healthy buck. The idea of sinking his teeth in to something was enough to spur the boy onward. He was silent as he went, though. Discarding whatever language skills he had been fostering, for they were of no use here in the moment. His mother caught up to him swiftly and so Revui slowed his gait, feeling her presence worm around him with a confident affection; no words necessary, just the way he liked it. He felt bold and brave, exalted by her attention the way any child might be enamored by their own parents, and as she pressed on across the paths he pursued her with his prideful swagger. RE: syakki kamuy - Amekaze - May 22, 2019 Her affections were so subtle, but well-earned to those able to sense them. It was satisfying on its own seeing him glean his own strength from them, too. Even with the time and distance that had once come between them, then everything else that had soon followed. After a deep nod, it was decided: deer. Good, she hummed low. But not only that, this in him alone was an opportunity she wanted to have. Knowing of the aspirations he had inevitably begun to grow, she wanted time between just the two of them. Especially now, after everything--in the middle of it all, now even, what could he do? She chuffed, warmer than before, at his prideful swagger that almost reminded her of his dad. Ame flagged her own tail playfully back too--although she always seemed to tow the line between mischief and otherwise, but it was in the growing lightness that her gait took on that suggested well enough intent on her as they trekked onward. Too content for any morale boost of sorts, she looked upon him fondly as if to gauge where exactly his place was meant to be. Your newer scars—victories?she smirked over her shoulder casually towards him before their route could have its time to progress any more towards the real, true goal of warm prey. Just wondering. Honestly she didn't care how much he answered her, or if they might strike a nerve if they were not a valiant, proud earning. She wondered that when she looked at him, which she planned to do enough of if he intended to stay and run with them, perhaps one day as someone close to their leadership, so anything could be better than nothing while she had him. RE: syakki kamuy - Revui (Ghost) - May 22, 2019 She was a creature of limited words, or at least that was how the brutish boy saw his mother. It was an aspect he appreciated within her and wished others would emulate; perhaps he emulated it some, without meaning to. Father was different—it was he who struggled without words, he who required the boy to adapt and grow with these verbal skills that felt so unfit to his more feral nature. But here with Amekaze things were different. The quiet wasn't strained, and what words were spoken were short and to-the-point, which Revui deeply appreciated. The sound of Amekaze's voice made his pride soar further as he ran. When she brought up his scars, he did not hesitate to speak up: Yes,he grunted as he followed her. A blackfeather girl, some would-be warriors. Each defeated. It was not his habit to openly boast but things were changing for Revui; he had not spoken much of his time away and was glad to have earned his mother's attention rather than derision for his brief departure. While his father and brother had toiled to find him, perhaps his mother had been safe with her belief that he could handle the world outside the claim...? It was a thought that made him feel stronger and more self-assured. RE: syakki kamuy - Amekaze - June 05, 2019 Yes, of course. She flicked the lift to her tail, proud and happy to hear it so--not that it had been hard to imagine his triumph, and this was an ego she could willingly appeal to. Victories made for their strength, and the battles leading him to it was experience not all could even boast. One look, one second in.. he was capable, she trusted, and was all too pleased to get that confirmation. Against Blackfeather, would be warriors, even? Good foundations, and likely, useful bolstering to his pride. All good, she thought--what he was meant to do and want ran prominently in his blood. It had been the intentions in the beginning to raise them strong, and seeing he continued his efforts to keep growing and experiencing even while beyond them was good; worth remembering, too. She only wanted to see him achieve that fullest potential and selfishly, she did prefer him doing it where she could appreciate seeing it unfold--and maybe guide the course just enough, since Ame was experienced enough to know to think about the long-term too. Plus, now that she faced the very real possibility that she may never bear another litter, maybe her last but not least son would always have a special nook to occupy of all of her love. Fondly she rumbled at him and picked up her pace with new vigor, off towards a trail that warmed just subtly. Maybe they would get lucky. She was in an oddly appreciative mood anyway. |
