the little sandraudigas that had been born in diaspora's fold were now ten days old; a milestone for diaspora. thorn had yet to visit them: he knew their mother to be working hard, and did not wish to disturb her. he was immensely proud of @Takiyok for presiding over them with such tenderness, and could tell from @Stigmata's gait he was overwrought with fatherly pride.
thorn thought it prudent on the tenth day to deliver takiyok a small gift: a selection of meals that he hoped would tide her over better than his last offer had. the bundle of meat consisted of a lean bass from the lake, a felled wood duck, and a mean stoat that had given thorn more than he had bargained for. included in the gristle was a doe's ear -- one of thorn's favorite chew-toys as a cub.
leaving the selection outside of the den, thorn turned back and made for the lake. he was tired from his efforts, but happy -- diaspora prosperered, and thorn supped from the lake with the contentment of a beast that worked hard but enjoyed his pursuits.
