Stars fell from the sky - Moonshadow - May 08, 2019 Aw! though keep in mind she really would only trust @Istoira and @Tundra as well as Maegi. Pups will be tagged as they are born.
It was dark and breezy in the forest and the dark female was getting restless. It seemed her little ones were vigorous lately. Keeping her up at night or waking her up in the middle of it. Moonshadow began her walk back to her den hoping the walk would smooth them enough to let her sleep. However that was not the case, a few minutes after appearing at the den, she felt the first pains of child birth in her abdomen. The young female tried to breath as she laid down. Though the pain was horrible and caused her to let out a whine. Her heavy breathing seemed to slow as she felt the pains begin to slowly subside and a pup cane into the world. She opened its encasement and began to nudge and lick the newborn until it showed signs of life. In doing so she noticed it gender. A male with various hues of brown. As the pup squealed she smiled. “@Rowan” Though her painless bliss was short lived as she felt the pain once more and another coming into the world. The den was now filled with the scents of birth as the second one came and she completed the process once more. This one was a female whom looked similar to her brother. “@Moonshine.” She felt the pains slowly creep up once more and she wondered how many more were there. She hoped not many as her body began to grow more tired and with a swift push her next pup was born. He was different from the rest. His shade was white which was complimented by the black of his muzzle and front paw. He seemed to take over her mother’s coloring. With a smile she began to name him. “@Falling Star” As soon as she thought it was over she began to get an immense pain. Something was wrong, she felt as though she was dying and from the smell of the blood she almost believed it. The dark female whimpered as she pushed and that’s when it happened another pup. She quickly began to take it out and lick the little thing trying desperately to get her to breath but nothing. Moonshadow wars slicked back and she whimpered as she nudged her small child. She was so small but otherwise perfect. Though this one simply did not make it. The she wolf let out a howl announcing her pups birth but she could not hide the pain and heartache as she did so. RE: Stars fell from the sky - Rowan - May 08, 2019 It was warm and wet. Cosy amongst his siblings. A memory he would never recall. It all happened so quickly - the coldness that hit him; the warm but rough touch that animated his body. He opened his mouth, emitting a piercing noise and thrusting his forepaws forward to find nourishment. This world would be nice and cruel to him. A world where he would learn quickly and grow to find power and cast influence amongst his peers. Rowan was pushed to his mother's belly, quickly latching on and pushing to suckle his fill. It was all he knew for now, and for some time. It was good. Soon, he'd feel the bodies of his siblings pressed against him too and be oblivious that there was one who didn't make it. RE: Stars fell from the sky - Istoira - May 08, 2019 hope she's not overstepping any bounds but if she has feel free to have Moonshadow react aggressively
The firewood hovered ever near as the black pearl's time loomed upon the horizons of the tangled Wood. The sun had barely risen to cast the femme, frame heavy with children, into dark profile against the shaded forest as Istoira's fiery gaze lighted upon her from a reclined position in the brambles of her territory's peripherals. The girl once known as Keiedia was loathe to infringe upon the thicket of the mother as her delivery approached but sensed the pups would see this day's sunset by the hitch of Moonshadow's gait, the heft of her lungs as they strained in excercise. As the shadowed sprite retired to her earthen walls, the Wound-binder drew to the side of the thicket's low entrance. Dark plume curled neatly about her paws, russet-caped crown turning as she scanned the surroundings, a protective sentinel over the birth of Moonshadow's children. The soft cries of pain flattened her onyx auds in sympathy but she dared not approach yet. The witch had provided the Moon lady with herbs to ease the pain of delivery and Istoira doubted her presence would be welcome within the whelping den. Her tail swished gently as the tiny squalls of pups filled the air, alongside the scent of blood and birth. Moonshadow's whimpers of distress and the distaught howl would finally bring the warrioress to the den's maw - citrine optics of sorrow dancing over the stillborn to land upon the new mother reassuringly. "I can bury her if you'd like," the dark sylph murmurs consolingly, knowing that Moonshadow was too weak for such a task currently and a firm believer that no mother should have to bury her baby. RE: Stars fell from the sky - Moonshadow - May 08, 2019 The dark female whimpered as her gaze fell once again on her fallen little one. She was a beautiful pure white almost a spitting image of her mother. Moonshadow made one last attempt to nudge her little one but it was no use she was long gone. Then she was approached by Istoira. Moonshadow gazed upon the woman with sad eyes and nodded her head. “Please.” RE: Stars fell from the sky - Istoira - May 08, 2019 With bowed head, she nimbles to the mother's side - hunkered, nonthreatening in her approach. The last the Moon's daughter need worry about now in her state of grief is a perceived danger to her newborns. Istoira's gaze dances only briefly over the living children - plump, squirming hues of shadow and snow - with a brief thought of welcome to the world. The healer takes the tiny form in her maw as gently as she would an eggshell, departing with the cold pup upon a twirl of her dark paws - lest Moonshadow let her eyes linger on the lost child. To the woods she would take the unmoving daughter of moonlight, to a fold of the wooded hills not within immediate sight of the den, placing the girl gently upon the earth as her paws worked to loosen the soil and unearth a small pit for the child's body. The soft blip of white winked out of existence beneath heaps of red earth - a hollow ache awakened in the woman's chest by the sight. A soft grey stone, flat and river-smoothened, with a faint sheen of silver would mark the grave as a headstone and a cluster of wild white chick daisies rested upon the small grave. Istoira would show it to Moonshadow someday, if ever she felt the need to see the girl's resting place. The dark witch turned to hasten back to her girl's side but paused, brow wrinkling slightly. It seemed wrong that the child go unacknowledged into death. "Stars, moon, and sun, gather to watch over the lost girl. She was unnamed but not unloved - let her know only peace in her journey back to the Mother." She left the new grave with the sighs of wind and songs of birds to lull the stillborn babe. The shadow hesitated near the boundaries of Moonshadow's den upon her return - uncertain if she would want pivacy to grieve or company after her stressful delivery. @Rowan I thought perhaps your post was a cameo but if not I apologize for skipping you
RE: Stars fell from the sky - Tundra - May 08, 2019 veery quick lil cameo~ just gonna say she came and went just after istoira arrived.
it was any other day, soft steps allowing her pale form to drift rather aimlessly amongst the familiar trees that helped stand guard over her home. however it would change with drastic speed when a low breeze would rustle the branches as they whispered excitedly to each other with what came with it- the oh so familiar metallic tang of blood. panic would flicker in her chest as her movements grew more purposeful until a brisk but thankfully short trot brought her to the now increasingly familiar form of moonshadow. however hasty steps would suddenly draw to a rather abrupt halt upon what the scene revealed itself to be. the girl remains frozen for a few moments like a deer caught in the headlights, had the other's leg been hanging from their body she wouldn't have reacted in such a manner but this...memories pushed tauntingly against the boundaries of her mind- forcing her ears to pin back against her head in a very rare sign of distress. pups would never be her forte anyway but such a reaction was brought on mainly due to memories she could not afford to allow to resurface but now attacked her with a new courage due to the fresh ammunition they carried behind them. she was still out of sight and shifted uneasily from paw to paw, she couldn't just leave her alone could she? however such thoughts could be put to rest when she recognised moonshadow's ally- istoira wasn't it? arrive to the scene and upon being welcomed by the older packmate, be quick to assist her. the soldier would exhale slowly and only now step from the shadows she'd grown so close to that she'd mastered the art of using them to choose when she wished to be visible and approach the two although coming to a stop a good few paces away. a soft chuff was all that slipped from her jaws as her head dipped slightly- expressing to the new mother that she would be nearby making sure no trouble would come to them. after all that's what she did best, she could be their protector but that was it. her cool gaze slipped across the small forms only once, noting the lifeless form and feeling a dull ache hit her so hard in the pits of her stomach that for a fleeting moment she thought she was going to get sick. nevertheless such feelings remained as hidden as ever behind a thorny facade as she would proceed to slip away once more after throwing istoira an approving look too, glad to see her fitting in to their home so well. she would remain near the new little family- alert for anything that could be a potential threat whilst trying to grapple with the crack that had formed within, no way could that go unrepaired. RE: Stars fell from the sky - Moonshadow - May 10, 2019 Sad eyes watched as Istoira picked up the deceased pup. Ever so gently she removed her and a whimper escaped her muzzle. She would be in the stars. The female gazed upon her little trio and smiled. She was exhausted, however the thought of Nikan and others potentially being nearby made her struggling to keep her eyes open. Moonshadow curled around her newborns. I won’t let anyone harm you. Her eyes began to grow heavy as she began to slowly drift off to sleep. RE: Stars fell from the sky - Istoira - May 13, 2019 Her gaze lifted to lock upon whichever packmate had arrived on the scene, though she withstrained herself from displaying any sort of defensive body language - despite her feelings for Moonshadow and the flickering warmth of a connection she was developing to the younglings at her belly, she was at the bottom of the food chain here and it would not bode well for her to be stepping on any toes. A moment of concern reached her, detecting the odd glint within Tundra's eyes from afar as the woman weaved through the trees, half-rising to her paws from her sentry beside the den's entrance. Istoira found herself falling back on sooty haunches, thinking she must have imagined it, when the tundrian's cool gaze found her and a slight nod of appreciation was offered. Her dark crown titled instinctively, hellish gaze watching the woman go. Her tail wagged once, glad that she could add another to the list of newfound packmates who didn't seem to hate her. Her attention was drawn to the shadow within as the tang of anxiety clouded the mother's scent and subsequently that of the pups. Istoira felt her features crumble in concern, thinking perhaps her close proximity was upsetting the new mother. "Moon?" She whispered softly, muzzle quavering inquisitively much like a rabbit's as she poked her head into the whelping nest cautiously. She was met with a sight that melted her poorly-concealed heart, the sight of the raven curled protectively around her babes. An intense desire to clamber into the dwelling and curl around them all washed over her but the Storm-bringer withheld. She stretched her dark length before the entrance, head propped upon her paws as her gaze swept over their surroundings. Soft whimpers and incoherent mumbles escaped her lips as slept, nearly drowned out by the mewls of the children, but Moonshadow slept on fitfully. "You can rest," Istoira whispered to the slumbering lot of them, unaware that she may have inadverdently become part of the little family Tundra had looked upon fondly, "I won't let anything harm you." |
