i'm killing with that line tonight. - Figment - May 18, 2019

Fig had learned a new trick. It was a really, really cool trick too, let me tell you. It was the first trick he had ever learned that had successfully gotten him attention, like, every time. And it was so easy to do! All it took was to position himself at the entrance of the den, suck in his breath real big into his lungs, tilt his head back, and howl.

Except for the fact that he didn't pick on on this trait from listening to his dad. No, he unfortunately picked it up from Aunt Mommy. So when he howled, it was a smaller, squeakier version of her wild, jangled caterwauling. And the only reason it got him attention was because the other adults in the pack were either attempting to teach him how to do it right, or they were trying to make him stop.

Either way, it wasn't working one bit. He had tried it his dad's way and it just wasn't nearly as fun or effective. So no thanks, pops! This boy is gonna yodel like a dying cat, all the livelong day. Speaking of which...

Fig stretched one of those real good, reach with every limb kind of stretches as dawn broke over the Plateau. He trotted happily away from his sleeping parent(s), right out to the den's entrance where he did a little pee in the corner, then moved to the very center of the doorway and plopped onto his little bum. Then, he sucked his breath in real big, tilted back his head, and began to howl a happy good morning to Neverland the pack.

Fenn woke up to caterwauling, business as usual.  She was not nearly as thrilled with his finding as Fig was, because the noise was not pleasant for her sensitive ears.

Feeya no!  The toddler command at her brother was delivered in a very upfront manner, but it was unclear if it would be loud enough for him to hear it over the sound of his own voice.

Fig paused his screeching abruptly when Fenn appeared beside him. He turned to give her an enthusiastic grin as she shouted at him. She seemed grumpy for some reason, but he wasn't bothered because he knew just the trick to turn that frown upside down.

"Feb pay!" Fig chirped, inviting her to join him in his song (I have no idea how to write this babbling thing). He then opened his mouth wide and, keeping his face pointed directly at hers, began to "howl" once again, right in her face. Let the gratitude commence!

That was SO NOT what she meant.  Fennec gave him the eye as he looked at her cheerfully, but he was apparently unaware that she'd told him 'no' because he immediately started in again, this time in her face.

Her ears were not havin it, and she was gonna be a spoil sport for it.  She didn't even like it when aunt mom Towhee howled.  She didn't wait, but went around him and out of the den.  At least outside it didn't bounce!

Feeya no, she threw back one more time, then made her way a little ways out.  Then, her wicked little mind spotted something..... a nice, thick bush.  Perfect for hiding from her annoying brother.

Fig paused to give his sister a baffled look as she backpedaled away from him. She looked displeased, as though he hadn't been screeching loud enough. The shifting of bodies in the den stole his attention briefly. He turned to look back as Towhee stretched and gave a yawn before rolling onto her side and going back to sleep. When he looked back around at Fen to tell her See? Towhee doesn't mind it!, he found that she had disappeared.

Sonofa--

The boy leaped to all fours and spun about, trying to locate Fen and failing. He began to whine as he abandoned the den's mouth to look outside, barreling through the grass as his whine grew higher and higher pitched. When he bashed his head against the bush his sister happened to be hiding in (a fact he remained oblivious to), he turned his back on it, gave one last wild look around, and began to caterwaul in an effort to call her back.

And here we learn that Fenn is a little bit of an asshole.  As her brother began to caterwaul, she stayed where she was, huddled up beneath the bush.  She smiled as she did... she couldn't see him but she could hear.

She wasn't heartless, but it was pretty funny hearing him panic.  You know what might be even better?

Sneaking forward, she breathed in deep and then tried to let out the deepest, most guttural growl she could.  If a puppy could sound like an asthmatic bear, she was gonna manage it.

Pfft. A little bit. On what planet did sneak attacking your brother with blatant fear-mongering count as only being a "little bit" of an asshole? This was mega asshole level shit. I'm upset at that sentence. Moving on.

Fig froze mid-shriek, his entire body tensing as he heard the sound. It was unlike anything he'd ever heard before. So squeaky-deep, so menacing and feral. He didn't move his head as his eyes shifted back and forth, searching for the source of the sound (Phox clearly needed to spend more time teaching him how to use his damn ears, I mean she's right fucking there). He trembled when he had no luck and began to whine piteously. It was one thing to not be able to find Fen, but it was a whole 'nother mass of bull shit that he was going to be eaten by god damn baby bear to boot.

RE: i'm killing with that line tonight. - Fennec - May 27, 2019

She had him good and spooked now, she imagined... she couldn't really tell because she couldn't see his face, but this was nothing new.  His yelling had decreased in frequency, so it was about time to give up the game.

FEEYA RRRRRGGGGHHHH She yelled/growled as she charged out of the bush and towards Fig.  She was definitely going to try and tackle him.  'Too far' joke-wise isn't a concept I think Fenn will ever be comfortable with.  This was a great, hilarious prank she had just pulled, and now her mood was amazing and she was definitely ready to play.

Fig turned his head to look pitifully into the den at his parents and was about to beg for their assistance when Fen attacked. He screeched in panicked surprise as he was tackled, but otherwise he just collapsed like a ton of bricks. He probably should've fought back, or tried to escape, or... done anything at all. But no, he just yelled and flopped beneath her, too frightened to do anything else but play dead. If the dead kept screaming post mortem, anyway.

RE: i'm killing with that line tonight. - Fennec - June 03, 2019

As Fig screamed, Fenn took the opportunity to nip at his ear before she rolled off of him, laughing hysterically.  Because yes, his screaming was absolutely one of the best things she'd ever seen and she'd gotten him so good.  It was fun! And surely once Fig knew she wasn't a monster he'd think it was fun too! Because who could ever be upset by a joke.

Yeah.

RE: i'm killing with that line tonight. - Figment - June 06, 2019

It took a few seconds longer than it ought to have before Fig realized he was not about to get murdered. His screaming trailed off slowly as he opened his eyes and peered around to spot Fenn, laughing gleefully at something... He twisted on his back to look around more and when eventually he didn't find any bears, it dawned on him who his attacker had been.

"FENNY!!" Fig screeched angrily, rolling to all fours and leaping after her. He was going to bury her for scaring him and for laughing at him over it. It hadn't been funny at all! Except a glance into the den would've told him that at least one of his parents was also laughing. Though hopefully they were laughing at a funny joke they'd heard earlier that day, and not at his dramatic overreaction and utter failure to defend himself against a blind infant.

RE: i'm killing with that line tonight. - Fennec - June 08, 2019

His screech only made Fennec laugh harder, so she was a pretty easy target when he launched himself after her.  His tackle didn't concern her a whole lot.  Feeya scared she laughed, and then wrapped her forepaws around whatever she could to try and roll him over sideways.

RE: i'm killing with that line tonight. - Figment - June 15, 2019

Fig barrelled into his sister, but didn't do much in the was of gaining the upper hand. He was soon enough tangled up in her limbs, growing even more aggitated as she laughed a taunt right into his ear. He fell beneath her and tried to grip her back, opening his jaws to bite down on whatever part of her he could get. It would only be a couple of minutes after that, though, that he was laughing too. Not that he would ever find her rudeness funny, but he would find it pretty easy to get past his anger and get wrapped up in the fun of play fighting with his horribly mean, immensely loved little sister.

wrappin' this up! <3
