Spears shall be shaken, - Rohirrim - June 09, 2019

Late evening.
12 — HCM roll.

He moved north as the air began to cool. Heat radiated off of the soil despite the roaming sun's gradual descent towards the horizon, and as the golden hour gave way to a greying sky, the dog found himself in another forest. It smelled better here; the colors of the trees were glorious and bright, and the forest floor held smatterings of leaf-litter that prompted some silly behaviour out of him. He chased the dust in the dying shafts of light, or plunged nose-first in to piles of leaves and came out the other side looking utterly wild with his tail beating furiously. It was like autumn — but warmer, at least until the light had completely faded and the clouds swept across the sky. Rohirrim spent a few hours romping and when he grew tired, he collapsed in a heap with his tongue lolling from his slender little face.

RE: Spears shall be shaken, - Bat - June 12, 2019

She closed in and snatched the rabbit by the tuft of its tail. Its forward momentum thwarted, her prey began to buck and squirm wildly. Bat took several kicks to the face before she could strike out a paw, pinning the poor creature to the forest floor and dispatching it with a swift bite to its throat. The rabbit went limp and Bat stood panting over the still-warm carcass. The blood pooled slowly, the scent eventually enticing her to eat.

When she finished bolting down the fresh meat, Bat tore the skin with her teeth, a loud rrrip! echoing through the wood. She licked the backside clean of tissue and vessels, then began to gnaw on the bones, suckling the marrow. She hadn't eaten in days before and savored every bit of nourishment she could get. Traveling alone was rewarding in a lot of ways, yet food wasn't easy to come by.

Finally finished, Bat kicked some leaves over her spoils and began to meander through the forest, heading slowly northward. She had an inkling that her birthplace wasn't far from here, where land met the sea, though Bat wasn't entirely sure and, anyway, she didn't intend to go there. She was just wandering for the sake of it, her current path leading her directly past a small, strange canine whose prostrate form was blocked by a sturdy maple trunk.
