and drew daggers over the curve of her throat - RIP Blodreina - July 07, 2019

blodreina, after being relayed the news that she's the lead hunter for the month, takes to the territory with @Praimfaya hot on her heels. while she could've let the girl with ingram she figured the wanheda is old enough to get a feel for how ( serious ) hunting took place. like everything blodreina does: it is methodical; though admittedly she is a much better warrior than she is hunter, despite there being a period in her life that she'd tried and eventually given up on pursuing hunter as a secondary trade. when scouting potential prey, praimfaya, it is important to take in the state of the pack and consider how many of its members can participate. blodreina begins her lesson as the pair of them scout arrow lake for something suitable to hunt. kazimir is — how did blodreina say crippled without sounding insensitive? injured, its not quite a suitable replacement but it works. still, the wanlida isn't sure how much help the now three-legged woman would be.

ketzia recently gave birth and thus cannot leave her newborns, unaware of the drama circulating the pups and unconcerned with who the general beds she thinks that whatever they decide to hunt must be enough to spare plenty for the new mother. the general's cubs might be old enough to help providing the prey isn't too dangerous but you are not. a soft chuckle leaves blodreina's lips as she watches her daughter wrinkle her nose and let out a lofty huff. it did seem a little contradicting to begin her sparring lessons but force her to stay back during hunts ...however, praimfaya was in no danger of being hurt by her while terrified prey? were unpredictable and not any sort of position reina wanted her daughter in.

you can watch from the safety of the sidelines, praimfaya. before you know it, you'll be able to join us. blodreina attempts to assure the girl who lets out another petulant huff but gives a curt nod of agreement. motion catches blodreina's eye and she stops, slinking down to her belly to watch the mountain goats descend. it was rare to see them so low to the ground but definitely safer while eyeing them as potential pack hunt targets. come, praimfaya. blodreina corrals the girl back, keeping her movements swift but quiet as to not startle the goats as they graze the tall grasses. once the pair of them have enough distance between themselves and the goats blodreina tips her head back and lets out a call for the pack, beckoning them to her.

RE: and drew daggers over the curve of her throat - Stag - July 07, 2019

Stag had been present for only one other hunt, the elk he and the other cubs had watched from the ridge. The basilisk's first-born was all to eager to prove his mettle, and was one of the first to arrive following Blodreina's howl.

In the coolest manner he was capable of, Stag aligned himself near Praimfaya -- to outsiders it may have looked he was indifferent (or that it was happenstance he stood alongside her) but those that knew him would have known he drew a quiet reassurance from his eager compatriot, and sought her gaze only once before turning carefully to the girl's mother and leader of the hunt.

RE: and drew daggers over the curve of her throat - Mesa - July 07, 2019

Images of the last hunt had dominated his sleep for many of his dreams, and on more than one occasion he had jostled himself awake with the churning of his legs as he ran across a dreamscape after those mighty beasts; sometimes beside his siblings as a great wave, other times careening ahead of them. To be summoned now, to be included, created a powerful sense of pride within him - more so than when he had been given his name.

The boy was the second to arrive and he did so at an awkward run, scrambling across the terrain and kicking rocks from his path. He was not subtle and never aimed to be; Mesa was far too reactionary at this age, eager to show off and prove himself.

He joined the gathering by nearly side-swiping a tree as he barrelled down an incline. With his breaths huffing and puffing from a gaping muzzle the boy righted himself and jauntily approached like nothing was amiss. He saw his brother first - Praimfaya second - and only really smartened up when his gaze passed over Blodreina, the sole adult present.

RE: and drew daggers over the curve of her throat - Kazimir - July 08, 2019

Even more now did the muscles in her sole foreleg bulge, her shoulders broader and body lean in a way that helped her navigate and keep light on her paws. She wasn't big and bulky anymore but instead looked although the more of a fierce warrior, though unlike Blondreina she preferred hunting. She had managed to catch that resident gopher that had been around the lake and had before that, managed to catch a skunk off guard enough to end it's life quickly. She felt more alive than she ever had and her confidence grew. When the call went up she began the trek across the pack territory and arrived before anyone else managed to show up. She glimpsed over the children and recognised the boy who had stalked her a day or so back. She wondered if any of them knew that she had succeeded in becoming the Pioner, that she had challenged Ingram and been handed the rank. That she had been deemed worthy of that.

She didn't say anything but gave a nod of greeting to the woman as she lowered herself down, her ears flicking as the sound of a goat's bleat caught her attention. She eyed them warily, their horns were massive and she had a much more open chest and space for them to nail her. She could play a distraction, she was nimble enough and certain of herself to the point where she could keep a good distance and dodge any potential charges. "I can help" she didn't say anything more than that but looked to Bondreina for a brief moment, wondering if she'd try to say anything against it. She looked away and toward they're prey after a second, determined to hunt whether or not the woman wanted her help. There was something about the woman that made her believe it wouldn't be a problem and as such she relaxed, lowering her head so she could see the goats but not look too suspicious.

RE: and drew daggers over the curve of her throat - Takiyok - July 12, 2019

She had been at the lake with Monarch, swimming and teaching her about the many different plants and animals they came into contact with. She often butted heads with her stubborn daughter and had been pleasantly surprised by the absence of any incident...until just before the summons rang out over the territory. She had been scolding her little clone because despite her numerous warnings to leave the water snake alone, she had deliberately sought it out, forcing Taki to intercept the reptile's retaliation and barely avoiding a bite herself.

She arrived with a very miffed Monarch close behind. Turning to her, tone short, she ordered: Sit here with the other children and don't move. She was not in the mood for complaints, so she swiftly turned her attention to Blodreina, gaze drifting to the prey in the distance. She was looking forward to hunting with the pack, and she quietly waited for more packmates to arrive, excited despite her lingering frustration with her daughter.
