Curious to see - Rye - July 20, 2019

A week had past since Rye last spoke to Towhee, and he had only seen snippets of her since then. He missed her, but she was catching up with X, so he would have to wait his turn. For now, he wondered the borders as he did in Redhawks. Doing his usual, failing to catch game and chasing scents to nowhere. He gave up after a few failed attempts, something that wasn't normal of him but as of late he was too tired. His normal energized self was lacking, and so was his appetite. He couldn't even breath properly with his nose all runny, and sneezy. Those were probably not the best signs but he hoped it could be solved with rest and relaxation. Although he wasn't doing that now, he also didn't wanna be lazy and he knew he needed to get food.

After some time of scavenging for anything alive and delicious, he found a small colony of 4 (group of rabbits). One of them was bound to be slow but it was a gamble to which one was, Rye made his move or rather sprint. To the one furthest to the left, all four scattered in different directions but Rye stayed close to the tail of his chosen meal. The rabbit put dear old Rye through the trial of his life, quick turns and even faster sprints. Though it was all over soon, Rye had caught his meal by the neck and clamped down. The skin on his muzzle lifted greatly to aid in his cool down as he panted. With enough time the creature stopped moving and Rye found himself wheezing and too tired to enjoy his meal. He let go of his meal then coughed hard and a small amount of phlem flew from his mouth, on the bright side he could breath better and caught his breath. He shook his fur out, and picked up his hard fought reward then began to make his way back home. Perhaps he should just stash it for later.

He had spent a bit getting the lay of the land. It was a strange feeling, being part of something more than what just revolved around himself. He would acclimate—it was something he had planned on doing time and over again, but something always felt missing. It still did—but he just swallowed that foggy notion.

He had spent time marking the borders earlier, and now he considered tracking one of the herds he had seen earlier. He paused mid-step, golden fur ruffling in the breeze that swept past as a phlegmy cough broke the peaceful silence.

Glancing over his shoulder, he seen a tawny male coming toward him, though the wolf didn’t seem to notice him yet. He recognized the guy only slightly, as he was still placing names to faces.

It only just occured to him that whatever he's got going on could be spreadable. Which meant that rabbit was now souly his, he would need to bury it in a special cache reserved for him. That brought up another problem, if he was down and out he couldn't support the pack, at least food wise. However Rye wrote that out of the equation for the time being, he just told himself rest, sleep and water was his fix all cure. Other steps would be taken if needed but he wasn't to that point, yet.

Drowned in his own thoughts, Rye took his sweet time to notice the male but when he did he stopped in his tracks immediately, tail raised. It was an friendly, Rye didn't know their name but he was just glad they weren't some intruder. Putting his tail back down, Rye kept the distance (which was still respectable talking distance) between them, best not spead it if it was spreadable. He dropped his kill, and with a slightly raspy breath he spoke. "Hey, don't mind the distance just a precaution if you haven't heard my coughing and hacking. But uh, my name Rye and you?"

Eyeing his pack mate—a term he supposed was meant to put some form of amicability and companionship toward the other—he gave a quick nod of silent greeting, his own black-tipped tail giving an idle flick through the air. “Pippin,” he returned, allowing a moment of silence to follow his introduction.

“Sounds like you have a cold.” Genius presumption, Pip. “Anything you need help with to lighten your load so you can get some rest?”

Pips offer to help was warming but Rye would shake his head with a small smile. "No, no, I'll be alright. Thank you though, much appreciated." He gave a quick nodd before continuing on with a question. "What brings you out here?"

His offer was refused, but the agouti Ostrega didn't take it as offensive. At the question, the lean male gave a gentle chuff, his molten eyes drifting around the two with consideration. "Looking to make myself useful," he admitted, giving a small shrug. "I'm thinking about tracking a herd of deer I caught scent of earlier. Want to join, or are you off to rest?"

Instant no, hunting wasn't on his to do list any time soon, not for himself and most certainly not for his packmates. He immediately shook his head, "No, no way. Gotta nurse this sick and not spread it around. Good luck to you though."

Sorry about the wait, I completely forgot about this! Your welcome to post again or just archive it!

Understandable. “Feel better, man,” he chimed, giving a sweep of his tail and a small nod of his head before continuing his trek and purpose. Asterism Grove was home to a small crew, none of which he felt entirely sure of yet.
