i will hang the moon and sun - Dorea - July 29, 2019

hoping for @Sundance possibly? AW though!

A smooth, gold-veined stone was gently clutched between her jaws as she navigated through the territory of Elysium. It had been discovered during a fit of exploring the new lands she found herself in. Typically she would have thought to stash the shiny stone away for herself but there was a particular someone she wanted to share the stone with. Someone who was not her mother or sister, a peculiar change in her habits for once.

Her eyes searched for the platinum fur of the soft spoken boy. His scent dotted here and there, as one would expect for a wolf who lived within the walls of Elysium. It seemed narrowing him down would not be the easiest task in the world but she would see it through.

He'd been nosing around the garden as his mother tended to her plants, listening obediently as she shared with him her knowledge of each one that captured his attention. It was a place that Sundance loved to share with her, somewhere he could see light in her eyes again, and he was always happy to accompany her there.

When the approach of another drew his attention, however, the silver youngster felt a sudden and selfish desire to be elsewhere. Powder blue eyes gazed with curiosity as the familiar black and white figure of Dorea weaved through the foliage with purpose, and Olive took note of her son's interest. She dismissed him and, with a cheerful leap akin to a spring lamb, Sundance loped excitedly away to greet his newest friend.

"Hi," the boy chirped, white-tipped tail sweeping as he eased to a halt before her.

She had not meant to pull him away from his own family but there was no denying the warm sensation in her chest as she watched Sundance bound towards her position. He was so lively with his movements. Something to be appreciated by the girl who barely spoke. Even if she had wanted to mumble back a response, there was the smooth stone settled against her tongue still. A silent reminder of what she was here for.

With more care that she typically used, she moved to set the stone down by Sundance's own pale paws. For you. Her words soft as her blue eyes eagerly looked for his reaction to her gift.

"Me?" Sundance asked, blinking down at the pebble she'd placed on the ground before him. He stared at it for a time, admiring its smooth surface and delicate hues, and smiled softly. No one his own age had ever given him anything, and to know that Dorea thought of him when she found this particular stone was enough to warm his heart.

Powder eyes sought her own bright blues, and his expression brightened. "Thanks," he announced with a happy wave of his tail.

Her head bobbed with an unusual eagerness when he asked me? for she had picked it just for him. Found it among useless rubble and what a delight it had been to find! In a way she thought it to be like Sundance. The move to Elysium had not promised much but she had found a friend in the boy. He had even helped to soothe Dakota's transition into the new place too. How could she not adore him ever so slightly?

Then there was a curiousness that had crept up inside of her mind as she recalled him with someone in the plants. What were you doing? Her voice soft like she might be intruding just by asking before she gestured towards the garden.

That happy little nod of her head was enough to send his heart soaring, and Sundance's gently swaying tail quickened pace. His gentle blue eyes lowered once more to look upon his gift and, carefully, he raised his pale paw to reach out and carefully boop it with the tip of a toe - as though it might be made of glass.

He grinned, then returned his gaze to Dorea as she asked what he'd been doing prior to her arrival. "Helping mother in her garden," Sundance chirped, "she needs to keep it tidy." Too young to realise that he was probably the most unhelpful choice when it came to Olive's care of her flora, his curiosity and eagerness to learn was likely enough to consider good company.

His answer had been far more intriguing than she could have expected. She anticipated a reply of perhaps going for a stroll or merely looking around but he had said a word she did not know.

Garden? She questioned in a slightly hushed tone, brows pulling together to convey her confusion with the word. Context clues would tell her the collection of plants was perhaps the garden but what made those plants a garden compared to everything else? Or was everything a garden and she had just been left in the dark?

Embarassment threatened to gnaw her into nothing but she held still — calm — as she awaited his response.

@Dorea sorry for the delay, I've neglected Sundance a bit  :(

"She grows her herbs there," he told his two-toned companion with a smile, lifting his pale muzzle to point his snout toward where his mother busied herself a short distance away. "She's a healer, she makes medicine from what grows there."

His attenton returned to Dorea and a silvery ear pricked forward, soft blue eyas studying her face. "How are you?" Sundance asked, eager to know that all was well after the unrest with her twin.
