Bending or breaking, giving or taking - Helios - August 28, 2019

Sleeping has become impossible; slipping from his outreached grasp, yet always hinted. It is a torture that leaves the young raven feeling lifeless. Even back within Swiftcurrent Creek, he cannot relax—cautious, for he’s already learned that life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.

Laying in a clearing near enough to the family den, the boy rests his chin upon his forearms. He focuses on the stars above, as he often does when after dusk. They are a comfort in a world that seems fractured.

RE: Bending or breaking, giving or taking - Morena - August 28, 2019

She was finally running on something more than instinct, a rudimentary understanding beginning to form as her ears blossomed and hearing joined the all-important tools she had to learn. Her eyesight had only gotten better, the tiny flecks of green she'd been born with slowly beginning to grow as she reached the two-month mark, a hint of their true color coming through.

She hadn't fully been able to pick out the lights up above, before; her sight had been too poor, and it had been too far. Since their discovery, she'd been stumbling outside to look at them the moment someone took an eye off of her, though generally, she didn't wander too far.

Tonight she'd come out to stare again, though her rapture was easily broken by something else. Or rather, someone else, the scent, somewhere, sort of...familiar. But also not? Morena's nose twitched curiously as she puzzled it out, but the memory of playing with Lainie was fresh enough in her mind to make the connection. Sibling!

Morena gave an eager yip and bounced forward to find them, stumbling a little though she was slowly growing into her legs. The paws were another matter, as she would quickly find out when she spotted the older pup and tripped over them in the same breath, rolling forward and landing on her chest with a grunt.

RE: Bending or breaking, giving or taking - Helios - September 26, 2019

Even lost in the stars as he is, the clumsy movements of his younger sibling are impossible to ignore. Ears first twitch in the direction, pondering for a moment if it is @Zephyr, yet closer inspection reveals that the footfalls are different.

The young raven boy shifts his golden gaze towards the bundle of cocoa and cream. His fur briefly bristles, thinking perhaps he ought to avoid them, if his parents would not trust even he—doting older brother—to be within their presence. He remembers how harsh Alessia had been towards Zephyr, he remembered how cautious Rosalie was after their return.

Yet he has no more time to wonder, for he is forced to act when the child slumps and falls flat upon her chest in attempts to approach him playfully. Helios rises to his feet, lanky, thin form sweeping too quiet over the terrain as he moves to inspect her for injury. None stand out, and so he gives her a comforting lick to the forehead. « What are you doing out here? »
