Birth of a pearl - RIP Evermore - September 04, 2019 She wasn't expecting to find herself at the ocean. However, she couldn't deny the land before her was quite peaceful. The sun was on its last legs before it would fully surrender to the moon's wishes to raise into the sky and bring the tide with her. Evermore continued wading through the cool water, the wet sand felt theraputic to her, as if it was grounding her to the earth. She felt at peace, at least, for this calm moment she had to herself. Although she tried to continue onward, Evermore couldn't help but stop herself to fully look at the sun's final moments of descent. Glistening rays of yellows and oranges and pinks scattered across the gentle waves created in this little peninsula. Soon, everything grew to be shades of purple and blue, bidding the warmth of the sun goodbye. "Beautiful..." was all she could get out, her body completely under the spell of the ocean. She had never experienced a sunset like this, now she could only wonder what the sunrises were like. RE: Birth of a pearl - Cephaloryn - September 08, 2019 note to self — recent dated (discussed with evermore's player!) and tags are for reference
He had departed from @Thresher's side for a few moments, likely not out of hearing distance should she call or he for her. The sun would be setting soon anyway and he lacked the desire to go wandering around in the dark. He was not entirely sure what he was in hunt of anyway. If he had set out with a task he had quickly forgotten it. Something summoned his attention though. A distant voice uttering a single word. It took him a second to find her form, perhaps longer than it should have but he was sluggish. Hello. He rasped as he lingered just out of reach, weary of how she might react. RE: Birth of a pearl - RIP Evermore - September 08, 2019 It was quiet, and perhaps a little sudden. Yet, the voice was welcoming to her. The agouti turned her head to see where the voice lingered from and saw a face before hers. A tall man that made her feel shrunken. Badly injured That was the first to come mind. Yet, Evermore has enough manners to not calm him out for his rugged appearance, though she couldn’t deny she was curious. ”Evening,” she exchanged to him, “What brings you out tonight?” She turned her body towards him as an invitation to come closer to her. He looked like he could use some company. RE: Birth of a pearl - Cephaloryn - September 08, 2019 He moved closer at the invitation, happy with more soothing company. Although her question seemed to grind gears in his brain.
Just...He wearily trailed off as he wondered, what was he doing out here again? Food perhaps? He couldn't recall and by the time he sorted it out he almost forgot he hadn't properly answered her. Looking. He tacked on as an after thought. Do you...live here?It was a chore to talk so much but he was curious at this moment. It was a blessing to be able to spare the concentration and energy. RE: Birth of a pearl - RIP Evermore - September 08, 2019 Looking? It almost sounded suspicious. But to Evermore, she always assumed the good. So she just hummed and left it be, she was glad someone else could enjoy sightseeing. “I like looking at the sunsets, all the colors are so pretty.” It was a simple conversation, unknowingly her acquaintance might just enjoy having a less complicated talk. As for her home, Evermore shook her head. “No, I don’t really live anywhere specific. But I might just stay here until something comes up,” she said thoughtfully, glazing over the idea of having a permanent home, “Do you live nearby?” RE: Birth of a pearl - Cephaloryn - September 09, 2019 His eyes moved to look from her to the skies, dripping with hues that he couldn't exactly describe. She was right though. Pretty. It was a valid description. Had he more brain he might have uttered words that agreed with her or added onto the point. All he could offer was a gentle nod, though.
It's nice...here.He blinked slowly as he glanced around. He could not speak for the whole coast, memories shrouded in a fog he did not have the energy or power to break through. But here...it was so lovely. He had a companion though that made this place livable. She cared for him, shielded him from the elements. And if he closed his eyes he could almost see — oh. She said something, hadn't she? Mhmm.He hummed softly as his gaze tried to focus on her earthy form, tether himself to this place instead of his thoughts. Sort of.The male corrected himself as he broke his own tether to look around once more. I know someone...she's around somewhere. RE: Birth of a pearl - Thresher - September 09, 2019 With the advent of evening, and a tide which would come in and fill in the tide pools, Thresher had made it her task to collect as many edible gifts from the ocean as possible, roving along the tide pools and picking up any crabs or other small fish and crustaceans as she could find, incapacitating them and leaving them near the whale bones where she would take Rokig later, to have a small feast before they settled in for the night. He'd gone off on his own, but she knew he would not wander very far, and it was easy enough to follow his pawprints. Once she'd collected a few crabs and two small fish, she began to track him down, meandering along the shore until she saw him in the distance, speaking to a kindly looking female. As if on cue, he turned his head, and she made eye contact with him, giving him a smile as she picked up a trot to join him. She swept to his side, and touched her nose to his cheek in a friendly way, before she smiled somewhat shyly at the female he'd been speaking to, and bowed her head. "Peace be," She greeted softly, and a bit self-consciously, nibbled at a few tufts of hair near her shoulder which had begun to stick together due to the exposure to salt water. "Am T..Thresher," She said carefully, taking the time to pronounce her own name correctly. RE: Birth of a pearl - RIP Evermore - September 09, 2019 Her friend didn’t come off as a talkative one. His responses were short, yet showed he fully understood her and could hold a conversation. His comment about the niceness of the beach made her hum in delight and nod her head. It was a lovely place, this water and this sand. As for the talk of his life near the ocean, his response made Evermore perk up. There was another? Eventually, this mystery wolf came into view. Another lady, with an honest and shy approach, came closer and brushed herself next to the male that Evermore didn’t even know the name to. Returning the greeting, Evermore dipped her head. “Nice to meet you, Thresher. I’m Evermore,” she responded before she casted her eyes towards the large male, “I’m afraid I didn’t catch your name, though.” RE: Birth of a pearl - Cephaloryn - September 09, 2019 Ah, there she was.
His tail offered a few soft sways as she brushed against him and announced herself to the earthy woman. Peace be she had spoke and a tired smile tugged at his lips. Then introductions were shared and his brain seemed to draw a blank. A name. He knew he had one, he had to, for everyone had one. Yet he could not place it even as his tongue pressed against his teeth to speak. I...His voice drifted off as something akin to embarrassment grabbed hold of him. Silver eyes hesitantly looked to Thresher for some sort of guidance. What might she call him? Could she dub him a new name to give the stranger? RE: Birth of a pearl - Thresher - September 09, 2019 Evermore. Her name sounded like a promise, a promise of something endearing and fulfilling, that would last forever; Thresher liked it. "Beauty-ful name," She said, speaking softly but earnestly. She often shied away from using proper grammar, as she felt she could convey herself perfectly well without using full sentences, the way her mother did. There was something so innocent and endearing about the way Coelacanth spoke, and so poetic as well- so Thresher ofted imitated her speech patterns. But halfway through complimenting Evermore as having "Beauty name" as she would have normally spoken, she reminded herself to be more formal with strangers. She had the full capacity of speaking properly...But it was so easy to fall into a succinct, albeit disjunct way of speaking. Thresher hadn't exactly noticed that she hadn't heard Rokig speak his name. He looked to her, then, and she wondered for a moment if he was wondering if she remembered his name, as it didn't seem that he did- or that he wanted to go by it. She'd been a young child when her parents had met him at the borders, and names hadn't generally been stated at pack meetings unless someone was being singled out. So she didn't remember it; but she felt she might like to give him a name she felt suited him, and that he might like it too. She wanted something that would suit him- and something that reminded her of the way her parents had named their children. Her own mother's name was derived from a fish name, and Thresher, Koi, Sixgill and Grayling were all named after fish. Him, however- he was majestic, gentle, and intelligent. He'd welcomed her company so readily, that she imagined him more as a sea creature that tended to live with a family. There were a few whale-related names that came to mind, but she decided he ought to be something that came nearer to the shore, and found something that might suit him. "Ceph...Cephaloryn," She said, looking up at him hopefully. "Is..small, friendly dolphin," She explained, for the benefit of both other wolves present. The genus, cephalorhynchus, consisted of four different types of dolphins, small and blunt-nosed, and mainly greyscale in colour (aside from the Commerson's dolphin which was a flashier patterned creature of black and white). "Ceph," She said again, hoping that it would suffice as a nickname. RE: Birth of a pearl - RIP Evermore - September 09, 2019 She felt warmth climb to her cheeks at Thresher’s compliment, Evermore flashed the pair a kind smile. While she did notice the slight pause in the way she spoke, Evermore adored the sweetness of her. Had she known the others thoughts about formal talking, she would’ve invited her to speak in whatever way was easiest. “You have a lovely name too, you sound like a protector.” Thresher, that sounded epic more than anything, though Evermore didn’t want to geek out and lose her cool. Not to mention, she was quite unique in appearance, Evermore had never seen a girl like her before. “Perhaps his protector?” She joked lightly, a chuckle left her lips at the thought. At the mention of the male’s name, Evermore felt her plume was at the name. It had a certain ring to it, mysterious so to speak. Cephaloryn. Ceph for short, she liked it. “Fitting,” she beamed, “you guys are quite a pair together.” They were quite different, yet, somehow, they made a unique power couple that Evermore wanted to know how they’re doing all the time. “Ceph said you guys live around here, you like it? I’m thinking about moving here maybe.” RE: Birth of a pearl - Cephaloryn - September 09, 2019 Cephaloryn.
So he was born again. Granted the easier title of Ceph should he so wish to carry it. He would. A brief smile was offered to Thresher, a silent thank you of course. He welcomed the name she had presented and perhaps it would be easier to recover now knowing who he was — or who he could be. He shied away from the compliments that were exchanged. Not feeling rather worthy of any praise in his current state. Weak, tired, and distant most of the time. But his lips sealed to not protest any kind things said. It would do no good. Wish to see more sunsets here?He asked softly, a bit of a poor attempt to add onto the conversation between the two woman. RE: Birth of a pearl - Thresher - September 14, 2019 Thresher smiled when the female complimented her on her name. Her mother had chosen ocean-inspired names for the children, and she had been told that she had been named after a type of shark, with a long, whip-like tail. Of course, as a very docile wolf, it was perhaps not the most accurate description of her personality, but more often than not, while growing up, her name had been pronounced as 'Treasure' which suited her just fine. She bowed her head gratefully and smiled at the idea of being a guardian. She looked at Ceph endearingly. "We protecc each other," She said warmly. Apparently, Ceph had been talking to the female about inhabiting the area, and Thresher nodded, her eyes being drawn to the coastline, up the shore where she knew the landbrige to Wheeling Gull Isle was. That was her home- but when she had visited last, there seemed to be a new group of wolves who were staking a claim there, and she wasn't entirely sure if visitors were welcome. "Is peaceful," She commented, about the seaside lifestyle, agreeing with Ceph that the sunsets over the ocean were a sight to behold. RE: Birth of a pearl - RIP Evermore - September 19, 2019 For talks of sunsets, the agouti nodded her head. She never saw many in her home, she could see the colors but never truly just watch the entire descent of the sun. “I don’t think anyone gets used to them,” she said softly, feeling warmth climb down her body, “I think it’s something everyone could watch forever.” Theesher’s comment on the peacefulness of the land made Evermore feel more at home. If they liked it, she would probably too. It sounded wonderful and they seem to have everything together. Though, she wondered how long they would stay together before they left or even made a claim. “Are you two thinking of making a claim down here for a pack together?” They would probably do good together, at least Evermore thought so. |
