[BWP] tremble, tremble, tremble - Blackfeather Blue - September 09, 2019 Blue hadn't gone with Maegi and her children to look for the missing boy. He figured she'd have her paws full enough already with Anansi and Sakhmet; to have to deal with him on top of that would be nightmarish. He missed her each and every moment she was gone, but there were things to do here.
Things like settling disputes among the crows, who had grown particularly rancorous as of late. There was a schism in the murder, a sort of "he said, she said" debate, and as a neutral party (and as literal wingman to the canine ruler of the forest) Blue had been brought in to, in a sense, of arbitrate the whole affair. Kind of stupid, given that he was nowhere near fluent in corvid. But whatever. Will you shut up?he shouted in annoyed grackle at two squabbling crows, arguing about rights to a particular branch on a particular tree. Gods' sake, you're not helping me at all! Now, tell me— A sudden tremor, a slow shift in the earth. Alarmed, the murder scattered, as did Blue. . .though he didn't know why. He took wing, a tightness in his belly, alarm coursing through him. Up he flew, as far away from the ground as possible, and only when the feeling of unease ebbed did he return to the canopy, landing feather-light on a branch and glancing around him. Something was coming. He didn't know quite what. . .but something was coming. And Maegi was gone. Damn it. references this nearby quake
RE: [BWP] tremble, tremble, tremble - Venamis - September 09, 2019 The birds were louder than normal, and Venamis pressed his ears back against the sleek black of his nape as he pressed on beneath the canopy in which they squabble. Their cries were nothing short of awful. He turned his cold stare upward, lifting his muzzle to see a number of dumb crows caw in each other's faces, only to offer the angry curl of his lip to reveal his frustration. And then it happened. Something ominous, like... thunder? Underground? The young Melonii crouched low, bracing himself as the murder above unexpectedly took flight. Obsidian guard hairs stood on edge and he parted his jaws to snarl in surprised annoyance, looking frantically around for any sign of who was responsible for this rare spook. RE: [BWP] tremble, tremble, tremble - Rowan - September 09, 2019 The boy was glad to just be home. Wandering in the place he did belong. He didn't care what the others said, he was here before them anyway.
His murder fluttered nervously until what sounded like his Mother's angry voice rolling across the ground. The birds immediately flew up, cawing alarm calls. His ears flicked back, his fur rising. His body trembled slightly, but he stood his ground, tail arching. He wasn't too sure about what to do. Then, he saw the dark boy ahead and a low growl rumbled from him like he was part of the tremours. He was the last kid he wanted to see. RE: [BWP] tremble, tremble, tremble - Jakoul - September 09, 2019 She had been set to patrol the edge of the woods when the earth rolled beneath. Not enough to be considered something catastrophic but it summoned her attention. And it seemed she was not the only one who thought of it. Birds above flew about in a scattered fashion and...there were children. One she recognized as the brave child from the raccoon incident. While she was pleased to see him, her ghostly gaze also drifted to the other boy. One she could not place a proper name to. They both seemed uneasy though, and the Morta could not be surprised by such. Even she was feeling an uncomfortable sensation building in her gut by the thought of the earth rumbling. Was more to follow? A small rumble rolled in her chest and exited her to properly announce her arrival. Safe? She questioned as she let her gaze roam over them. RE: [BWP] tremble, tremble, tremble - RIP Sobek - September 10, 2019 The tunnels were where he felt safe after his excursion in to the marshlands nearby, having spent too long exposed upon the tarn. They were dark and cool and held his tiny treasures, objects upon which to root his stories for when Maegi returned and Sobek could explain himself. Yet when the tremor coursed through the cliffs and rumbled deep in the belly of the forest, the sound echoed through those tunnels - the walls felt as if they were shivering in anticipation, as if they had come alive as entrails and threatened to pull him deeper in to the dark. It was frightening enough to urge Sobek to flee the cavernous sanctum - and he emerged to the sight of birds lifting in to the air. In his panic he ran through a thicket of shadowed grass and then over a ledge, suspended for a split-second, until he landed abruptly and gathered his bearings again. The tremor was short; it worked its way through the earth and faded soon after, but the fright that Sobek felt remained. He felt the need for shelter and ran along a narrow path within the wood, nearly careening in to one of the other children. He narrowly missed, and collapsed in an emotional heap. Wh-wh-wh-hh,he panted, wha-wasss-thad?He could hear his heart pounding in his ears, taste copper at the back of his throat. It was just like the terror that seized him in the night upon the tarn. Both children must have felt it - and he looked wildly to both of them. RE: [BWP] tremble, tremble, tremble - Cassiopeia - September 11, 2019 her dreams have become fleeting, dark, fraught with an undercurrent that she might call dread. she's spent enough time within the wood, oft alone with the quieter parts of blackfeather, that the distinct wrong-ness of the past few days does not fail to resonate with her. and so when the grounds shifts beneath her and the canopy comes to life with crows, she rises quickly, calling lowly to Hela and @Scylla who she knows are nearby. seconds pass, and it's over, but the woman is wary as the dread grows sharply tangible. RE: [BWP] tremble, tremble, tremble - Scylla - September 12, 2019 the ground shook beneath them for a brief moment as scylla slept draped ontop her sister. for a moment, the quake didn't phase them. but at the rumble of the last tremor, her eyes blinked open, and subsequently narrowed as she kicked hela awake. "ugh. did you fart again?" the girl's nose wrinkled in disgust, staring accusingly at her twin for yet again causing the world to vibrate with her gaseous... issue. however, no sooner later did their mother release a frantic call for them to return, and with haste did she pick herself up and make her way to their den. mother rarely called for them to return, often letting them roam for however long they wanted until it was time to eat. nearing their mother with hela in tow, scylla looked up as the crows and ravens seemed to cease their eternal war and simply... flee. it was strange, eerie even. "mama, what happened?" her voice rattled slightly as she said it, feeling uneasy with little explanation as to why she felt so. RE: [BWP] tremble, tremble, tremble - Blackfeather Blue - September 19, 2019 He watched the wolves react beneath him, most of them looking quite panicky. The biggest surprise to him was Sobek, whom he hadn't spotted since the boy had left the forest. Blue gave Maegi's son a gimlet stare and a grackle caw, looking censoriously down at the child. What a fright he'd given his mother!
But he very well couldn't tell him that. Like, literally couldn't. Because if he could, he definitely would. Insolent little twerp. (But Blue loved him, like he would love anyone who truly loved Maegi. He just happened to be a little more severe in his affections than some.) |
