BWP · sudden change - Nanoq - September 09, 2019

Referencing the nearby tremors!

The greyscale scholar is blissfully asleep, dreaming of catching a bison by himself and impressing everyone in the pack, when he is suddenly jostled. The dream swiftly transforms into a nightmare; retracing the incident where his mother got injured trying to save West, and this time the entire herd of bison stampeding up the hill towards them all. Everything is shaking.

Newt cries in his sleep, kicking out before his eyes open hesitantly, and he realizes that the shaking and low growling noise isn't just in his dreams... it's real.

RE: BWP · sudden change - Leta - September 09, 2019

Leta dreamt of the stars. All was well and peaceful in her own dreams; she recited their names by rote, and constellations, too, until she could not recollect the name of one—those very stars fell, and Leta watched, made a wish, though the thought was interrupted as these ones caused a tremor. Leta gasped; would she be able to touch a star?

But there was no answer for her; a kick from her brother caused Leta to jump up, a relatively light sleeper. The earth shook in the same way it had in her dreams, and Leta blinked at Newt, then rose to all fours and spun in a circle. No stars were falling around them, but her dream was already forgotten. What's happening? She asked in a confused breath, not yet nervous. It was a new experience, which their parents always presented to them... Leta could not recall a bad one, and so did not feel very alarmed yet.

RE: BWP · sudden change - West Tyree - September 09, 2019

Much like his siblings, West was fast asleep, half laying on his scholarly brother with a light snore. In his dreams he stood upon the hill where their stones stood. He had caught a field mouse that sat at his paws. He planned to show it to his mother when a sharp kick to his head woke him. It was then that he noticed the tremors.

Blinking sleep from his eyes the young boy yawns as he tumbled off his siblings. Leta asked about the rumbles leading to West's face scrunching up as he searched for an answer. Was he suppose to know? Maybe the ground is laughing? Even if that was so...something felt very wrong about it.

RE: BWP · sudden change - Nanoq - September 09, 2019

He is grateful—although somewhat apologetic—that his wild ninja karate kicks managed to disturb his siblings. Having them experience this with him made it less... scary? Almost exciting, and he does not see the bisons of his dreams charging at them... so surely they must be safe?

He snuggles closer to West while Leta jumps to her feet. Newt flattens humorously across the ground until the quakes and growling slowly cease. Leta asks the question everyone must be thinking; What is happening? West's answer seems legit, if not for the fact it didn't sound like a laugh. No, it sounded angry, Newt argues quietly.

RE: BWP · sudden change - Leta - September 09, 2019

Leta seriously considered West's response, and did not think him wrong even though it did not satisfy her curiosity. When Newt suggested it sounded angry, Leta frowned at the thought; what was so angry it shook the world? She shivered a little at the thought, and offered her own more optimistic outlook: maybe something really big fell???? Sometimes, when their father plopped down, the giant could make the ground feel as though it moved—though it didn't.

Or... maybe... maybe a huge bison herd is running around? Like, the biggest herd ever, she imagined next, eyes brightening at the thought. Maybe that was it, and if it was... they would hafta be close, she whispered, tail waving, an adventurous proposition wordlessly lighting up her features: should we see????

RE: BWP · sudden change - Clay - September 10, 2019

Clay, roused from his sleep by the loud chattering of his siblings, turned over with a furious expression whilst half awake. His ears were pressed back and his brows lowered as he let out a tiny growl. "Would ya' all hush? Youre like the song birds at night!"

The boy hadn't noticed the earthquake tremors, but when he got to his paws he suddenly fell over with an 'oof', crashing into Leta with an undignified squeak. What was that??? He was quick to get up, quick to scoot away from his sister before nosing her slightly in an attempt for an apology. He looked to his siblings then, feeling guilty about his previous outburst. "Was that the bison?" he murmured.

RE: BWP · sudden change - RIP Valette - September 12, 2019

Valette was close to her children when their commotion started. She had not felt the tremors the first time but heard the growl coming from Clay. She figured some of the children were fighting and she had to break them up. She woke with her teeth bared to break up a fight but then noticed that the ground really was shaking. The female's eyes widened and looked over her children. This was nothing she had ever felt before.

Valette forced herself to stay calm and looked around thoughtfully. The kid's suggestions weren't even that crazy. Because when the bison would run the ground would tremble but not like this. "Hush now," she murmured to them. "Nothing is wrong, let's go back to sleep," she returned and motioned them to come snuggle close to her.

RE: BWP · sudden change - West Tyree - September 12, 2019

Clay soon awoke and snapped at the three causing a small growl of West's own to rise, but he quickly stopped as his brother realized their reason for comotion. It seemed that they woke their mother with all the noise too, something he felt bad for but glad to maybe get an actual answer.

In reality, it seemed maybe no one knew what the rumbling was, but Valette assured them everything was fine. If she said so, it had to be fine right? Right. Looking back to his siblings, West would go cuddle into his mother's side, flopping onto his own so his siblings had room to join.

RE: BWP · sudden change - Nanoq - September 18, 2019

Last post from Newt unless you guys wanna continue?

It could be something really big, but what is bigger than bison and Greyback? Did a stone fall? Newt’s ears perk up at the thought. Maybe a stone? He adds quietly after Leta’s suggestion. Although she’s right, it could also be a bison herd… he really is starting to feel the itch to explore what happened. The scholar ever desiring information.

But of course, Clay wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. He often does, and snapped at them. Newt droops his head his cheeks puffing and fur rising. Yet it seems the younger sibling understands what the commotion is all about a few seconds later. His lips part, about to answer when mama Valette is the next to blink her eyes open. Newt gives her a wide-eyed stare.

Yes, ma, he murmurs—pouting again but nuzzling closer towards her and his siblings. He feels a bit relieved to have the reassurance… but something didn’t quite feel right and he couldn’t get that nagging paranoia to quiet down.

RE: BWP · sudden change - Leta - September 26, 2019

Leta gasped as her brother fell into her, but was not hurt; she nosed him back (she would always forgive him) and smiled warmly toward him. Leta had not been offended by his growl, either; they had woken him up, and she felt a little bad about that. She was about to reply to Newt when her mother stirred, and put their fear to rest. Hers, at least. Though she wanted to investigate, Leta trusted their mother without question or challenge. So, she rose and snuggled up between her brothers (nosing her face into Clay's shoulder gingerly and sprawling up against/upon West and Newt, feeling great comfort in their nearness, too).
