little boy blue & the man in the moon - Marmion - October 24, 2019 He gonna go inactive!! D:
The conifers here grew so thickly together that at first Marmion thought, surely they are impenetrable! A great wall, a fortress! Yet he found himself scrutinizing every gap between them, seeking a route from place to place while he scoured the area for food. It had been a while now since he'd encountered @Nirali and the man @Aldric, but he found them easy to follow, at times warm and welcoming, both of which aspects he grew to crave. In his short life the boy had not been given much positivity, and he certainly lacked a sense of purpose, so it became easy to fawn over Nirali by way of gifts; it was slower for Marmion to trust the man that traveled with her, and so he kept his distance - or at most, remained passive and diminutive if the pair were both in close proximity, so as not to be rude. He had a rare moment now, as he trailed between the trees, to find something rare: a fresh kill with which to bestow his gratitude upon Nirali; it was not a courtship that urged him to act in such a way, although it would be easy to mislabel his affection. It was more... A sense of importance that he had mentally attributed to the woman. She had found him first, she had been kind, driving away thoughts of his old master. She deserved all the gifts he could discover. However, as he made his way between the trees something became more obvious. He had long ago become accustomed to the silence of the ruined land, the lack of birdsong and scarce signs of larger meals — but it was while Marmion stalked within the conifers of the park that he first noticed it. A sharply acidic aroma, deep and earthy but with a lingering sourness that made his haunches shiver while simultaneously filling him with an ominous dread. An inkling that danger lurked nearby - but where? |
