—an elixir for universal life.” - Ibis (Ghost) - December 05, 2019

We did it! :) Welcome to your new home, UG! @Kavik @Bhediya @Sarah @Reiko @Sativa @Marten @Kukulkan @Hogo @Awol @Pygmalion @Lainie

Please post at least one reply with your pledged character! This will be left open for 1 week to accommodate everyone's schedules; failure to reply to this rallying cry means your character has left UG and will not be counted among the initial ranks; you can always have your character return and join in a private thread after (UG doesn't judge!!).

Thank you everyone for your help in forming this so quickly! <3

There was nothing special about today—nothing at all, not even a little bit. Her nose wasn't as drippy but her throat still hurt; she was getting better, but still wasn't at her best. That didn't seem to matter tonight, though. After spending the past few days in a deep sleep (or vaguely awake for long enough to try some medicine and drift off again) Ibis was suddenly very awake now, and also aware that the night was all around her. It was cold but not too cold; a ground fog had rolled in across the meadow and now clung to the edge of the forest, which would have usually unnerved her, but not tonight.

Tonight the stars were out. The sky was as clear as she had ever seen it, and the stars — they flourished overhead like a field of little buds winking back at her. She lifted herself free of the thin blanket of snow which had draped over her coiled body and doe-stepped from the shadows, to where a fresh expanse of snow sat waiting for her, twinkling, reflecting starlight so that the once-burning forest looked ethereal, as if imbibed by magic. There was warmth on her cheeks, it spilled from her eyes, but they were happy tears — perhaps even a vestige of the fever which had claimed her for so long, but now that it broke she saw the forest anew.

Their forest, she thought as she blinked away the gleaming in her eyes; their home now, the young woman thought as she envisioned all of her friends, her new brothers and sisters, and raised her head. As her voice spilled out of her it filled the gaps in the trees, carried to where sleeping bodies lay in shared spaces, and to those that kept watch even in the thick of the night. The song grew stronger as if it carried its own life and its own power.

Uaine Gorsedd — the name popped in to her head as she sang to them, letting the world know that they were here now, that this was their's. Perhaps, she thinks, perhaps somewhere, @Okeanos can hear them.

ahhh! yes! i'm so glad that the pack is formed!

The yearling was resting under the faulty protectivenesss of a bush from the gripping freeze that seemed to grow everyday. He was tired, and he eyes were in slits as his scalding breath barely aperared in the rolling fog. When would he find purpose? He had agreed to the council, but he was hit fit for it he wondered. Not to mention the impending visit of Easthollow's pricky leaders. He would need to tell her. His thoughts could be copared to the fog, thick and slow, moving but never getting anywhere.

There was nothing. Then it was there. the sweet call of triumph, the cheerful voice of a belevolent  lady. Ibis. Her call seemed to tame the wild fog around him with her song. His ears were perked in amazement. He knew what this was. It had all come together.

With triumph and joyfulness, the young man joined in the choir.

RE: —an elixir for universal life.” - Bhediya - December 05, 2019

short!

the period of relaxation was finally coming to a close as the pack drew closer to its formal formation. ibis's howl rang out over the canopy, echoing throughout the wood. the voices of her packmates fell quickly into chorus, followed by bhediya's own victorious melody.

RE: —an elixir for universal life.” - Reiko - December 05, 2019

A howl rang out once again, this time it was Ibis - and this time, it sounded more like a cheer than something to be worried about. This moment felt familiar, like the one she felt back in Kaistleoki the day they were all settled and officially a pack. This time she didn't need to run to join them in a meeting from the sound of it, no, instead, she was able to hold herself high, proud and sing her own melody to add to the growing choir around the woods. This was her home now.

Eventually, she would seek out Kaistleoki to check up on them, but she has been here too long. They needed a healer after all and Evergreen already had so many, including the wonderful Speedy. She wasn't needed there, but here, she had a place. She would be their healer, their gardener of herbs and remedies.

She was a part of a pack now and the young she wolf was excited for whatever was to come as she stood by her friends side, she never had heard a pack make itself known before and was excited to be apart of it as she joined in with her fellow pack mates.

RE: —an elixir for universal life.” - Kukulkan - December 05, 2019

His days had left him restless. That pirate vagrancy, seeping deep in his veins, stretching out across his muscles, Kukulkan was as helpless against his calling to travel, to wander and explore as a hungry pup near its mother's teet. This gave him life, meaning, and filled his endless questions with temporary answers, only to lead to more inquiry.

It was insatiable.
And it had left him cruelly occupied, neglectful for dear sweet Ibis in her ambitions.

And so he heard her call - he was still within ear shot, and it was his one true goal to answer it. Nothing could stop the beating of limbs against soil as the tall, gangly but thickly-furred bastard approached where others had done the same. It was no longer just Kukulkan, just Ibis and Bhediya and Awol. Ibis had a gift about her, and she'd been able to touch others' souls, to bring them to their cause.

It made him flush up a bit.
Might that even have been jealousy?
No... admiration. Relief. Pride.

Others answered first, and for half a second he let them approach before he. But the pirate wihtin him beckoned him out of the shadows in which he lurked, long legs stretching out into the sunlight and closer to the wamrth that simply seemed to radiated from their new leader. A smile, so soft, so kind, so genuine compared to his cheeky grins... this smile shyly spread upon his maw as Kukulkan approached Ibis slowly, he level against the height of his torso. "M'dear, yer... yer somethin' else now..." A chuckle, this meager, beautiful dame accomplishing what his entire life's ambition had been.

There's something special to her...

"I'ma here fer ya, Ibis. Jus'... tell me." Quieted words, whispered.
What can I do for you, little queen?

But not before the large, taut bastard threw his head back and let loose a booming, melodious song that threatened to rival any those from the distance that sought to contest. K was a southern boy, raised where the air was thick as mud and your voice had to traverse beyond it all. His voice along could conquer the airways in these northern wastes.

RE: —an elixir for universal life.” - Pygmalion - December 05, 2019

Oh no! I totally missed this earlier! *leaps into the party*

A call of jubilation rose through the air, and Pygmalion knew it to be only one thing: that home was official. That home was here. Not just for him, but for all the wolves of Uaine Gorsedd.

It was so different from the white expanse of his birthplace, and yet it was perfect. Because Bhediya was perfect, and she was here. Ibis and her friends were so lovely as well, and they were here. He was here. Uaine Gorsedd was here!

Pygmalion lifted his muzzle and let his song mingle with the rest, a lilting tenor that rang like a bell for all to hear.

RE: —an elixir for universal life.” - RIP Kavik - December 06, 2019

a bit of PP with @Lainie, lmk if it's not okay <3

He was curled around his daughter, letting the sounds of her breathing and the feel of her warmth against him sink into his anxious mind. They weren't asleep and yet seemed that neither of them had anything to say at that moment either. He had let his mind drift, which he regretted. That quiet moment between father and daughter that normally would soothe his soul only made him realize just how much he missed the rest of his family; they should be here too, huddled around him like they used to be on the cold nights at the creek—he shook his head, as if the motion could shake the thoughts from his mind. Ibis' howl drifted through the trees then, quickly joined by the voices of the other wolves who now called this forest home. The sound wrapped around his heart and lifted the weight of his grief just long enough for a sliver of hope to slip through. Maybe he could begin to heal here, helping Ibis grow into the leader that he was certain she could be. Healing was not easy by any means but being here with a new purpose, his daughter safe and surrounded by a pack again, he felt like maybe it was actually attainable.

Kavik tilted his head towards the sky and added a long, deep howl of his own to the chorus sounding through their new home. Everything had been so dark and hopeless since the loss of his family, but this moment brought him out of the darkness just a little, enough to show him that maybe one day, things would be better.

RE: —an elixir for universal life.” - Lainie - December 09, 2019

very quick crappy post I'm sorry.

Sleep had come easier now that she was surrounded by a pack. To have found a home, filled with so many strange faces was exciting to the girl and had filled her with renewed energy and drive to work harder every day and sleep deeply at night. The warmth and safety against her father had lulled her into a dreamless slumber, broken as the air filled with the howls of her new pack. She blinked sleepily and looked at her father, eyes widening with awe as he howled and she lifted her head releasing a howl of her own, wobbly and young but it was hers. Her eyes glimmered with happiness and she listened intently for others, her tail giving a few thumps against the ground.
