sold my soul to the calling - Hela - December 02, 2019 rank challenge!
she calls for @Valour, and almost as an afterthought, @Vengeance as soon as she reaches the place they'd fought last. she'd reached a decision moments ago, and didn't see any time in delaying it. her intent was clear in her call, and there was firm confidence in the way she stood, prepared to begin at any moment (she would not put it past the boy to simply attack). Valour was the only one here she'd existed on neutral terms with for the past few weeks; she'd broken the leg of the first pup to come after her, and shoved the other in the pit. when she examined her reasons for not doing the same to Valour, she found them flawed. and yet, it was more than that; their last interaction had left her unsettled, feeling keenly the power balance between them. she decided quickly that she did not like being, feeling, inferior.
RE: sold my soul to the calling - Valour - December 02, 2019 The howl filled him with dread, especially since it had followed one for Vengeance. His ears pinned back and he sat still for a moment, internalizing the pain he felt and letting it burn away as he remembered the last encounter, the hunt. He'd been dumb to think she was trying to he his friend, she'd been ordering him around like he was beneath her. Anger and bitterness set him into motion and he set off toward her, noting how it was the place they had first fought. He did not rush at her, no, he stood at a safe distance his tail arched high above his back, the anger and hatred etched onto his expression as his lips curled in a silent threat over his fangs "We wait for Vengeance" he growled and then fell silent, stance remaining unchanged. RE: sold my soul to the calling - Vengeance - December 02, 2019 He can be skipped until the end!
Well well well... it seemed the time had finally come for a challenge. According to the howl, it sounded like Hela had had enough of being at the bottom of the puppy foodchain and had finally decided to try her hand at a rank challenge. Though puppy challenges meant very little, it was a good way for the young to get used to the way the pack worked, to fight for what they wanted, for power, respect, recognition. Sliding into the meeting of the future soldiers, he sat quietly on the wayside, carefully watching the two for them to start... There wasn't one, in particular, he was rooting for. This would be good for both their growth, a loss or a win. RE: sold my soul to the calling - Hela - December 03, 2019 and when vengeance came, she moved. a feign at his snuff; all fangs and bared hackles as she charges head-on. and then she slips to the side, nimbly, aiming instead to seize his scruff. it was a move she'd practiced since her last lesson with Black Hat, though had never before had the chance to truly try it out. she wanted this over quickly; Valour looked enraged, something she could, perhaps, use against him. RE: sold my soul to the calling - Valour - December 03, 2019 For once he ignored his idol, something that had cost him badly the last time. As she moved toward him snapping he sidestepped and lunged himself, jaws wrapping around the bridge of her nose where he clamped down to cause her pain but not break the skin too terribly. He didn't know why but he didn't want to hurt her, his intention had never been to fight with her for recognition. He released her and moved backwards, smirking as he shifted out of her reach. She'd have to come after him, he wouldn't make it easy for her. RE: sold my soul to the calling - Hela - December 03, 2019 her face burns; still tender from where the coyote had torn at it. he released after a moment, but she did not allow him a moment's respite. surging forward, she kept close, dropping to seize his forelimb. she aimed for the easy to wound areas; the ankle, hock. once she had her grip, she whipped her head side to side as if his limb were a ragdoll as much as these close quarters would allow. she knew well that the move left her scruff exposed but this, too, was something she'd practiced with Black Hat. RE: sold my soul to the calling - Valour - December 03, 2019 As expected she came at him though much faster than anticipated. As he backed up his hind paw caught on a root and he stumbled, open to her attack. He remembered Orochi's scream of agony as she had broken his leg when they captured him together, his eyes going wide as his breath caught fearfully. As she began to shake his leg the pain almost caused him to scream but instead, somehow he focused his eyes on her scruff and in a moment of desperation lunged, gripping her by the back of the scruff and yanking her to a stop. Quickly he pulled her forward and then flipped onto his side still holding her, aiming to bring her down and then use his hind legs to kick her away while he regained his footing. lemme know if the moves being pp'd isn't okay, I just was going off who won what roll each round. This would be the third roll since Vengy can be skipped. Next move is hers, you can pp a minor wound if you want?
RE: sold my soul to the calling - Hela - December 03, 2019 ok, sounds good! left it kind of vague so you can decide wounds if you'd like!
they become, for a moment, a confused mess of limbs. spurred on by something that might be claustrophobia, she wrestles free, helped somewhat by the kicks of his limbs. but she does not waste the value of attacking while he's down, and she spins tightly, grabbing hold of his cheek and the hollow is his neck as she shoves his head into the dirt, not in the least gentle in attempting to end this now.
RE: sold my soul to the calling - Valour - December 03, 2019 It had ended quickly, his mistake being thinking he could get off the ground before she could. He made note of that as her fangs dug into a lethal place upon his face and neck, head smacking the dirt and rousing him from his thoughts. He snarled, a sharp sound of protest though it deepened and he growled at her as he assumed the posture of submission. He would voice his displeasure, he would show that she had won but only for the moment and made note of where he hurt. Her teeth had pierce the skin slightly where she held him, his head throbbed and smarted where his freshly healed wounds had smacked against the ground. Otherwise he felt fine physically, it was his pride that was hurt and his ego scorned right before his idols eyes. Slowly his gaze turned toward Vengeance, a blank stare with an expression that was full of embarrasment and anger. Why did he keep letting these things happen? When he had promised to teach him? He had just let him wander and do his own thing, bringing Clay home and then acting like he was bad for protecting the clearly weaker boy. He didn't understand what the man wanted from him. "Get off me Hela! You did it okay? You got my spot you home wrecking witch" he snarled at her and kicked out viciously as he tried to pull away and if able to, standing and glaring at her as he would slowly walk away. RE: sold my soul to the calling - Hela - December 03, 2019 a moment after he faltered beneath her, she withdrew, sensing the end of the fight even before he spoke. there is fierce pride, a throbbing, deep-seated pain across her face, and a surprising and total lack of regret. her stare remains on him, growing harder when he yells, but allowing the words to go unchecked. it had not been personal; rather, not challenging him at all had been. his anger is understandable. (though surprisingly she finds herself hoping it will diminish, in time) she watched him go a moment, not feeling the need to offer him anything further, before returning her gaze to Vengeance. "he was in my way," is what she offers in lieu of an explanation, feeling obligated to say something to fill the silence between Valour's insult and whatever Vengeance may have to say. RE: sold my soul to the calling - Vengeance - December 03, 2019 The children were intense for their age, and unlike their last little battle, it had ended with a clear winner. Hela was showing her prowess and desire to climb the ranks, he remembered her wanting to aim for the rank of Centurion as soon as she could. If she kept going the route she was now, it would be in no time that she would gain such a rank. While Valour's eyes wandered over to the Warlord, a pause was met while the two stared into one another's eyes. Eventually, he parted his lips to speak to the boy before he wandered off to lick his wounds. Every loss is a learning experience. Come find me after your wounds heal, we will go for a new lesson. He had a one on one with Hela, Clay and now Valour would need some time to learn from the one who had brought him in. He would address the boy's friendship with Clay and the possibility for that being the reason why Valour may be falling behind his little rival here. (we totally need a new Ven & Valour thread btw, once you have time <3) Once Valour had wandered away, his attention turned to the new Alpha Pup, Hela. You don't need to explain. As Nightwalker, I see it as nothing out of the ordinary. Congratulations on your new title. You three will soon be adults, this is but a taste of what will come, especially if you still aim to be Centurion. RE: sold my soul to the calling - Hela - December 03, 2019 when he address her, confirming her victory, the pride flares again. but she only nods, confirming his last words with an "I do." she does not know when that magical time that marks them as adults will come, but she is utterly impatient for it to arrive. already she can meet Vengeance's eye without having to crane her head back, but she is fairly certain size is not the only marker of adulthood. standing, she dips her head in farewell, keen on shoving her face into a snowbank but entirely unwilling to reveal that. with a final glance at the warlord, she turns on her heel and returns the way she'd come, wondering at what would come of this. RE: sold my soul to the calling - Vengeance - December 03, 2019 The young Alpha didn't have much to share after earning her new title - he chalked that up to wanting to act as noble as it comes for the highest rank in her age group. They were getting older, their lanky bodies almost as large as an adult, they all still had some room to grow still, to fill out those spindly legs. They had one more test to go to make sure they had long forgotten their old ways of kindness and moved onto what it meant to be a mercenary, to be a Nightwalker... and that would come in due time. Once she walked off, Vengeance stood up and did the same. Returning to his walk within the woods before the challenge was suddenly issued. With the challenges beginning, he was interested to see what fate would bring to these three pups, before, and after adulthood. |
