Break me up and steal what's left inside - Takiyok - December 10, 2019 She had wandered farther from the hollow than she normally would, but with her usual search areas exhausted, she felt she needed to start looking for her missing children in different places. She refused to give up searching, and she probably never would. The meadow was covered in a thin blanket of snow, and more flakes continued to fall from the cloudy sky, some of them collecting on the edges of her similarly colored fur before melting away. She walked with her nose to the ground, pushing her muzzle through the snow to stir up the scents from underneath. So far, she had found nothing promising, but still she continued forward. She wasn't going home until she had searched the meadow thoroughly; it was the only way she could deal with how devastated she was to have lost three of her children. They were older now, but not adults yet. They still had so much to learn—so much she wasn't able to teach them, and now they were god knows where. She just hoped they had found somewhere safe, or that maybe they were even together. RE: Break me up and steal what's left inside - Odyssey - December 17, 2019 Goodnight tried to keep moving — slow and steady. It was the only thing these days that ever had a chance of distracting him from being so damn hungry, and it worked about as often as it didn't; though at the end of each day he was always dead tired. An unfortunate side-effect, as he considered sleeping — or rather, the creeping and incessant need for it — to be the absolute worst part about being a bachelor male. So far his ritualistic paranoia had been for nought, and yet he would not be rid of it in this state. Not even in a place as unobscured as the long prairie; dressed in uniform winterwhite until next year. Goodnight had reached a point in the day where he wanted to rest, but was almost immediately thwarted by a huntress camouflaged in a coat as wan as fresh snow, with a stride that was not to be crossed. The ranger kept his fair distance, pausing only to watch her pass, and wonder what kind of prey she intended to find with such vehement, single-minded snuffling. RE: Break me up and steal what's left inside - Takiyok - December 20, 2019 Time barely registered while she was searching. She thought only of taking another step, searching the next area. Every new patch of uncovered ground brought with it the chance that she might find some kind of clue. So often, large chunks of time would pass before she even registered time as something she should be keeping up with until the fading of the light finally signaled that she should call it a day and return home, each time with the promise that she would return and pick up where she left off. She was focused but she didn't miss the scent of a stranger as it drifted by on the breeze and filled her nostrils. Not much could pull her focus from her task, but the presence of someone she didn't know definitely did. Taki paused, keeping her nose to the ground as her eyes scanned the area. She saw nothing at first but her gaze hung on the splotch of light grey against the snow white of the meadow. She lifted her head, eyes meeting his if he was still looking in her direction. She never trusted a stranger, even if they were on the borders of her territory promising their allegiance for a place in the pack. She always assumed everyone had some kind of ulterior motive until proven otherwise. A puff of white surrounded her muzzle as she released a low chuff through her nose. The sound was a question—what do you want.— She had no idea she had simply happened upon him. She wondered if maybe he saw her as an opportunity to gain something, and so she remained wary and firmly in place until she knew more about the situation. |
