may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Mei - December 24, 2019 @huā & @Ying. please let them post first!
she felt sick to her stomach. never had she been deprived of surf & sand, the salty scent of the sea. oh, how dearly she missed it already. she'd sulked the whole way here, scarcely a word pried from the black iron gates of her lips. shells & sand were tangled in her pearly locks, mementos of the land she was forced to leave for the alleged greater good. whether or not this endeavor would be worth it was yet to be determined, though mei clutched her doubts firmly by her heart. if & when things went sour, she would not hesitate to say "i told you so" & turn tail to the coast. finally, they arrived at the doorstep of the pack nearest to her place of belonging, though it was still not near enough for comfort. even if it were sat right on the shore, the priestess would remain wary of its inhabitants; the foreigners who surely did not share their tongue, their beliefs, nor their way of life. she stood rigidly like a prisoner dragged to her death sentence & stared blankly, expectantly at ying, for this was her idea. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Ying - December 24, 2019 the general lack of enthusiasm had been expected, but when actually experienced... ying couldn't help but feel a blanket of guilt, as though her suggestion were better off having never been said. she knew that it was for the best (wasn't it?), but she still couldn't help the regret. once at the border, she bumped against each sister's shoulder. 这只是现在, she whispered. after a moment to allow for a response, ying threw her head back and called for a leader. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Huā - December 24, 2019 Huā's thoughts were like a reflection of Mei's. Her already quiet self was equally silent, trudging her body like a limp corpse tied to a rope into the inland. Soon they would meet the common wolves- people who lacked a beautiful language, who thrived on sex and violence and whatever else those strange people did. In Huā's mind they were bad news, but most especially the men. Men who felt the need to prove their strength, to move in on uninterested women, among other things. And the people who held no connection to the sea or sky or nature around them in general. They were confined into their cages built under the looming branches of trees that shut out the glorious blue. As soon as they were accepted, Huā intended to race back off to the beach, only coming back for food and pack meetings. That would be fine, right? And Ying could go lay among the trees and choke in the tightness and restriction of the place. Yeah. She wasn't happy with her right now. And all the while, she knew deep in her heart that her sister had a point, and that the pack would benefit them. But she hated to acknowledge it. Ying's little playful bump did nothing to lighten her mood as she gave her a little glare of a look. Still, as if to be supportive, she joins in her song along Ying's, harmonizing best she could in the call for the leader. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Aningan - December 25, 2019 There were two songs sung that day but three faces to meet, two dark and one bright, each with eyes like the sea. Aningan was near enough to not leave them waiting long, pace quick and eyes searching; he sought their figures even before they were within his line of sight, eager to greet them—they were strangers, true, but he knew he must meet them. After all, as much as he enjoyed the present group on the plateau, he could not deny how much easier it may be to hunt with more paws on the ground, come the return of the herds. As the bear approached he looked between the three of them, intrigued; he assumed them to be related based on appearances alone, in addition to the scents they shared on their pelts—of the sea, he found, instilling within his chest a longing for what he once had. He missed the shoreline, the ocean, and all that came with it—but it betrayed them, attacking the wolves of Rusalka with its rage. “Salutitsinik,” greeted the boy, tail waving amicably; he was relaxed overall, whatever wildfire ignited within in response to the former trespasser smothered. “Who are you all?” And what do you need? his eyes seemed to ask, a curiosity in his gaze that refused to die out. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Mei - December 25, 2019 ying gave a reassuring nudge that was not reciprocated. unlike huā's sharp glance, hers was sullen, worried, sorrowful. her sisters called for their leader, but she could not muster the willpower to join them. so she opted to continue in her sulking until a hulking figure came into view. so large was he, mei questioned whether he was even a wolf for a moment. confirmation that he was quelled her fears but a fraction, for the man was imposing in his massive stature. her heart raced as she peered up at the ursine man, gaze wary but voice trapped in her throat. he spoke a foreign tongue that was not even common, & mei was prepared to latch onto this as reason enough to leave. but alas, he then shifted to english, & that hope quickly withered with the rest. he offered an amicable gesture, but looks were deceiving, & she was put no more at ease by it. whirlpool eyes slid back to her platinum sister in retained silence. she toyed with the idea of pretending she couldn't understand common at all. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Ying - December 25, 2019 neither sister reciprocated the touch. ying heaved a heavy sigh, hanging her head while they awaited the leader's arrival. he was large, but not.. unapproachable. in fact, the huntress thought that he seemed quite tolerable. i am ying, she began, this is mei, and this is hua.a likely contrast from her sisters, she'd managed to put on an enthusiastic grin. we are sisters, coming from the coast.ying nodded back in the direction they'd come from, trying to avoid eye contact in the process. now, we need a pack. this is yours?she waited for the man to respond, all the while wondering if she'd been too forward. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Huā - December 28, 2019 A bearish man, towering and pale. Already she was intimidated by the large male, and at the sight of him seemed to just slightly shrink into herself with fear. He greeting them in some unknown tongue, followed by a question in common. His tail wagged, a good sign, but she remained slightly wary. Ying answered his question before Huā could gather up her words- introducing the three of them. Huā nodded along to her sister's well-chosen words. As Ying finished, Huā added her own comment- "We promise we work hard." She hummed sweetly with accent. No, she didn't like the inland- but she knew how to be nice to the people she ought to be nice to. If he was their new leader she intended to stay on his good side. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Aningan - December 28, 2019 And on this week’s episode of Aningan Doesn’t Know How to be Leader, we welcome three whole woofers without asking a single question about them other than their names LMAO Of the three, the pallid woman was the first to speak and therefore the one to receive the majority of the boy’s attention. He looked to each sister as they were introduced, offering a smile and a small nod of his head, acknowledging their presence there. Seeing them together, three siblings side-by-side, brought a brief glimmer of longing to his gaze; it was there one second and gone the next, retreating to where the memories of his own siblings lingered in the back of his mind. “I’m Aningan,” he said, continuing with his own introduction. Best not to dwell on that which could not be changed, after all. When the first to speak added their origin point, his suspicions were confirmed: it was the sea that clung to them, his former home. “You’re from the coast?” he asked, seeking further confirmation. “Is the sea still angry? We lived there once, before it devoured the shore.” And yet, he still missed it. But, like his siblings, that was of the past now—he could not be sure when the sea may settle, and so he knew not when, or even if, they may ever be able to return to their former home safely. They sought a home and another of the trio spoke about working hard, a comment that made his attention jump over to her as his gaze lingered for a moment or two. “Yes, this is my home,” he answered, looking back to the apparent head of the sisterhood. “If you’re willing to work hard, you all can stay here and join our family.” Slowly, over time, that is. Aningan still felt uncomfortable around those he did not know well but, given the state of the land, he knew he had to be more open to new members. And welcoming them seemed like a step in the right direction. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Mei - January 06, 2020 SCREAMS!!! it's my turn, AAA i'm sorry. skip mei if u want for the rest bc she's busy sulking, lol.
the fact that these wolves were coastal like them was a commonality, which she welcomed. if only they still lived by the sea. alas. she was tempted to pipe up about the the coast's state since their arrival here in these wilds, but the words were trapped in her throat like a songbird flapping frantically against the bars of its cage. this was the first she had heard of the sea being angry. cāng did not divulge such feelings to her, so she wondered why the sea was once not at ease here. that did explain the scarcity of prey, though, which led them to this pack's border now. perhaps this was intentional; a lesson for she & her sisters. but she could not be sure until she spoke to cāng. his eagerness to invite them, three strangers, into his family was suspicious, & it showed in the windows of her eyes. but there was no going back now. she opted to continue her wordless sulking. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Ying - January 06, 2020 the boy — aningan, right? — seemed friendly enough. the invitation was happily accepted.. by ying, anyway. angry?she asked, not angry, no.what had he meant by this phrasing? she hoped that he would clarify so she could give a better answer. the huntress looked between her two sisters, finding herself annoyed by mei's silence. it was clear that she was not interested in this move, but she couldn't have pretended? we will work very hard, like hua said.a smile shot to the twin. can we come in now? RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Huā - January 06, 2020 The man introduces himself as Aningan, asking about the coast and nearly welcoming them in. While Ying struggled to grasp the phrasing, Huā understood. It was the same way in which she'd described it for the past several weeks. As Ying spoke and Mei sulked, Huā waited for her chance to pipe up, before interjecting. "The sea is not angry. Few weeks ago, is angry, but is getting better every day." She informs him. She was quiet for the rest, as Ying asked if they could "come in now" and Huā let out the smallest little giggle. RE: may these thousand winters swiftly pass, i pray - Aningan - January 19, 2020 gently places an ending on this for us One claimed the sea was not angry, another that it was calming more with each day. He clung to the information, saving it to be investigated at a later date; he didn’t doubt them, he simply wished to see it with his own eyes. His attention was pulled elsewhere, too, as the more vocal of the trio spoke up again—this time confirming that they would work hard, and seeking acceptance into the pack. “Yeah, you can,” he said, smiling all the while. Three new faces to spy throughout the territory—three new wolves he would have to get to know. Saving the latter part until he was more comfortable, Aningan welcomed the sisters into Rusalka and led them near to the land’s heart, where he then left them to settle in at their own paces. |
